Heaven From Home

Dr. Wensing and Linda were incredible given the circumstances. They made it very easy to text them for an appointment, given that it would have been so hard to make the actual phone call about putting our dog Ace down. They were extremely responsive and to our home within a few hours. From the moment they arrived they were very sympathetic to our situation. They were extremely sweet with Ace and our second dog Dexter. They explained everything thoroughly as we went through this very difficult time. They let us decide where we would have him pass and when the final shots would be given and even offered us some time with him after he passed. They were so sweet to think of giving us some of his hair as well as a clay paw print, it was not something we would have thought about, but boy do they mean the world to us now. We are forever grateful to them for making one of the most difficult situations just a little bit easier for us and allowing us to make him comfortable at home and not freaked out by going to the vet just one more time. I hope to not have to use them again, but assuming I will one day they will be the ones I call and I will absolutely recommend them to friends and family in a similar situation. Thank you to the both of them for doing what they do.

I believe that having Dr. Wensing come to my home to help my very loved cat of 15 years pass on was one of the best decisions I ever made. I’d been in communication with her for a while, and she encouraged me to set an earlier appointment because she sensed Gremlin was ready to go. She and her nurse made time on a Sunday for us, and the entire experience was incredibly positive and loving. Dr. Wensing’s caring behavior towards Gremlin kept me from losing it and allowed me to say a meaningful and upbeat goodbye. She explained every step of the process for me, and her nurse did an excellent job assisting. I got to hold Gremlin to the very end. Although I am very sad to lose him, with Dr. Wensing’s help I was able to tell him all the ways he was such a wonderful friend. She let me give him the best thing I could do for him at the end — a peaceful passing at home surrounded by love. Dr. Wensing’s service is absolutely incredible. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who has a pet that they need to say goodbye to. She takes care of everything for you — you’re just there to help your pet move on to a better place.

Dr. Vanessa was a guardian angel during a terribly sad time. She is kind, attentive, loving and an expert at what she does. I cannot recommend her more highly. She took her time, answered all our questions, walked us through everything, loved my 15 year old yellow lab, Faith and loved us. Dr. Vanessa is an angel walking here on earth!

I don’t think there’s much I can add here that everyone else hasn’t.
We had Mia for almost ten years, and she wound up with a very aggressive form of Lymphoma. Within a week, she went from the precious baby we all loved to a pup who had the hardest time breathing and couldn’t get up and didn’t even enjoy her car rides anymore. It was devastating to watch her heath deteriorate by the day.
We really didn’t want to take her to the vet for euthanasia, as she was never a fan of doctors. Luckily, in our search, we found Dr Wensing. She was so compassionate and so sweet and our Mia – who hadn’t gotten up or responded to anyone in a day – actually went up to greet her with her tail wagging.
I swear, I couldn’t imagine a better way for Mia to go. She was surrounded by people she loved. And Dr Wensing let us go at our own pace. She was soft and patient and so warm. She was sure we knew everything that was going on, and did everything to make it easier on us. It was hard, but I know we could have had a lot harder time and Mia would have, too.
Like others have mentioned, she had those keepsakes – and she had a lot extra! We asked for an extra pawprint for my sister who was out of town, and she was so happy to oblige. Even as everyone was crying she came and hugged us warmly and gave us the support and advice we needed. She truly was wonderful.

My brother called me earlier this week devastated as he had just found out his cat Pumpkin was dying and would need to be put down in the next few days. My brother had the most special connection with Pumpkin. He took such good care of her and she offered so much love and affection to him. This was truly a devastating blow. A day after his initial call Pumpkin took a turn for the worst and it became clear that she would need to be put down that day. I knew just who to call — Dr. Vanessa Wensing. She was so amazing when I had to put my cat Roxie down a year ago and within a few hours she arrived at my brothers house. She was so patient and kind. She gave my brother lots of time to hold Pumpkin and did not rush the process along. Dr. Wensing is absolutely amazing. While I hope I don’t have to use her services again anytime soon, I’m so glad she does what she does. Dr. Wensing is an angel.

Today was a very difficult day. Our beloved dog of 12 years Xena was bleeding internally & was not going to improve. We didn’t want to go the vet to put her down. We wanted her to be at home where she was comfortable & with family gathered around. Heaven from Home Dr. Wensing & her assistant did a fantastic job taking us through the process. They are both very companionate. We highly recommend Heaven from Home.

Dr. Vanessa Wensing is amazing. She came recommended by a vet who’s worked with her for years. She’s not cheap, but to me it was worth it. I tried calling a couple of other services, but one lady sounded kind of cold and just off even though she was cheaper, and another one had an online form they wanted me to fill out before I could have them come (and I wasn’t in a mood to do that at the time).
Vanessa was perfect in every way: the way she talked, how she was on time, had an assistant so that we didn’t have to carry our poor dog once she passed away. She brought clay for making paw prints and a couple of keep sakes for hair. She mentioned those when we talked first, and I thought I’d never want anything like that, but then when my dog was laying there with her heart stopped, finally relaxed after months of suffering, I all of a sudden knew that I had to have those keepsakes and paw prints to remember her by, especially for my kids.
Not only that, but Vanessa sent a condolences post card with special bracelets for the children. It was a very nice touch.

Dr Wensing and Linda made one of our hardest days one of the smoothest. I contacted Dr Wensing on Sunday afternoon and she was at our house on Tuesday afternoon. Every moment of our interaction, by email or in person was thoughtful and caring while giving me the information I wanted.
Dr Wensing and Linda arrived at our house with everything they needed (including a box of tissues!). While Linda took care of the payment, Dr Wensing came to meet my 14 year old cat. She was full of interest and care for the cat despite what she was there to do.
The procedure was fully explained and only started when we said we were ready to begin. In addition, Dr Wensing paused between steps so that I could have more time with my sedated cat before she passed.
After our cat passed, Dr Wensing and Linda gave us all the space and time we needed for a final goodbye before the wrapped her up in a blanket and carefully took her away. In addition, Dr Wensing called to notify our vet (who then called with his condolences!), which was just the final touch on a very thoughtful experience.
If you’ve come to the point of researching euthanasia at home, I can’t recommend De Wensing and Linda enough. They were simply amazing.

There are wonderful people whom you wish that you never have to see in their professional capacity. Dr. Wensing is one of those. She came to my home to put my beloved dog, Shasta, to sleep after a battle with cancer. Shasta had been in my life for almost twelve years and I was devastated to be losing her, and since she was tired of both the car and going to the vet (more than a dozen visits in four months) I wanted to save her the stress of the vet’s office when she passed. Dr. Wensing and her assistant came to my home and chatted with me about Shasta for a bit, then helped her pass peacefully. Afterwards they gave me some private time to say goodbye. They provided me with a wonderful pawprint impression and cut some of her fur for me. I’m grateful for the kindness and patience that they exhibited in a time when I needed both. I highly recommend Heaven From Home.

Seems like an awkward rating statement at first, «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» For many of us, our pets are our family, our fur-​kids, our best buds, our blankets of hope when things get challenging. So when the decision comes to help our pets in their moment of need, I don’t know of a more compassionate, caring, veterinarian than Dr. Wensing. Yes, many veterinarians connect with the pet, or with humans, but few connect with both so well, and so quickly. I will admit, I was an absolute emotional wreck when the decision was made to send Sydney on his final journey. He was a fun loving, gorgeous Aussie that lived to 18 years and 1 month! We adopted him from the animal shelter and he was our only «child.» When Dr. Wensing came to our home, she immediately brought an air of calm to the chaos we were going through. More importantly, Sydney and she bonded very quickly and he calmly placed his head on her lap. Dr. Wensing talked us through the process and was very accommodating with the times we needed with our final moments with our fur-​kid. OMG! It’s hard to write this review without crying. We went through each stage of the process, but what helped us most was the kindness of Dr. Wensing, her compassion, and all around caring for everyone involved. Honestly, we looked at various in-​home services, but in the end, the others made it seem like a shopping adventure and some of the methods described really didn’t seem so pleasant for the animal or the humans. I can say, Sydney literally went to sleep without any pain, without any struggles for breath, without any fear. Eventually we will get another pet, and I am sure we will have to go through all of this again, but I have no doubt that I would call on Dr. Wensing again. One last thing, for those that are confused, and uncertain which in-​home service offered what items at extra charge; Dr. Wensing offered little keepsakes of Sydney for no extra charge (paw print in clay, fur in a heart-​shaped acrylic container). The most heartfelt gesture was the delivery of a hand written sympathy card and wrist band for the grieving parents!
If you are uncertain about what to do, do yourself and your pet a huge favor and at least call Dr. Wensing.

When we made the difficult decision to put our 20 year old cat out of his pain, we asked our vet for a recommendation for a doctor who would come to our home. We made the appointment with Dr. Wensing but shortly before she was due to arrive our sweet kitty passed away. Dr. Wensing was incredibly compassionate and caring in all our communications, including the cancellation of the appointment. She also sent us a lovely sympathy card, even though we had never met. It was a very emotional time for us, but there was such comfort in knowing she would come to our house. Thank heaven for Heaven From Home. Losing a pet can be very traumatic for a family; this compassionate service removes a painful part of the process – for both the pet and the family.

The unconditional love, companionship and bond that is formed when a pet becomes a part of a family is most profound, one of which can be a long, happy and rewarding relationship.
Kero, our 15 year old teacup chihuahua had been getting frail; unable to see due to cataracts, loss of hearing, pain and difficulties with walking or standing increased and gradually loss of appetite. Our love and compassion for her so great, we had to make a difficult decision, for her comfort.
My dogs have a deep dislike for veterinary clinics, they show their anxiety and begin to shake. Not wanting Kero to experience any anxiety or stress, we researched veterinary doctors who make house calls. Of the handful I spoke with, I was instantly drawn to Dr. Vanessa. I felt she had a deep sense of love and compassion for animals and their families and would be the right fit to help our family through the process.
An appointment was set for the next day. Dr. Vanessa came with her assistant who was also very warm and compassionate.
Dr. Vanessa sat with my son, spoke quietly with him and listened to his stories of Kero’s life. The environment was her home, background classical music and the smells she knew as her home. The process was explained and on our time when we felt ready, we said our goodbye’s to our little 2 pound, sweet, cuddly, trooper, and lastly, loving, loyal companion of 15 years.
Other small but significant touches, little paw prints are provided and she made a call to the clinic we use for cremation to expect our arrival and provided them with any information they needed. (While I opted to use a cremation service near my home, Dr. Vanessa does offer services to take care of transporting your pet and taking care of these additional services).
We thank you, Dr. Vanessa for easing a painful experience and transitioning it into one that we found solace; knowing Kero is at peace.

Dr Vanessa Wensing was so wonderful. We called her to put our 17 year old cat down. I’m so glad my friend suggested calling Dr. Wensing. She was excellent on the phone and in person. She had everything needed to take care of our kitty and us. I HIGHLY recommend calling her for a house visit when the time comes.

In November we made the difficult decision to say farewell to our beloved Gumbo after almost 18 years. Dr. Wensing and her assistant, Linda, made the process pain and anxiety free for our special girl. I cannot imagine a suggestion for improvement, they covered all the details and were so sensitive and caring that it made a very painful decision easier knowing Gumbo was in good hands. If given the choice of taking such an act in our home versus a veterinary office in the future I would highly recommend this service to others.

Losing a pet is an emotional event in a family’s life. Dr. Wensing was kind, thoughtful and caring. She made the end of our beagle’s life peaceful. She was patient and informative with us. She gave us time and space to say goodbye. I would highly recommend her services to anyone having to deal with end of life issues for a treasured family member.

Dr. Wensign and her nurse were patient, compassionate, and caring. Dr Wensing responded to my messages right away and was more than willing to provide me with answers to all of my questions. The procedure was extremely peaceful for both my Golden Retriever and my family.

Though letting our sweet Bella pass on was the hardest thing my husband and I have ever had to do, Dr. Wensing was an angel who guided us through the process with grace and care. She made the transition as easy and peaceful as possible and for that we will always be grateful. Rest in Peace sweet Bella and thank you Vanessa.

My daughter & I decided that our sweet Big Bella had enough suffering and at 14 years old I could not ask more of her, it was time to say farewell. Dr Wensing & her assistant are professional and compassionate. We could not have made it without Dr Wensings support and guidance. If I could give Heaven From Home 100 stars I would. I knew we had made the right decision for our Bella. Bella’s sisters Saige & Taffy were present to support her and say good bye.

Dr Vanessa Wensing was recommended to me via Bishop Ranch Vet, my dogs’ regular vets. My 13 year old Chow had cancer, and about 6 – 8 weeks after his surgery to remove a tumor, he took a rapid turn for the worse over the course of 2 days. Dr. Wensing and her nurse were so responsive and supportive, asking questions and providing both technical & emotional help. Her explanation of what to expect and really just listening to my concerns was such a huge relief. I had no doubt it was time to let go, but I felt a lot of fear and anguish; Having such a compassionate vet, along with her nurse, was exactly what our beloved dog and family needed in the final moments. I cannot thank her enough.

When a second opinion confirmed that our sheltie’s liver disease had progressed to the point that the most loving thing we could do for our beloved Reggie was to end his suffering, we called on Dr. Wensing and Heaven from Home. It was the best call we could have made.
Dr. Wensing combines great medical/​technical skills with a level of sensitivity and compassion that is rare among health professionals. That combination makes her the ideal professional to help distraught pet owners make this process as smooth, respectful, peaceful and spiritual as possible.
The last dog we had to go through this process with was assisted by his vet in her office in Los Angeles. That worked well only because this particular vet had the same combination of skills and compassion as Dr. Wensing as well as a supportive staff. While the quality of the professional you put your trust in is priority #1, the home environment does provide a more intimate and peaceful setting.
Dr. Wensing’s assistant Linda was also professional and sensitive in every way. There is nothing that can take away the deep sense of loss that comes with the loss of a loved one, but Heaven from Home performs their services in the caring way that your pet deserves.
