I have been a return customer to Comcast for less than 2 weeks. I have been repeatedly lied to, promised return calls from a customer service supervisor, over charged for installation, and given equipment that doesn’t work.
1. I signed up for service on Comcast’s web site, I was supposed to have my home phone ported over from Verizon, at no time during sign up did they tell me you can not disconnect your previous service on the same day as your new service is being hooked up. I have called Comcast Tech support and customer service team no less than 8 time trying to rectify this issues. I have been promised the issue will be fixed and I will receive a return call. As of 1÷17÷15 neither of which has happened. My home number that we had for 10+ years my now be lost forever.
2. When I signed up for Comcast service I was told that there would be a $ 99 install fee, I was charged over $ 150 for additional box charges that I was never made aware of and I did not authorize.
3. I ordered a X1 DVR cable box, the box that was installed doesn’t record at all!

Absolutely the worst piece of shit company on the planet. The customer service is beyond terrible, and their internet service is actually even worse.

Poor customer service!
I chatted with an online sales rep once and received a quote for basic internet and 10 cable channels for $ 39.99/month. I was told cable and modem would be free of charge. I then got disconnected from the chat before I could finalize the sale. I chatted again and ended up with someone named Nila. They informed me that there was no such cable/​internet deal for $ 39.99/month and instead it was $ 49.99/month and we had to pay $ 10/​month extra for the modem (which we wouldn’t even own, it would be on lend).
After I came to terms with the price difference, I asked about instillation. My parents received free instillation when they purchased Comcast, and I expected the same. Nope. That was an additional $ 39.99/month if we wanted someone to come on site and install. If we wanted to do it ourselves it was $ 10. I asked what the $ 10 was for as we were self installing so the fee didn’t make sense. They explained it was a fee to cover shipping costs. I asked why I wasn’t able to just pick up our equipment at the office and avoid the $ 10 fee. They then back tracked and said «Oh the fee is not for shipping». They literally just typed to me a minute ago that the $ 10 was for shipping. They said regardless if we picked it up or it was shipped to us, the $ 10 fee was unwavering.
Talk about mixed information! I think Comcast needs to make sure their employees are on the same page. Never have I ever been more frustrated. I wish so badly that there was another server provider to go with in my area. Nothing like being underquoted in price and then having all of these additional fees added on.
Comcast stinks!

We purchased Comcast’s services without a contract. Comcast then created a
email address for our account without our consent. They then indicated that they sent correspondence to this email address indicating they were initiating a 2-​year contract for our services. The correspondence apparently indicated that we had 30 days to opt out of the contract, or we would automatically be contracted with Comcast for 2 years.
I checked our
email for the first time today and found no record of this email. I printed a screenshot of my inbox and the two emails in the account.
I find this contracting certainly unethical and likely illegal. One cannot arbitrary create a means of communicating with a party only to compel then into a contract on an opt out basis.

Worse customer service I have ever had in my life, it gives me anxiety just thinking about it. Spent over a hour on the phone dealing with a situation that could have been resolved in minutes. I called in because I paid for a weeks worth of hotspot service which cost me $ 19.95. When I tried to use the wifi it would not allow me to log in, although Xfinity had already charged my account. I contacted them to either get a refund or get the issue resolved and proceeded to be transferred around several times, hung up on and transferred to departments that didn’t exist. When I finally got to the right person, I was told there was nothing that could be done and I would just have to wait to see if the charge came off of the account.
Also, if I (press 1 for English) that’s what I expect to get. It is not only frustrating for me as the client but also as the employee who is trying their hardest to resolve a issue but they have to transfer me because there is a communication barrier between us. To me it’s the companies fault not the representative instead of trying to be greedy put some effort in your customer service and maybe offer some continuing education classes in English… free of charge of course.

Xfinity is cheaper than Fios, but that’s the only advantage. It’s constantly cutting out and has horrible signal. I’m going back to Fios ASAP.

Calling Comcast and making them understand your question, issue or complaint will take up hours. Make sure to take a day off work and block out your schedule to resolve a Comcast issue.
We did want to pay the rental router fee so we ordered one online with no issue. When hubby drove in person to the Penn Hills retail location, HUGE trouble ensued. Not only would the manager there NOT understand the scope of what we wanted to do, she was rude and gave us unnecessary tasks to do as a customer. It just so happens the router we ordered online belonged to an obsolete account and the manager there had US contact the seller online to cancel his service (it already was). Not only would she not take back the Comcast router, she also didn’t know there was a way to use a non-​Comcast router, which is completely possible. These giant cable/​internet providers need to be beat down by the healthy competition of faster and better fiber optic networks so customers do not have to suffer through these time-​consuming customer service nightmares. Fire this manager from the Penn Hills branch. She is worthless.

Worst service I’ve ever had in my life. We called to have service set up two weeks ago, they made us wait a week because they needed someone to verify my address. Then they set up an appointment between 8 – 10, they never showed. We called and they tell us the person who set up the appointment didn’t put our phone number in correctly. We set up an appointment the next day from 12 – 5! We wasted our whole day by sitting around waiting for a cable guy that never came, again! We called and they tell us no one set up the appointment after confirming it with them day before. I’ll live with stealing wifi and netflix before I hand my money over to these people. They offered us nothing but eventually a call back from a «supervisor.» Do not waste your money with this company.

Comcast has the most HORRIBLE service I’ve ever had to deal with… they are complete scam artists I wish I could cancel everything I have w them but unfortunately they scammed me into a three yr contract without my knowledge because I moved… horrible people they ALWAYS overcharge me… AND anytime I have a problem w my service it’s RIDICULOUS to try to get thru to someone who can help you… constantly transferred or hung up on… I can’t stand dealing with COMCAST absolutely worthless… if I could give them zero stars… it’s would be too many…

DO NOT USE COMCAST XFINITY SERVICES. Worst service, ever. Horrible experience on the phone with them. They took a payment off my credit card and applied it to someone else’s account and then said mine would be delinquent because ‘they don’t have a payment from ME’. The rep said I would have to dispute the charge with my bank but that doesn’t have anything to do with them. THEY’RE THE ONES WHO TOOK THE PAYMENT. When I said I’d cancel service he said, «if we don’t have anything else to talk about then I guess this conversation is redundant.» Smh.

Terrible customer service! Don’t deal with them unless you have no alternative!
Like many Pittsburghers, I’m stuck with Comcast because they have a contract on my apt. building. (This is called a monopoly, by the way!) Otherwise, I’d probably deal with Verizon. While I’ve heard their customer service can also be dicey at times, I don’t think it’s as consistently horrible as Comcast’s.
Last week, I had a billing issue that needed to be resolved over the phone. If you think they’re swifter in the billing dept., think again! I sat on hold for 20 min. before talking to a live operator, and then I was transferred, after which I sat on the phone another 5 min. When I finally talked to someone in billing, they were helpful, and resolved the problem within 5 min. This begs the question, why in tarnation did I just sit on the phone waiting for 25 min. Based on my other experiences, this is par for the course, to the point that I refuse to call them unless absolutely necessary. They do have an online chat service, which I recommend over their «customer service» line.
In the past, I had an issue with one of their techs, who showed up earlier than the beginning of the time window stated, despite that I chose that time window to coincide with when I left work. (Note: this was one of Comcast’s own techs.) I had to rush home from work to let the tech in and avoid being charged for a no-​show. This tech, who installed my service, was totally incompetent, and couldn’t get my router to work with the modem he provided, even after 45 min. of trying. My friend, a computer scientist, was able to get them to work together in about 5 min. When I moved apartments and had to get the service reinstalled, the tech who came that time, who was with a subcontractor (ACI), was great – he showed up on time and got the modem and router to work together within about 15 min.
If you have to sign up for a plan with them, be sure to read the fine print. Like anther reviewer, I signed up for a plan that started at $ 30/​month, and then increased after 6 mos., and again after 1 yr. I knew this when I signed up, so I asked the representative who I dealt with if there was any penalty for downgrading to a less expensive plan with lower bandwidth, and she said there wasn’t. As the end of my first year of service approached, I asked to be downgraded so that I wouldn’t have to pay more than double the starting rate, and this was done without a problem. Now I pay «only» $ 50/​month for about half as much bandwidth as I had to begin with. Fortunately, I’m not a Netflix consumer – otherwise, I’d probably be frustrated to no end.
I don’t have cable, so I can’t personally speak to picture quality, etc. However, my parents, who used to have Comcast, switched to FIOS about 5 years ago and have been pretty happy with the service, and haven’t looked back. I’m sure I would have done so by now, too, if I had any choice in the matter!

Comcast. Sucks.

Comcast poor customer service and lack of installation when scheduled. I am 23 year retired naval officer that just recently moved back to pittsburgh. I set up cable and an install date of Monday sept 8^th. To not fault of my own I am Told the system cancelled that date and they could change install until the 9^th. This day was not as good as the 8 th for I had a small window of opportunity and the tech showed at 1010 on a 8 to 10 window. This did not work because of time constraints. After calling comcast and speaking to Andrea whom in a rude man told me «things happen» and now I am going to have to wait a week until another appointment is possible. Let me get this straight. Your system cancels my original appointment. Then your tech does not show to the appointment on time and I have to wait a week? Is that how you do business? Not, hey we are sorry for this let us get there as early as possible? No their customer service agent gives me am I don’t care attitude and when asked to speak to a supervisor and placed on hold, I am told no supervisor can take my call and they will call me back. I won’t hold my breathe. Terrible bussiness practices and poor if any care for customer service with this company..

Comcast always overcharges, provides poor service, and their customer service is inexcusable. I had a two year contract, was misled on the level of service, and was not told by the salesperson that the charges would go up after one year. When the contract expired, the charges again went up, this time by about 25%. Every time I’ve ordered pay per view, with a room full of friends, there has been an issue that required that I call their call center. And whenever I had an issue with service, or had a question regarding one of their indiscernible bills and had to call their customer service line, I’ve been transferred nonsensically or just hung up on. Comcast has been allowed to provide their services at a monopoly for too long.

worst service experience i ever encountered is this company. If you want to get billed for services you never requested then you call them then they do nothing about it, they went from $ 56/​month to $ 160 without me requesting one single additional service ! I don’t understand why this company still legally running in this country ! They told me they will not give me my money back and when i told the customer service supervisor i will sue them, she said «go ahead» !! Wow they know they are scam and they know they can get away with it because Americans just pay their bills and stay silent.

I’d rather stick needles in my eyes while chugging bleach than deal with a Comcast bill again.

I have called them DOZENS of times about my slow service. The latest time was after hours and I got «Summer» who had substandard English skills and did nothing but tell me about 6 times to restart my router. Then, I ask for her ID number and some identifying information and she says her name is «Chris.»
So, I am like wait a second… and then she says her real name is Chris, Summer is her «fake» name.
I don’t know what is going on here, but WTF!?! I wish they had FIOS or something else in my area!!! GRRRRR.

OK, I know this is an emotional subject. Those of you who have high blood pressure should stay from any television or internet service provider.

BUT, here is my thought about Comcast today. A few months ago we had problems with disruptive internet service. In the middle of the woods, at the bottom of a steep hill, we have very limited cell phone service. Vonage home phone service was through Comcast, our internet service provider.
Called Comcast. Intelligent automated, then personal response. Service tech showed up on-​time. Checked a few things. Replaced some connectors at the house and off the pole.
Random problems were still there a couple of days later. Called again. Upgrade in the problem status. Different tech. He came back in a day with a crew and replaced the line running underground from the pole drop to our home entry. Later another tech came by and buried the line underground in a very clean, undisturbed manner.
Since the line was replaced, there have been absolutely no problems.
Why was this fixed promptly without hassle? Here’s my opinion: I was polite to everyone I had contact with. Comcast Customer Service really has improved.
This was not a confrontational experience.
«Nice» usually works. Did for me.

My experiences with comcast have been quite the opposite. They have been helpful and often very helpful. They react to problems fast.
