Northside at Legacy

Worst apartment community to live in they never return your calls. the number is always on voicemail the call center as no clue on whats going on. The staff never checks there voicemail and they are very rude.

This place is nice, I’ve lived here with my wife for about four years. The original plan was to live here until we became acquainted with the area, then purchase a home. However, we fell in love with the community and came to realize that the shops are perfectly located, and accecable to everywhere. The Shops at Legacy are great! The area is mostly comprised of young professionals, so if your interested in a post-​college party scenario, you’ll have more luck at the near by «Austin Ranch» community in The Colony. Here at «The Shops» we have several social options within walking distance, and numerous others close by. Unlike many apartment communities, this place is exceptionally pet friendly, allowing several breeds others forbid, as well as dog parks and abundant waste stations. To list a few of the amenities, are several «resort style» pools, and gyms loaded with all the machines and equipment (in working order) your heart desires. We now have a mini mart, as well as new race track gas station down the street which have been awesome! Especially for those times you get home and don’t feel like driving all the way to the ‘Big Store’. Granted, this place my not suit everyone’s needs, but we like calling it home.

Maintenance is quick to respond. The office staff however seem to not be as organized. Parking is difficult because a lot of then aren’t residence. There needs to be enforcement on parking permits. There is also no enforcement on pet litter. Otherwise, the residence are nice and the apartment is decent.

The staff in this complex is very rude. Merdith is very rude she talks to you like she does not want to be bothered. They lost my deposit and was not friendly about the situation. I have lived here 3 weeks and regret I every moved here. They were not honest about the amenities. I was told my building would have a trash shoot. It does not I have to walk my trash across the street. You pay for a secure building, they allow residents to prop doors open with Rocks. My neighbors above me party every night, Jumps around or does hard walking. The location and area is nice, This complex really needs better staff, management. People who cares about their paying residents and has good customer service.

Even cat walk will make big noise downstairs. Staffs are not friendly
Customer care will never respond.
Not worth of paying expensive rent.

Whatever you do, don’t live near one of the pools! So loud at all hours of day and night. Screaming kids all day and loud partners all nights-​even week nights!
Also, if your building 11 you better pray you are on 2^nd floor close to the stairs because there is one elevator and it’s a nightmare!!!
In person management is nice and somewhat helpful, the problem is they can NEVER be contacted by phone. 100% of the time you’re directed to their answering service who doesn’t know and can’t do anything.
If you get an apartment on the first or second floor not near a pool, you may be good… still a great location and nice place. But those two factors are causing me to move.

Put in a work order for MOLD a month ago. Enough said…

Parking is my main complaint. I have lived I a few building and unduly regret resigning my lease. My clicker does not work most of the time and I’ll be forced to park on the street… Which is a battle in itself. I have just now received my 2^nd parking violation.
I actually got to the top of the 5^th floor parking and there were 0 empty. All the «paid» for «reserved» parking spots seemed to be empty. I had to reverse all the way back to park on the street and by street make a parking spot at the end bc there was no options! My boyfriend parked 2 blocks away in our friends garage and rode his bike home! (It was in his trunk) I’m a girl and at 12:30 after getting off of work with cash I can’t risk walking multiple blocks to get to my first floor apartment.
Maintenance is always great. I have no other issues but this one. I now am paying my second ticket bc I parked next to handicap not in it. There’s enough space for two cars and I got a ticket. I guess I should have parked in the middle of the street bc that may have been a cheaper ticket.

I will just say, I hv already started to pack and I still have a few months remaining on my lease. I have moved to three different units in this complex since moving LESS than a year ago! In The first apartment there were gnats that maintenance couldn’t get rid of, and possibly dogs bringing in dead rats and rabbits from the empty field and leaving them in the hallway. My AC unit also went out and it took me putting a work order in 3xs for them to get serious! They had to give me a temporary ‘unit’ that only cooled my bedroom… and it was placed in the window of my bedroom which kept the window half open… not safe for a single female on the first floor!
I was able to move but not without multiple emails to management! And you have to use their ‘cleaning service’ so you are ‘guaranteed your deposit’ — they too are a rip off!
Nothing has improved. Management is a nightmare. Anytime you bring anything to their attention, their response is ‘this is the first we’ve heard of that…’ Or ‘thanks for bringing that to our attention’
I am very disappointed that this is such an amazing area, within close proximity to so much, yet the upkeep and pride in this property is null.
The elevators never work consistently. The gates to get in the property with ur key fob never works… anyone can walk in. Which I suppose that is a plus since they have yet to put my name in the directory to allow me the option of letting my guests up. Not only do the elevators not always work… u will find it vandalized with someone sticking their gum on the buttons or putting caulk over the walls of the elevators,
If you have a package! Hahaha… just walk in the office, go in the back closet where there are hundreds of packages… and walk out with whatever u want, because they don’t care! Again, I am packing and ready to move out of this place.

This is my first and probably last review. I’ve had such a bad experience that I decided I needed to share my experience. First, I do want to say I love these apartments! The inside of the apartments are really nice, and they don’t have any breed restrictions (main reason I chose this place). So why the 1 star? Well when I first came to check out these apartments everybody in the leasing office was so nice. Now it’s like I don’t even exist. I can literally walk in and all the leasing agents will look at me then go back to what they were doing. No how may I help you, nothing! One time I was even standing right next to two of them and they completely ignored me until I said something. I was standing there for like 5 minutes. Also they stopped with the doggie poop DNA program (weird but it worked). Basically they would take ur dogs DNA and if u didn’t pick up their poop they would fine u. Since they stopped there is poop everywhere! I don’t get why people can’t pick up their dogs poop.

I just can’t give it less than a star.
I’ve been living at Northside for over a year, at first it was the dream, great amenities, great floorplans, elevators, and can’t beat the location.
Not everything that glitters is gold. Having an elevator is pretty darn amazing when you’re moving, or even bringing groceries up, but these elevators don’t always work. Sometimes these elevators will be out for days. When we first moved here we overlooked it, we were fascinated by the glitter. The days when the elevators do work, they’re covered in dog pee, broken glass bottles, alcohol, or a sticky soda. Don’t mind complaining all you’ll get from the leasing office is «We’ll take a look, we can’t control these situations».
A few months ago management sent out a letter to remove everything from our patio since they’d be sending people out to paint. Days, weeks, months passed, noone came. Then on a random day as I was walking out of my shower a see two guys out on my balcony — painting. They’d leave and show up two days later, and then 3days later. No notice.
Parking — parking is a pain in my building. It’s part of your rent you get a clicker (that never works no matter how many times you change it), but there’s never any parking. There’s cars that have never been moved since I moved in, motorcycles taking up car spots, visitors parking inside. Parking outside is ridiculous, you’re lucky if you find a spot. Basicallly you can’t leave in your car after 4:45pm everyday — unless its a Friday and it’s nice out. Since they obviously oversold the parking garage, people have opted to park in between the columns. I did this a few weeks ago and my car got towed. But yet there ‘s cars parked inside in the same spot with no sticker that have never been towed. When I went to management I was told that there’s always parking spots and cars with no stickers are always towed and my favorite; «You should’ve known better».
The pool — lovely pool, but be prepared to be treated like a criminal when you get checked at the entrance. Yes safety first but when non residents come in and are the reason for brawls, where’s the so called security?
Speaking of security the locked doors coming from outside the building are never «locked». You can access the building without your clicker.
Recently we got some fire extinguishers installed along the hallways, the so called maintenance crew drilled all of our AT&T wires, cutting our internet and cable, called it in and lo and behold, the At&T people were here before the maintenance crew came to give a look. Obviously it wasn’t their fault, management said «They know what they’re doing».
They claim to run a tight background check on residents, my upstairs neighbor is constantly playing loud music, smoking and drinking on her balcony throwing her cigarette butts all over mine. Sometimes even find her empty alcohol bottles, you can tell she’s on something.
Talked to the manager about all these issues earlier, she was nothing but condescending implying that I’m making things up. Asking me where I get my information from, seriously I live here, doesn’t take much to time to see the obvious.
STAY away, rent is too high to put up with stuff like this.

If you’re thinking of leasing here I would seriously think twice about it. I had a very recent experience with a leasing agent named Danielle that went very well one day and completely upside down the next.
I set an appointment to view two of the many floor plans as the area seemed to have everything I was searching for since arriving in Texas. I met with Danielle who was initially very pleasant and after seeing the two available apartments ventured down to the leasing office to discuss details.
During our meeting she informed of the available move-​in date, the lease amount, the application, processing and deposit amount and the extra’s it would cost for parking and so on… I advised her that I did have one other location to look at and would make my decision later in the day. She advised me that she would hold the apartment that I chose at the monthly lease amount that we had discussed until 6:30pm the next day.
Later that afternoon I sent her an email asking her to provide me with the cost of a 6-​month lease as compared to a 12-​month lease… She replied that a 6-​month lease is more but if I wanted to go with a 7-​month lease the amount would be the same… Not sure I understand that but I whatever… So I advised her in my response email that I had some things to take care of in the morning but would be in later the next day to get the ball rolling…
Here’s where the problems began — It was about 3:30pm and I was just getting ready to head over to get the application process started when I received and email from Danielle asking me if I was still interested and that the rate had gone up since the day before by $ 45 a month… I was a shocked and sent her a quick reply that she guaranteed me the apartment for 24-​hours at the price she offered the day before. I was already on my way over to see her so I decided to go and discuss it face to face as I felt like there was a little bait and switch going on here.
I received her email response just as I arrived at the complex… Basically she stated that I must have misunderstood her the day before and that she would be happy to see if she can get approval for a reduction to the lower price discussed previously.
I advised her that I wasn’t happy as I had offered her a verbal commitment in the afternoon the same day we first spoke and reminded her of what she had agreed to before I left the previous and further reminded her that not only did I have a friend with me at the time that had sat right there and heard our entire conversation but that this was either a mistake on her part and if so she should fix-​it or she was playing games with me…
That’s when she advised me that she would prefer not leasing to me and that she would rather I go somewhere else and walked away to another part of the office.

I have lived here for five years and the level of tenant services has significantly deteriorated.
The location is great. The floor plans are well thought out and nice.
The biggest complaint for me are the maintenance work orders and overall cleanliness of the building. The building has not been properly cleaned in months. The elevators don’t get detail cleaned ever. Trash pick up in a building of over 50 apartments is once a week. The stench from the trash chute during the summer is unbearable.
It’s becoming not worth it for me to bear all of this just for the location.

The management is hit or miss. It started out great when we first moved in. Now that Lauren has taken over things are less tenant friendly. I lived here for two years before buying a house. I definitely saw a decline in quality of tenants over the years.
The walls at this place are pretty thin. I heard my next door neighbor doing the nasty a few times. I would hear every step the upstairs neighbors took. This is the worst part, if you do stay here get a top floor. The guy above me had four kids in a two bedroom apartment who would constantly jump off furniture. A couple of times it almost come to fist to cuffs. After multiple complaints, they were forced to move at the end of their lease.
A suggestion about the pets… its failed having people pick up after their own pets. Its obvious walking around you see this. Why not have the maintenance guys do a daily run through?
Lots of bud smokers in the complex. You smell it walking through the place from certain doors, all the time.
Overall the place was nice. We had an upgraded place with wood floors and granite counter tops and SS appliances.
They screwed me on the deposit. Gave them $ 335, then gave me a check for 12.80 and I left the place is better condition than I got it (except for the oven, I didn’t feel like cleaning that.).
If your single, this is a cool place, But married life here not so much.

Northside is the best place to live! The office staff is great! They are alway there when you need something. We have lived here for 4 years now and I don’t see us moving ever. We have truely found our home here. The maintance is good guys, friendly and always looking to help. We have a disabled animal that loves it here the sideways make it easy for him to get around and he love the girls in the office Rocco said «Hi». If you are an animal lover you will love it here. Thank you, Northside for making us feel like family.

New complex, ultra modern; you don’t see hip places like this around this part of Dallas.
I’ve rented here for four years now. Management is friendly and responsive (except for dogs that poop everywhere and bark all night) to maintenance issues. Rent price is reasonable; you’re paying extra for being right next to the Shops at Legacy.
Biggest problem at Northside @ Legacy is the dogs. There are tons of dogs here, with owners who don’t pick up their dogs’ poop, and who allow them into the elevators to urinate and gas out the elevator for weeks. Management couldn’t care less, as I’ve complained numerous times to no avail about these nonstop barkers that keep me up at night.
