Not a reliable contractor. They don’t back their own work. I.E.: VeerKamp did a $ 26k grading, paving and culvert job for our road association. They failed to compact the soil and gravel above the newly installed culverts and the paving has collapsed. It has been almost one year and they still have not returned to repair it. They have failed to make any contact to correct this issue.

Today, October 7, 2015, VeerKamp fixed our road. I have increased my rating from one star to three. Wish I could do better but it took way too many calls and Unilocal to get this result.
I hope that VeerKamp can improve their customer service. They were a very respected company.

In spring of this year, we decided to get our driveway leveled and repaved plus some concrete work done around our house due to drainage issues. We got 3 bids from local companies, and went with this company after getting a great impression from a foreman for their company at the time, Jim. He came out 3 – 4 times to make sure that what we wanted to do with our large combined project, they would subcontract out the concrete work, was feasible, reasonable, and that our vision was the same as his. He spent the most time on the bid before we even signed a contract, which greatly impressed us, plus this company has a very good reputation.
We signed with them in May, and set up the work for June. Due to some personnel issues, like Jim leaving their company, they had to postpone our project and that is when we ran into some miscommunications. The concrete subcontractor and the paving foreman were to coordinate demo, leveling and concrete installation, and due to staff shortage, there was no coordination which ended up with issues on where the driveway paving and the concrete should match. However, after expressing our frustrations to the supervisor, Tony, the communication and coordination improved significantly.
Their replacement foreman, Martin, was professional, knew his job, and demonstrated his understanding of what was needed to fix the initial issues and how to carry the driveway project forward. Our driveway project turned out really nice, and we were happy in our relationship with Martin, and his communication with us. He helped us with fixing some of the concrete problems due to initial lack of coordination, and did a great job on our driveway.
In the end, despite some initial problems, our project came out mostly as we envisioned it. We also were impressed by the owner’s response to our letter expressing our frustrations during the project. He personally called us to to clear up any remaining issues we might have had, to address and redress our complaints, and was gracious about accepting responsibility.
We would recommend this company as a business that is responsive to its customers. We personally will be using this company again to seal our driveway, and are enjoying our new driveway.
