Crunch

Looks a little shabby on the outside but lots of treadmills and elliptical machines to use inside! Decent amount of machines to use, free weights, and a huge room for classes like Zumba. Yes the treadmills and ellipticals are placed a little compact but I think for what you’re paying, Crunch is a great deal. I just graduated from UCI and it’s obviously not comparable but I needed a membership that was affordable. The enrollment and annual fee plus pro rated fee is high at other places.
When I enrolled it was literally $ 1! Annual fee is 39 and they are up front with you about all the fees!
I started with 9.95 and the second option is 19.95 which comes with classes, massage, and tanning. Then I upgraded to 24.95 a month, which comes with unlimited guest privileges cause my sister wanted to come. The classes are so fun!
Would recommend espesh for post grad students out of college hehe :)

Way to HOT in this gym!!! Way to many people. I’m considering moving on to other gym. OSHA has requirements. You need to adjust the thermostat. there’s a heatwave and your putting someone at risk of heat stroke. Not to mention it’s over populated for such a small gym…

So far okay, I go in the morning so it’s not so crowded. I usually end my workout by 830 so everyone is coming in by then. Avoid going there after 5 – 840 all the teens are there, really annoying. But other than that it’s okay. Has about 3 showers and about ten stalls. Has tons of lockers. Some of the people who work there are rude but most of the employees are nice only a few muscle head ones who think they are too cool
FYI: about 40% of the women I have seen the bathroom use it and DO NOT wash their hands after… For your safety clean the equipment before and after you use it. I can’t believe people are so disgusting SMH

I used to have a gym membership here a few years ago but cancelled because I moved. Just recently signed up again for a few months during the summer. I walked in on a Wednesday night around 840pm. There were two employees at the front desk looking at a computer. As I walked towards the front desk neither of them looked up at me until I got there. The female (possibly trainer) just looked at me with an unfriendly face and completely ignored me like I wasn’t even standing there and she just walked away. The other employee grabbed the scanner and I smiled at him and he scanned my card and continued on the computer and didn’t even make eye contact or say one word. This is Placentia. There is no need to be snobby and ignore your customers. I’m so glad I didn’t spend too much to come here otherwise I would cancel based on the very poor and unprofessional customer service I was given.

This is a great gym. Weights, cardio. Everything you pretty much need to get a good work out with no hassles. Definitely got my money’s worth aka $ 10/​mo by coming in almost every single day.

Very very hot in this gym. I’m guessing since they keep the back door open they don’t even have the AC on!!! Too bad I pre paid.

I went to 24 hour fitness off imperial first to check it out and obviously it is very big and has a lot of perks. The downfall that lead me to crunch was the price and they didn’t have any deals. Even paying full upfront. They do not offer VIP. Then the recruiter lied and said that we had to sign up by the next day to get the deal. It wasn’t even a deal. We went to crunch… Walked in the door with all of these good looking guys smiling and were very polite. They were not pushy at all. Gave me the price and the class calendar right off the bat which was between $ 20 – 30. Wow!!! What a great deal! Signing up was extremely easy. This place is great for classes, cardio, or weights. There’s all types of people there. The staff gives you that feeling of a go getter attitude. They want to help you and want you to succeed. This is the place to go. Do not waste your money at 24 hour. Try crunch out first!!!

Cheap, big and has what it needs.
It could use more flat benches and lacks some of the bells and whistles that more expensive gyms have, but it has more than enough.

So far so good.
Don’t go at Prime Time (5:00−7:00).
Front desk staff seems to be confused on policies.
Not the cleanest, but not the worst either. I used to be an operations manager for a competitor so I can’t help but notice certain things.

They are a good gym for hitting the weights and doing your cardio. Weight time is limited for me at least. I don’t do the classes so can’t judge. They have a hydro massage bed that’s pretty good.
It’s not like 24hr fitness or LA fitness. People come here to lift and workout. I rarely see people socialize around a machine.

There is a lot I like about this gym with very few disadvantages (if any).
+ The staff is awesome! I just made the switch from L.A. Fitness and the crew here at Crunch is super rad! Friendly and outgoing.
+ $ 10 a month, seriously can’t beat that.
+ The weights are reracked in the proper locations! Apparently this is a difficult task to accomplish because all the other gyms in the area I considered couldn’t manage to do this.
+/​-​Small gym with a good vibe. Just kind of small with longer waits when it’s peak hours.

I’m lowering my rating of this location for a few reasons. Although I still work out there, the place has changed. The women’s locker room is not kept up very well, some of the equipment seems to be in dire need of updating, and with the amount of personnel changes that have occurred over the last few years, the welcoming, «we’re all in this together» feeling that used to be there seems to have gone away.
One of the main reasons I had given this place 5 stars was due in large part to the personal trainer I worked with there. As you can read from my previous reviews, working with Steve Jurich helped me lose a great deal of weight and feel confident to continue working out on my own. He has since moved on from this location and opened his own place nearby. I have written a review of that place as well.

I literally have no complaints. The machines always work, it’s a great price and the restroom is clean. That’s really all I need!

I love this facility. Everyone is kind and helpful. Unlimited use of the classes and gym. My only concern is some of the really great instructors have left, and the replacements need to step it up. I still like it here and will recommend.

Love coming here! Got a great deal for $ 0 initiation, $ 20 a month for myself + a guest (valid at all locations), and $ 60 annual fee.
My favorite are the classes — I use the Crunch app to keep track of what I want to go to each week.
On complaint was when I signed up for my membership, I got a free personal training session — and after it was over, I felt very pressured by the trainer to purchase a PT package. Because he basically wouldn’t let me leave, I bought the package and then cancelled it the next day. Make sure that if you have this opportunity that you say something to another team member because I wish I would have.
Despite that experience though, I truly love the gym. It is clean, has new equipment, and is never too crowded to enjoy a workout.

Decent gym as it «gets the job done».
Membership is cheap. There are more fees than just the $ 10/​month so READ THE CONTRACT before feeling «tricked» when the contract told you that the whole time. READ THE CONTRACT.
Overall, it’s definitely not the best gym, but it’s good enough for someone who is only here during school breaks, esp. for the price!
Cons:
— No AC? The «dance room» has AC for sure. But the main gym doesn’t.During the summer when it got incredibly hot outside, the gym would be pretty humid. Now, I know we are here to break a sweat, but my body gets so heated (heat + intensive workout) that I have to stop. But I know I am paying $ 10 /​month so it’s what I get haha.

I’ve been a member of Crunch for over two years now and for all those that are whining about the cleanliness, get over yourselves! It’s a $ 10 membership gym — if you want perfection, go somewhere else. Sheeesh! I’ve never ever noticed «dust balls» or «gum» left on machines, ever, and I’m in this gym no less than five times a week! The staff is always kind and helpful (Steve will offer up a high-​five whenever he sees me and he’s never been my trainer!) and the women’s locker rooms is fine too. People, it’s a GYM, it’s not a 5-​star hotel. Yes, it get packed, so avoid the peak hours. No, it doesn’t have a pool or a sauna (again, $ 10!) If anything ever breaks down they repair it quickly. The music does suck from time to time (the also play TERRIBLE 80s dude rock) but hellooooo… that’s what earbuds are for — listen to your own jams!
My one and only complaint and the only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because this gym REALLY needs WIFI. Placentia is notorious for having pockets of bad internet connection and CRUNCH is no exception. Having said that, I’ve found that when I am on the stair master I can get a connection. *shrug*

Idk why everyone is saying this is such a bad gym. It does get busy and they sometimes play TERRIBLE 80’s chick music but it’s a nice gym, especially for the price. The equipment is always brand new and when it brakes it’s fixed within a day or two.
Just don’t go between 4pm-​7pm, too many damn ppl getting off work.
$ 20 I can sign-​in one person with me so I take my friend who’s in the military when he’s in town, and my girlfriend. Good price.
Also it can get warm in there, I try and go early morning.
But seriously who chooses the damn music??? It sucks.

The main reason this place only gets 3 stars is for one huge reason: the smelly, disgusting, unkept, musky mens room.
Come on lets keep it real. You expect us to change in there, shower in there, do our business in there, and weigh ourselves in there; than the absolute least you can do is keep the place clean for us. My wife and sister also members have one main complain about this place and guess what it is? Yep you guessed it, the bathroom for the same reasons.
At times i have gone in on a Monday, seen pieces of trash on the floor or empty water bottles on top of the lockers, and returned on Thursday and the trash only to be in a different spot and the bottle tipped over on its side rather than standing up.
Yes i understand the other gym members have to do their part in keeping the locker room clean but where we fail the staff should step in. I shouldnt see embeded dirt onto the tile all week long, you cant hold members accountable for not mopping can you? You cant hold the gym members accountable for dirty urinals and walls either.
As for the gym itself, its well worth signing up. Friendly helpful staff, tons of equipment and great atmosphere. Once the locker room situation gets rectified ill change my review but until than ill advise those who are looking for a gym for working out this is a great affordable option but as far as the cleanliness goes in the locker its a germaphobes worst nightmare.

I had a good, yet brief experience at the gym. I was here only for a few months but only because it was so far from my house.
Cheapest gym ever! It was $ 10 a month, $ 1 initial fee, or $ 20 a month for the premium membership where you could bring a friend whenever, and get free classes, tanning booth and hydromassage.
The reason I’m giving 5 stars is because they made it so easy for me to cancel my membership. The only reason I left was the distance from my house was a problem, so it was a relief they didn’t charge me a cancellation fee. When I tried to cancel my golds gym membership (because they basically stole hundreds of dollars from me by charging me beyond what they were supposed to) they charged me another $ 100 or so –or maybe even a lot more, don’t remember it’s been a few years– just to cancel. So ridiculous. So it was really shocking to me how great their policy is on this.
So yeah. Never go to Golds. If you live around here go here
