2121 SE Belmont Apartments

Can’t beat the location, friendly management, and great customer service. We moved from DC sight unseen about a year ago and have no complaints: Eric, Josh, and Michael work hard to keep the place looking great and they’re always willing to jump in to help out.

I’ve been servicing this building for years and the management staff has been incredible. The communicate well and care about their property, tenants and vendors. Thanks Eric and Michael!

Spent two years in this building, and can’t say enough great things about it. The staff really goes above and beyond — the office staff if friendly and cultivates a real community, and the maintenance is incredibly fast and always high quality. It’s a high end building, with great floor plans and incredible construction quality — I never once heard my neighbors! And of course the location could not be better for enjoying Portland. Highly recommend this community.

Living here is great. We’ve been here for two years.
To anyone looking to rent though… they raise your rent A LOT every year. I get that its «market rates» but they really don’t care about keeping good, loyal tenants who have never caused a problem and pay via direct deposit every month. They don’t negotiate at all and penalize you by $ 250/​month if you go month to month. We love, love, love living here but it will probably be our last year lease — its terrible to say this but I hope the tenants who replace us really suck.

I signed a short-​term lease as I was new to Portland and wanted to learn the neighborhoods before committing to anything longer.
The quality of materials inside is great. If you have any issues, the manager is quick to resolve it no questions asked. This is, very easily, the best management I’ve experienced during my years of apartment living.
While the rent was high, the value of the location, amenities and condition of the building justify it. It’s rare to find such caring and helpful staff AND run such a good complex.
Note that the building can be a little loud. I was close to a stairwell and the constant slamming got to be too much. There are a lot of dogs, so expect the barking that accompanies dogs.
The location is good in most ways, yet there isn’t much within a block from your door. I’m used to having a coffee house and deli closer, so this was strange to be in such an urban neighborhood, yet distant from a lot of the daily luxuries. Like, if you need a roll of toilet paper or out of olive oil, you can’t just buzz next door. If that’s not a big deal to you, then you’ll be fine.

We had a checklist of what we wanted in an apartment. We found it all at 2121 Belmont: contemporary design, quiet, quality construction, open floor plan, hardwood floors, energy efficient, central air and heat, elevators, underground garage with assigned parking, security, in unit washer/​dryer, gym, friendly and responsive onsite management and maintenance staff. Considering what you get, it is fairly priced.

We lived at 2121 Belmont for two years. While we loved the apartment and fully intended to renew our lease (indefinitely!), we were extremely disappointed to find that our rent was being increased by an unheard of 13%, or $ 300, which we viewed as essentially an eviction notice. We were not alone. Several of the friends that we came to know in the building were also shocked to discover that their rent was being increased by unheard of percentages. While the people in the office are very nice and clearly understood that it was an unreasonable increase, it is clear that the Texas-​based company that now owns the building cares nothing about building long-​lasting customer relationships. After scrambling about for a few weeks looking at options, we realized that the value at 2121 just isn’t there. We ended up finding a three bedroom house with a front and back yard and front and back porch, a giant basement, on the same bus line, etc. just a few blocks away (actually closer to all of the good bars and restaurants), and only a few steps away from Laurelhurst Park for $ 700 less than what 2121 wanted us to pay. So we moved, and we’re glad that we did. Our recommendation? If you’re coming from out of town and just want to rent a cool apartment in a great location for a year so that you can meet some people and just get settled into Portland, then 2121 is a great option. But don’t get too attached: if you’re like us and several of our friends, you’ll likely be in for a surprise when your lease is up. If, on the other hand, you’re moving from within Portland, don’t bother. You can find much better value in the same area for much less money.

So far its been great. I cant wait for the summer around here. Moved from a house to an apartment with a city view. Not to mention this apartment is bigger then my house was! crazy! Its been a little adjusting to not having a garage or driveway of my own but the ability to walk out my front door to countless bars and restaurants has been just what i needed. Thanks property management girls for talking me into it =) Its been a great move! 5 minutes to work isnt bad either.

This a great location… easy jaunt across the river into the downtown business and shopping district, easy walk up Belmont to some very cool restaurants and bars, and close enough to the freeways to make longer journeys convenient.
My apartment is an upscale flat with high-​end appliances and all the right touches to make this place feel cozy enough and urban at the same time. One of the best things the builder did was use concrete. I hardly ever hear my neighbors.
This is place is pet friendly. I don’t mean pet tolerant; I mean friendly. They have doggie bags outside. They have a leash tie-​up at the front door. Nearly everyone in the building has a pet. It’s kiddy cornder from a park. Oh, and the neighborhood is pet friendly too, with water bowls available for your pooch when you go sit outside a restaurant in and around Belmont.
I don’t know why I ever lived anywhere else.

This is a gorgeous, very modern building with great fixtures and a lot of attention to detail. There’s cement walls which act as a sound buffer and it seemed it would be a fairly quiet place to live. The property management staff I talked to were all friendly and personable and helped me locate places within my price range. There’s also parking in the garage (for an extra fee). I was very close to getting a place here, but what held me back was the requirement of a 6 month lease. I just wasn’t ready for that commitment.
Pros: modern building & top of the line fixtures, lovely design inside, hardwood floors, fitness center (albeit it was in an adjacent retail space), and friendly people.
Cons: lease requirement, a bit spendy (minimum of $ 1,200), the design was such that the bedroom walls didn’t go all the way up to the ceiling, which was trendy but also would allow sound to carry a little better if you had guests staying in the living room, and finally the view on the places I looked at (on the Morrison side) looked out to a cemetery, which seems a tad morbid.
