Rick’s Heating & Air Conditioning

Rick was sent by our home appliance warranty company. Not friendly. Our heater required a quick and easy fix and he got the job done.

Had to attempt to do business with rick through home warranty company, same issues for me as with most reviews on here. Would not attempt to meet anytime after 3pm and was very hard to get ahold of, even blaming me for his lack of ability to return phone calls.

Used this service as part of my home warranty and Rick is the real deal. He is very punctual and knows his trade inside out. Would recommend him for service and repair work.

Rick’s came to service my tenant’s heater on the request of the warranty service. The first technician said not to use the heater due to CO hazard and left. I left two messages but they never returned my call. I called the warranty company but they didn’t hear anything from him either. A different tech came a week later and fixed it, but did not explain what was fixed. A week with no heat in December, plus no returned calls plus no explanation. I suggest not using this service.

This company was supposed to do some warranty work through my home warranty. He called asking if he can come on Thanksgiving day. Umm no! Then he said he would call back. After leaving him several messages I gave up and found someone else.

Rick arrived at our home to fix our AC on time. He knew exactly what was wrong, had the parts he needed for the repair, and our AC was up in running in less than ½ hour.

I had a similar problem with this guy. He really should not be in any type of business if he can’t handle the workload. Appears he has no patience or a sense of what customer service is all about. Be warned to run far away fun this guy!

Risk doesnt have any personality for one — but that doesnt mean he can or cant fix anything.
so, he shows up to our house under a home warranty call (seems to be a trend here for his bad Unilocal reviews). i tell him the ac runs and the house just gets hotter. i also mentioned that my fiancé had gone into the attic and noticed holes in the ducts.
so Rick goes outside to the condenser and a few moments comes back in and says «it should be colder now. i added freon.»
My reply: ok, so what was wrong, was there a freon leak somewhere? also, what about the holes in the ducts in the attic??? colder air to cool off the attic doesnt really accomplish anything…
so after a deep sigh and rolling his eyes, he got his butt up in the attic. came down and said he patched a hole.
after reporting this to my fiancé, since he was at work, he said «a hole or holes?» well Rick said «a hole»
so looks like my fiancé will have to double check Rick’s «work»
this guy will never be allowed back in our house again.

He was called by my home warranty company and he did not come during his 3 hour window. I called him and he said he was 20 minutes away which is pretty much how long it would take for him to get here from Pleasanton (his home). I’m sure he fOrget about my appointment. When he arrived he basically made a mess fro my heater and didn’t clean it up. He also nearly electrocuted both of us in trying to show me something he thought was a dud but actually had electricity running through it!

Rick sounds hard but very nice and qualified person.
He narrow down our AC issue pretty fast and fix it. Best part is, our blower unit is in attic and it’s not easy to access. He managed very well with 95+ degree. Hats off!!!
For sure will recommend to my friends…

This guy was very rude and uncooperative when trying to schedule an appointment through my home warranty. Thank god I had him send the service request back so I could schedule with a different contractor. Felt much better about that decision after reading all the Unilocal reviews.

I’ve had several opportunities to work with Rick’s Heating and Air through my warranty company (AHS). I’ve always found him knowledgeable, professional and prompt. He’s working with our warranty company now to get approval for a leaky valve repair on our A/​C unit and I anticipate that just like my prior dealings with him, I won’t be disappointed.

Rick recently helps us out when our A/​C unit failed to work. He came out, did a thorough job troubleshooting and very quickly found the problem.
Being an engineer myself I noticed how good he is at what he does.
He replaced the motor and also gave my system a tune up. It now blows some very cold air into the house! Awesome job!

I have to say in reading the reviews people either love or hate him. I was VERY wary this morning after reading the reviews. Since some of his issues seemed to be customer service I decided to kill him with kindness to set the tone.
He showed up the 1^st hour of my 4 hr window. That’s saying a lot since I had to get back to work and I always seem to be the tail end of every appointment window.
He was friendly, checked the furnace, breaker and fans. Turns out it was a loose wire on the AC and a flipped breaker. He gave me some background and advised me to try flipping the breaker if it happens again but also warned that if it continues to be a problem to call back again.
That seemed reasonable to me.
Time will tell if the problem is fixed but it seemed only fair to review him on today’s appointment.

Like many reviewers before, we were referred to Rick via our home warranty when our heater broke.
Rick didn’t answer the call the first time, but he called back within a couple of hours. We then scheduled for next morning service. He called 20 minutes before he arrived. Once he showed up, he was able to diagnose the problem within a few minutes. He then replaced a circuit board, and our heater worked perfectly about 15 minutes after he arrived.
What more can you ask from this guy? :)

Absolutely worthless!!! He was sent to us by American Home Shield, also worthless by the way. Rick came over, measured the amperage on our air conditioner and said everything was fine. He then went on a rant about how the PG&E Smart Meters were terrible and the reason for my doubled electricity bill in a month. I had 2 other AC guys look at my air conditioner and they both, independently, determined it was highly inefficient and needed many repairs, but better yet needed to be replaced. Rick was very quick to take his check and leave, having done nothing. If your home warranty send him, refuse his service and ask for someone else. And forget about trying to get your service fee back from the home warranty company. They told me since he is a licensed AC guy in my state, that means he is qualified. What a joke!

When I kept jacking up the air conditioning but the temperature in the house kept rising, I knew I had a problem. Not wanting to roast in what’s about to be a scorcher tomorrow, I was lucky to get Rick of Rick’s Heating & Air Conditioning to come out this morning.
He diagnosed the issue (burned out starter) in no time, replaced it and had the air conditioner up and running within the hour. He also took the time to help me program my thermostat, give me tips about conserving energy and also explain the details of what he did. And all that for an excellent price.
I saw a couple of not so stellar reviews for Rick and can say that I definitely did not share those Unilocalers experiences. I literally described the issue to Rick, he went outside, tinkered with the air conditioner and then diagnosed/​fixed my problem. I couldn’t be happier, he is Woohoo! As good as it gets!

I agree with majority of other reviews. This guy is as useful as sticking your hand in a toaster to check whether it works. Did absolutely nothing, and claimed that the heating system should be replaced. Had no tools to make any measurements.
AHS sent this guy over. What a waste of time and money.

We found this guy through our Home Warranty provider.
You know that you are in trouble when your service professional tells you that he has very limited experience with your style of central heat.
He addressed our problems with a simple «Nothing wrong here» and «this works fine». It didn’t and it still doesn’t.
My wife asked if he would like her to demonstrate the problem.
His response was no. Didn’t care and didn’t want to know.
He collected his check and was gone a full ten minutes after he arrived.
Couple that with his total condescending attitude toward my wife and Mark S. put it very well, «What A Jerk !».
This guy will do just fine with the basic, simple problems that a freshman technician would encounter but if your problem is a critical problem that requires a true professional, this IS NOT the guy you want.
Save your money and find someone competent.
