Brought my truck in to have these fine folks take a look at it. Was experiencing vibrations above 75mph after changing to a new kind of tire. Didn’t think it was a wheel /​tire thing given my symptoms, and neither did they, but I wanted a professional opinion and to fully rule out the wheels and tires before I started tearing my whole truck apart.
They gave me an incredibly thorough rundown on my truck, including diagnosing loose lower ball joints that other shops have missed (because they never check, even though I ask). They visually inspected my driveline and rebalanced my tires, finding that the other two shops I’ve had balance the tires still hasn’t gotten them totally right. They also checked my tires for cupping.
These are my wheels and tires people now. Period. They were professional, thorough and treated my truck like it was theirs. I’ll be back for the ball joint service and wouldn’t bother to take my truck anyplace else for wheels and tires.

Update: new car and needed new tires, I called and ordered the tires that I wanted and they had them available the same day. Went in this morning and had them installed, fastest and least hassle install ever. They even bagged up my old/​almost new tires for transport.
So it went really well for me, buying new tires, and not so well for my wife. Whatever that tells you.

I like it here! I bought 2 tires from here approx 18 months ago when the tread was pretty low. Also got an alignment since I hadn’t had one of those in forever.
I came back today to get a flat repaired and a pair of new tires. I feel like I was given a good price with an an honest explanation of what did and didn’t need to be done to the car, ie. You don’t need an alignment (something the last tire place I went to told me I needed to do bc of the way my rear tires were worn. Turns out my car can’t even align the rear tires!!!).
Any who, I’m glad I came here instead of one of the chain tire places which, in my experience, have always wanted me to buy 4 new tires and an alignment with them –_-.

My lawyer will be in touch with Garth in the near future to discuss the matter of him stealing my old van and replacing it with another identical one, dog hair and all. I miss my steering wheel being displaced 45 degrees, deathly creaking around tight corners, tires balding on the inside, and fighting with it to stay on its desired trajectory. It’s absolute torture to relax on the road.
Seriously, Garth was awesome. He fixed an issue that ruined two sets of tires and went undiagnosed by TWO other professional yahoos. I was happy to throw the money I lost at him for his friendly, non-​condescending, collaborative work on my beloved van to avoid getting another bad service provider.
Go to this guy and ignore the one lousy review. He’ll treat you right. Plus he’s got cool diagnostic equipment.

Garth found the tires I wanted locally and installed them in a half hour while I used the store wifi to get some work done. He checked the pads and rotors, too. I even got a little history lesson on Saab rallying. This is a genuinely good and honest business run by knowledgeable and friendly people.

The only place I will go for tires from now on. I have had tires swapped twice here. First time, I bought online which was a mistake as I could have got them for less here. Second time around I went right to the experts. I called Garth multiple times before actually getting my tires replaced. He was happy to take the time to quote me prices, give me times when he could get the tires in (which was next day) and gave his honest recommendation for the best out of the three sets I was considering. There was no up-​selling or nonsense, just knowledgeable, friendly and professional service. Tires were replaced quicker than estimated and I love them. Huge upgrade. I had a minor concern which was addressed with no questions asked. If you get your tires from someplace that prides itself on having it’s employees run around like clowns. do you yourself a favor and leave it to the actual professionals here. You will be glad you did.

Just went back a month ago to have my winter/​summer tires switched, super friendly and fast as always.

This place is great. Competitive prices, quick and super nice. An added bonus are the crazy cool cars that are always there getting worked on. If the owners of those cars trust these guys, the rest of us certainly can.

Got new tires and cable chains here — they are fabulous!!! Super fast, nice and friendly. Great conversation while waiting for them to check our tire that was losing air — silly tire got a screw lodged in it — They took care of us, cannot recommend people more! Great photos in the lobby too! Just doesn’t get any better than this place.

These guys rock. They were super friendly and super fast at fixing my car’s busted wheel.

There was this guy named Goodyear and in 1844 he patented the rubber vulcanizing process. Nothing much came of it in the way of using it for transportation purposes until 1887 when a veterinarian named Dunlop who tied some rubber to his sons bicycle tire to lessen the jarring ride on rough roads which were giving him headaches. By 1888 this Dunlop guy was producing bicycle tires for headache-​addled people, I guess. In 1891 the Michelin brothers figured out how to make a removable tire and they got sort of popular for that. Sometime after that A-​n-​T Tire came along, to Portlanders and Vancouverites alike this is every bit of significant as the above-​mentioned accomplishments.
Seriously, in this, the day of the tire shop where clean-​shaven lithe bodied young men come running out to your car to greet you (how intimidating is that?!?) or some poor shlub in a rubber tire suit stands out on the street corner in 90 degree weather trying to wave you into his parking lot it’s nice to know that you can still find a small, competitively priced friendly place where you can get tires without attitude or schtick.
Fred and Garth Ankeny know how to take care of your car, work within your budget, suggest the right brand and model of tire and get your car or truck on the road again fast. On weekends you can find them at Portland Int’l Raceway doing the same thing for racecars out of their mobile tire shop. Another side benefit, there is no end of interesting vehicles there to oogle at, be it a road racecar, a rally car or anything else. They knew a thing or two about Saabs as well.
It doesn’t matter where in the Portland Metro Area you are; it’s worth heading to north Portland. Bye Les, bye Americas Scam Artists, bye Good/​stone Independent dealers. How do you spell a good deal? A-​n-​T.

I made an appointment a couple days ago to have new tires installed. I’d gotten a quote of $ 150 from a competitor, and these guys were cheaper, and a local business. Friendly enough, pretty low rent waiting room. I got there early, and they got me out of there early.
I also got a bid for some tires for my wife’s car, and I’m sure we’ll be going back.
Good guys, good service, good deal.

These guys are great. Fair, fast, and friendly.
They are also always there to answer quick questions and tolend a helping hand. Before I will go anywhere else for anything on my ride, I will always check with these guys first to see: (a) if they want to do it; or, (b) to tell me who they think should do it (they have been great about both).
Don’t go elsewhere without checking in with these guys first.

Read the reviews on Unilocal about A-​N-​T and called about tires for the wifes truck. They quoted me a competitive price, ordered the tires, called back the next day to say they were in, made an appointment, arrived 30 minutes early, right in and done and out in an hour.
Friendly, courteous, easy to miss if you aren’t looking closely.

This is a really good place. Friendly people and great service. Ordered tires from Tire Rack and ANT mounted, balanced and checked the toe in on my landcruiser.
Good people and I highly recommend them. No bs’ing around.

Oh Em Gee!!! I go through tires extremely fast on my ’03 SAAB 9−5…so I know a thing or two about the local tire companies. When I blew out my 3^rd Pirelli I started the usually «shop around» and found A n T on Unilocal.Saw that these guys had good reviews and decided to give them a call. Best decision I ever made!!! Heard back from them right away with the lowest price on a set of Falkens. They fit me in the same day, got the tires mounted and balanced with in 15−20mins (as quoted!) where the «other guys» told me it would take over an hour, and were super friendly and professional, and not once talked down to me like I was another stupid girl who doesn’t know jack about cars. I will be coming back here again and again! They also work on older SAABies… but pre-​GM models.

5 of the other-​guys (Tires4less, Les Schwab, America’s Tires, Costco and Sears) all gave me bs info and treated me like a «another stupid girl» — Boy, were they wrong… I know enough NOT to go to them ever again and to go straight to A-​n-​T when I need tires!!!

Fantastic service, and Garth and Fred REALLY know tires well, and supply a lot of local racers. They’ve found great, long-​lasting tires for my old truck, plus managed to find tires for my 1988 Lotus Esprit (next to impossible). Reasonable rates, and they work FAST and always have stuff done on time.

These guys are great. They service a lot of the PIR race crew. Have done the Baja 1000 a couple of times. Are tiny shop that is all about customer service. They do tires and alignments as well as work on vintage Saabs. I was told to go to them after some average experiences as other tire shops and now I drive across town to have them do my tires and alignment. Also, they are a Tirerack approved vendor so you can order and have them shipped there for mounting.
