I’ve been here many many times and I’ve never had a problem. They always do a great job. What I love about this place is that they’ve never tried to sale me crap I don’t need or want, or do extra work on my car when there is no good reason for it. They are more honest than what I’ve experienced with other mechanics.

Extremely sad that now I’ve moved away and can’t keep coming here. This is the most honest garage I’ve EVER visited. They’ve kept my car ship shape and not charged me extras or tried to cheat me. I’ve price checked and they’ve consistently offered me a lower price. I’m about an hour away now, but I’m still thinking of waiting until I’m in the neighborhood to get my oil changes and any repairs done so I can keep coming to this wonderful place.
The waiting room has free Wifi and they’ll turn the annoying TV down if you ask. They’re also really fast.

Took my car to Discount Tire to get my tires rotated only to discover that at 20k miles, they were dead. What?! Because of the wear patterns (plus all the crazy potholes we have in Northeast Dallas), I decided it would be best to get a wheel alignment before I had new tires put on the next day. Now, who to call…
After reading Unilocal reviews and upon the recommendation of another well-​reviewed mechanic in Plano, I decided to bring my car to MasterTech and hope they could get me in. This is a no frills place and I was okay with that. I arrived around 8:00am and was the only other person in the waiting area. They quickly took my information and pulled my car into the bay for the alignment. Within 45 minutes it was done, and the older guy told me some of the markers were so bad they didn’t even register on the computer. Huh, guess that was the problem! He also gave me their special price right now even though I didn’t have a coupon, and I thought that was really great customer service on their part. I was not hassled for any other repairs. I told them up front that my shocks and struts were broken and I was not interested in replacing them at this time, and not once did anyone mention it. As a female, I know a fair amount about cars so I don’t worry too much about being hassled, but it’s always fantastic when you don’t get hassled to begin with. Kudos to MasterTech for a job well done with great customer service!

Been taking my cars here for years. Honest and quick.
Just bought a new vehicle, and they do not want to work with the after-​market warranty company. Thus the 4 stars. Otherwise they are perfect.
I have sat in their waiting area and connected to their internet to do work while waiting for them to fix my vehicles. Nice.

This place is very honest. They only do work that needs to be done and they don’t make up fake repairs. Their prices are fair. It’s so rare to find a mechanic you can trus

I think this is a good repair shop that doesn’t handle being overwhelmed very well. I took my car in today (Friday morning) around 11 AM. I asked the guy at the front desk how long it would be before my car was looked at. The AC had been making a strange sound (buzzing sound from the dashboard related to the fan), and I just wanted to see how much it would cost to get it fixed. He told me it would be maybe an hour or two because they were pretty busy, but that they would call me as soon as they pinpointed the problem to give me a quote. FIVE HOURS later and I still haven’t received a call, so I call them to see what’s going on. The guy tells me they haven’t even taken a look at my car, and he doesn’t know if it’ll even be today! I told him I was given a time estimate of a few hours not a whole day, but his response was that «the guy at the front has no idea what’s going on back with the cars.» Well, if that’s true, I think the employees need to do a better job of communicating with each other. If I had known there was a chance of me having to leave my car overnight just to get looked at I would’ve taken it somewhere else or just pushed the whole thing to another day instead of being carless all Friday. When he realized how frustrated I was with the situation, he said he’d try to look at it sooner and let me know. He called me back about an hour later telling me the motor blower and cage have to both be replaced, but that he’d try to have the parts in and the car fixed before they closed at 6 (phew– because I needed my car back ASAP). I got there at 530 to pick up the car, and apparently when they were replacing the motor blower, they saw that my filter had gotten «sucked in?» So now they had to order that part and replace the filter as well. I’m glad they caught that and were able to get it all taken care of, but at this point in the day I didn’t feel very trusting. Not sure how the filter gets sucked in or how that wasn’t noticed when they were initially trying to diagnose the problem, but I mean, I’m not a mechanic. I asked the woman who was helping me if she could explain any of the problems they found so I could at least be at peace of mind that the work that I was paying for was valid and honest, but she didn’t have any answers for me. All I could think in the back of my head was, «was it just the filter causing that sound; did those two other parts actually have the get replaced? or did they just charge me for it because they had already ordered the parts and gotten started on it by the time they saw that the filter had gotten sucked into that compartment?» Who knows. By this point I just wanted to pay and get out of there.
Overall, I think my experience would have been better if the person that worked on my car came to the front to actually explain to me what was going on with my car-​especially because I was clearly weary at this point about the honesty of the service. If the person helping me couldn’t answer my questions, I would have appreciated it if she had found someone that could. Also, if you’re busy and may not even get to my car before closing time, please tell me so before I leave my keys with you. I think this place bit off more than it could chew today, and I’m curious if this is a common occurrence here.
I left 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 because I did feel the pricing was fair for the work that was done on the car, and I did appreciate that the man I spoke to on the phone picked up on the urgency in my tone and took the car in finally. If it hadn’t been for him, I was going to pick my car up and take my business elsewhere. I have a crazy feeling I wouldn’t have been contacted & my car would’ve just sat there untouched until tomorrow morning if I hadn’t called them though =\

Needed to get front wheel hubs replaced. Received a couple of quotes from other places in Plano, the highest being almost $ 900.
Mastertech got it done for $ 450.
The car runs great now. They didn’t try to sell me any other repairs at all, which I appreciate. They have free wifi even, which is a bonus.

Went in today (Wednesday) just before noon to get the ac in my car recharged with freon. They are first come, first serve but got my car in right away and all was done by 1pm. The ac in my car blows cold again and I’m a happy customer! :D
Comfortable waiting area with a tv & coffee/​soda while you wait.

Wonderful people and they did a great job on my car! The A/​C went out on my car Sunday and I took it in Monday. They did have to order parts but by Tuesday morning my A/​C was blowing cold. June is not the time in Texas not to have A/​C!
They also charged me $ 250 less than the first quote I got Sunday. That’s a big deal to me! If I ever have any other issues, they are now my new mechanics for life!
And yes they now have free wifi while you are waiting!

They were honest and straight-​forward. The work came in under the original estimate.

I have been using this shop for many years. They are honest and do a quality job as far as 4-​wheel alignment job. You just have to be there early for the first come first serve.
The free alignment inspection offer ads from those CB joints is just another bait-​and-​switch selling tactics. They require to install rear wheel alignment shims for almost $ 200.00 and they also recommended seven jobs close to $ 2,000.00 and most of the them can be DIY jobs.

poor service and non professional at all!!! I had four new tires change on 4÷24÷14 in costco and went to Mastertech for tire alignment. After only 7 weeks, I went to my mechanic in Davis auromobile who told me my front new tires are worn out due to improper alignment and Mastertech owed me 2 new tires. I went back to Costo to look at the tires and I was told the «improper alignment» made my new tire worn put. So I went to mastertech and they denied it and never apologize or pay me back for any loss or damage.
For their unprofessional skills, I have to pay for extra 2 tires and another tire alignment. I feel regret to purchase their service from Groupon and use MASTERTECH. DO NOT TRUST THEM AND DO NOT THINK THEY ARE EXPERIENCES. THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBILE !!!

Old facility. … not a big deal. Rude service… BIG DEAL! No wifi for customers trying to be productive with their time.
Asked the man who I was led to believe is the owner if they had wifi he said yes but could not share the code. I asked if he could just type it in my pc because there was some work I needed to finish and was on a deadline. He just said no and continued what he was doing.
Not a welcoming bone in this man’s body. Definitely won’t be returning!

Honest! I went to other Auto repair shop and was told that I needed to replace boht of my remotes to my car. The total was $ 478. I spoke with the owner at Mastertech and they only needed new batteries. $ 8.45

Brought my car here after the dealership recommended $ 500+ in brake work. Mastertech inspected the brakes and said the work was unncessary — cost: $ 20 for the inspection. George Costanza was right — getting your car repaired at a dealership is like flushing money down the toilet. Honest mechanics can be hard to find — in the future, I will definitely bring my car here instead of the dealership.

I usually would never ever disturb anyone on a long weekend. But, my car does not feel this way. I had major major issues in the car — check engine light flashing. I had bought a wheel alignment from them and if the car issues had not popped up I would not go to them. Due to my office hours, I really have no other day except the weekend. So, I thought that if I’m going for an alignment I’ll get it fixed as well because I knew what the problem was — faulty ignition coil.
I went to them and they say they have no diagnostics guy that day (??) — which sort of felt weird. It’s like saying that our restaurant doesn’t have a chef but our waiters will serve you whatever is left over or whatever they can make.
They did my alignment quickly and I was satisfied. I cut 1 star for the lack of diagnostics guy but the other star was cut due to other reasons. This is a family owned business and it sort of really really really shows, which you do not want it to because you’re running a professional establishment. A professionally run shop would have had atleast 1 diagnostics mechanic on that day. Many people came and were kept waiting while the staff here was roaming around flustered. Does not give a solid impression. As an example, some guy comes inside and he’s giving high fives to the mechanics who get to his car quicker than others. I really understand that and have no problem with it but in front of everyone, really ??
Secondly, even if they had the diagnostics guy — they did not have the parts and I would have had to leave it over there for at least 5 days where they would call meone day to let me know what the problem is, one day spent on ordering parts, the quote etc.
I went to another shop who had me fixed in no time.

Love these guys! The first time I went was for a rattling noise I heard when I accelerated. Of course it stopped rattling once I brought it in. They looked at it thoroughly and couldn’t find the problem, so they didn’t charge me! Yesterday I brought it in certain that I would need a new transmission, but they told me it just u-​joints and fixed it! Runs like a dream.

After reading all the glowing reviews about Master Tech, I was mindful of them when my front brakes started making a grinding noise. It’s been 3 years since my last front break job, so it wasn’t entirely unexpected that they needed work. I stopped by just before 7:30AM to drop off the car, and also asked them to rotate the tires, and put on a new set of wheel covers. They promised to call with an estimate, but said worse case scenario would be around $ 350 if the rotors were damaged and had to be replaced. I got a call 2 hours later, telling me that the noise was from the brake pads glazing over, and I still had 50% left on my pads and rear drums! No need to service the brakes at all!!! I paid $ 20 and change for the tire rotation, and that’s it. They’ve earned my business from now on, honesty like this is very hard to find.

I have been to Mastertech several times over the past 2 years for work on my 2002 Honda Civic.
After moving to TX from NY in 2010 I didn’t know where to go when my A/​C went out at the beginning of the summer. I went to a GoodYear at the advice of one of my colleagues, who advised that my entire A/​C unit would need to be replaced for approximately $ 3000. I then took it to Mastertech who advised that I was just low on freon and filled it up for a mere $ 60. A couple months later, the A/​C fan unit stopped working, took it straight to Mastertech who repaired it quickly and at a reasonable cost.
Most recently I took the car in for a loud clanging noise coming from the rear of the car when making right turns. Initially they thought they fixed it by tightening the spare tire, but offered to go for a drive with me to see if we could recreate the noise. After the drive, we all confirmed we still heard the noise, so they took it back to the shop for another look. They determined it was a result of some exhaust work I had done a few months prior elsewhere, that it was not harmful to the vehicle nor unsafe to drive, and that I should take it back to the muffler shop for them to fix it. When I went to pick up my car, they advised there was no charge for the diagnostics!
In all, this is the most honest car repair shop I have ever experienced. They are fair, treat me with respect, and provide good work for a reasonable price. The only downside is that they do not take appointments, and as a result are often quite busy — likely due to the excellent service they provide and the loyal customers who continue to patronize the shop.
