Vegan Sliders with tomato basil sauce. Best ever. I ordered three and was full after the second one. Tastes soooo good.

Decent food but not great. Nothing to write home about. Pricing did not reflect quality or portion size, so I don’t plan to return. Also, a single beer on tap.

I stumbled upon this place when i was in the neighborhood and saw they had veggie balls. Decided it was worth a try so we tried a veggie ball sandwich and a polenta dish. You can choose different entrees and different sauces. There is a little something different for everybody and the portions were not only generous but priced well too!

I wanna give a shout out to the really, really nice fellas at this restaurant! I couldn’t have asked for a more warm welcome and cozy feel as I ate my perfect, filling, and delicious polenta+spicy pork balls+spicy pork sauce. DANKASHECK when you need that fix in your life. The classic spaghetti is everything your heart desires when you crave a good old bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. I’ll be back when the cravings kick in, 24th and Meatballs. You just wait! I also want to mention that the shirt with spaghetti letters is the best shirt I’ve laid eyes on in a while. It is life. It is good.

Yummy food, pretty consistent. Every once in a while it’s a bit too salty. Nice simple menu. Good strong drinks. Usually pretty fast. Overall good staff ranging from Patrick, the funniest most charming guy, to that one grumpy dude who seemingly hates his job/life? Why is he still working here? Any who, generally filled with colorful characters who you can have random conversations with. The kale salad is prime, as well as anything topped with tomato basil AND cheese sauce!

I always get the chicken ball panini with arugula pesto and it has never let me down. Just a nice, solid sandwich. I can’t think of another meatball in town that I have liked better. Really nice staff, too – very friendly!

Not really a fan, I tried the meatball sampler and had 4 different kinds. They were covered in salty marinara sauce like prego. I’m not sure I would try anything else, my husband usually eats everything but we actually didn’t finish our meal. When it’s a specialty shop, I expected the meatballs to be out of this world. There’s not much more to say.

Wasn’t sure what I was craving and was recommended a pork meatball panini. At first bite I just wanted to cry because It was so delightful. It’s simple ingredients in a cozy atmosphere. The price is worth it and the service was warm and welcoming. If you’re craving Italian food but don’t want to pay the price or dress for a fancy restaurant, I think this is the place to go.

I cannot begin to describe how good the vegan meatball panini with arugula pesto is. It is one of my favorite meals in all of Portland. Grab one of those puppies and a Whiskey Old Fashion and you’re set for a night full of flavor.

If a restaurant specializes in one particular food, it is reasonable to expect that food to be downright delicious and memorable. Unfortunately for 24th and Meatballs — that is just not the case. I ordered the pork BALLSBALLSBALLS with the spicy pork sauce. I would not recommend this to anybody. The sauce was overly salty and the meatballs were lacking in any redeemable quality whatsoever. Sadly, they were dry and just didn’t taste very good. On the plus side, the service is friendly and the restaurant is located in a cute setting with plenty of outdoor seating. Perhaps a few of their other dishes are better, but serving unremarkable meatballs in a self-proclaimed meatball restaurant is not a forgivable mistake.

It’s not just me, THEY thought so too. So when I stopped by last weekend, it was just me and 2 other patrons. I had a single meatball slider(pork piccante + marinara). I was listening to my own tunes(had ear buds on) but all I could hear were the other 2 guys commenting on how salty the meatballs were. I was busy doing my «Foodie take a photo first» thing so it was a couple of minutes before I had a taste. Indeed, the slider was quite salty, and small mind you. The mini buns were cold and chewy on top. The bottom was made soggy by meatball juice + marinara sauce. Two bites later, and the experience was all over. Perhaps I’m just not a meatball kind of guy, but there’s just way better stuff at the other places on this block. But I must say, the shed that is their restaurant is quite clean and cozy. It was warm and clear skies and the windows were open, which was nice. The guys behind they counter were friendly. I’m no bean pole but it might be a tight squeeze in there for larger folks.

$ 4 Cheesy Polenta in big gravy boat is my favorite. Meatballs were good, not great. Creative cocktail menu, cool staff, and so-so parking.

meatball sandwiches/subs would not usually be my first choice on a menu… but seeing as how the hubs raved about this place and all they offered was, well, meatballs, I had to at least give it a chance. so much flavor in yum in the first bite — made me a believer. we tried the traditional red sauce and also the arugula pesto. that pesto, omg. incredible. the seasonal veggie was broccolini, and one of the few veggies my toddler actually enjoys. it was roasted perfectly with a slight crispiness and good amount of flavor without being dried out or vegetable-y, because let’s be honest, who orders a meatball sandwich and even wants to be reminded about vegetables.

tasty meatballs. a bit surprised there is a meatball shop but, whatev! they have meatballs of various meats like chicken, beef, pork etc few sauces to pick from including creamy cheese and classic tomato. meatballs are actually pretty good. are they worth the price? i have no idea. i have almost no experience with meatballs in general. for happy hour you get 2 meatball sliders and a draft beer or soda, not bad!

For a place that focus on just meatballs, I expected much better. I had the BALLS, BALLS, BALLS($ 7) that’s 3 meatballs of your choice in sauce with focaccia bread. There are 3 meat options so I had one of each and listed in order of favorite to least favorite: chicken, pork, and classic Italian. The meatballs were all on the dry side and very salty. The spicy pork sauce I chose had a nice kick but it just added to the saltiness of the dish. Last complaint is about the focaccia bread that was drenched in oil.

I had the Hero with Italian meatballs and the marinara sauce and thought it was okay. The bread got very dry when they heated the sandwich and every time I’d bite into it, bread crumbs would go everywhere. I then tried one of the pork meatballs with the pork sauce and liked it a lot more than the Italian style. So, I’d recommend going with that option on a Hero(or any other meatball item). Great friendly staff that was very helpful to a first timer.

Very few places in the scope of my experience truly rate five stars, but 24th& Meatballs is a hands-down, flat-out winner. I’ve had what is generally considered the best meatball sandwich in the country(Moochie’s in Salt Lake City), and while they certainly rate right up there, 24th& Meatballs serves the best and biggest meatballs I’ve ever had; and I’m old, so I’ve had a lot. And they do it without any Portlandia attitude. The Hero featured(by my choice) 3 classic Italian meatballs tucked neatly into a crunchy cornmeal french roll, topped with their classic Italian sauce, topped with a generous portion of melted cheese. Unspeakably delicious! My wife had the panini meatball sandwich, and we talked about that food for the rest of the day. The atmosphere is ‘permanent food cart’ decorated with boxing posters, and it’s pretty small, but clean. The service is friendly — what I remember Portland USED to be before someone turned it into Portlandia. Parking is a challenge — it’s street parking, where it can be found. Don’t be turned off by the voice in the commercials — this is THE place to go for meatballs in Portland.
