BEWARE! Before setting an appoitment I ensured this office was part of our insurance preferred provider organization to receive the highest possible insurance coverage. When at my appointment I asked about my cost after insurance paid and was told their fee would be based on the quantity of potential food allergies I was tested for. I clearly communicated we had a restricted budget and could not afford a large co-​pay insurance bill so I had to know what my out of pocket expense would be. I asked three times before my testing began, to ensure they clearly understood my question and our financial circumstances, how much my copay will be. All I was told was a repetitive statement that «their fee would be based on the quantity of potential food allergies I was tested for.» Since they already knew the quantity of food allergy tests I was to have taken, I asked what that copay amount was and I was again told she did not know. I said surely they must know their billing structure, and again I was told no and she did not know. I then changed my wording and asked for an «approximate» amount I could expect for a copay based on the quantity of food allergy testings they were scheduled to perform. She was then quick to respond «based on this amount of tests I can assure you your copay will be under $ 50.» Once I changed my wording to «approximate» she was suddenly «assured» of the billing structure she previously repeated that she did not know! I should have walked out right then, but I waited a long time for much needed medical care. I repeated this back to the worker to ensure I properly understood and she said yes, and then repeated the same answer again. However, after the insurance paid, I received their bill stating I owed over $ 500! I called to ask about the discrepancy and no one could give my an explanation. So I set an appointment with the business office manager, whom would only apologize, stating no one in the office who spoke to me had the authority to state the copay would be less than $ 50. I explained to the the account manager that I asked and was given the same response 3 times, before the services were provided, saying that the copay would be less than $ 50. The account manager then told me I had to pay the full amount or be turned into a collection company. I said I did not have that amount, but I would pay it right then if I was able. I asked if there was any way they could work with me to negotiate and be flexible on the balance due since I was misquoted by their office and since my insurance had already paid, but she refused. She then said they were willing to break it up into three payments, but if I missed one payment they would proceed with turning the account over for collections. Every other medical practice appointment I have been to previously have always been able to provide a fairly accurate copay amount based on the insurance card I provide to them. I feel this office is dishonest and operating based on unethical financial principals. I encourage anyone on a restricted budget to be wary of receiving medical services there.

I joined Unilocal just to write a review of this practice, which is appalling. I needed a second opinion and was referred to Dr. Kazimeroski by a relative who had seen him years ago. The man is condescending, arrogant and money grubbing. I was prescribed UVB light therapy which did absolutely nothing, other than cost about $ 1500. Huge waste of time and my problem has only gotten worse. I am now seeing a proper doctor who is not a little troll looking to line his pockets before retirement.

This place is awful.
First of all, the nurse told me everything I needed to know before the doctor
(the one who looks like a troll) came in and told me the exact same things, with less empathy.
And he insulted me upon entering the exam room. I don’t know why I didn’t walk out right at that moment.
Do not make an appointment here. Ever.

We came here to have my baby tested for food allergies. I had requested a blood test as you can text for multiple things & it’s covered by my insurance. The doctor refused to do this for us with no explination. She was condescending & did not involve me in any way in the process of treatment. I felt like a bystander in my daughter’s health care. She administered the skin test for only one thing even though I specifically asked for several others & told me I could come back later for another full appointment where we could test for everything (she wouldn’t tell me why we couldn’t do this today).
All in all, this was a very frustrating experience. We left AADAPC without learning anything new and now we will be getting a bill for a service that I did not want. We were talked down to and shown an incredible lack of respect and consideration. I hope ours was a unique experience with Dr. Anderson-​Cowell and that she does not treat every patient in this manner.

I dread dread calling this office/​going into this office for any purpose (making an appointment, getting records). My husband has terrible environmental and food allergies. So he has seen an allergist since childhood. Apparently Allergy, Asthma, & Dermatology Associates located on NW 16^th has been his clinic since he was very young.
Perhaps it was good at one time but we have had nothing but poor experiences here. And we won’t be going back. I’m done. Here’s why:
1)Every time we go into the office or call we are met with very unhappy, less-​than-​helpful staff. Maybe its just our luck but no one seems happy to be there.
2) Dr. Kristen Price is odd. Neither my husband or I can talk with her about options/​ideas. She gets agitated whenever someone speaks. Again, very odd.
3) My husband was asked to do a ‘breath test’. I can’t remember the actual term but its basically to see how much air you can blow out for asthma testing. Well this little ‘breath test’ cost us a lot of money. We are not cheap and we have medical insurance but the cost of this ‘test’ was above and beyond. The staff should tell patients that 1) its optional and 2) it isn’t covered by insurance 3) it costs a ton, so FYI.
Furthermore, we haven’t gotten any ‘help’ with preventative medicine for my husband’s allergies. Just take another allergy pill seems to be the answer for everything here. Again, we’re done.

The Doctor: Anderson-​Cowell
Just looked at all the reviews here and I’m shocked that I’ve had a similar experience. Every time I came in I had to wait at least 1 hour to have the privilege of sitting next to an exam room because they never had any actual space. Each time I was there, they would constantly pressure me to take on expensive treatments or take on a ton of prescriptions that didn’t really work.
They administered an allergy test on me all the while saying that it was covered by my insurance. I trusted them because hey, they’re the professionals here. A couple of months later, my bill is $ 402+. Don’t ever come to this office. They are everything that is wrong with healthcare in US and it’s just a money grab at this point.
They don’t care about really helping you get better but just want to make money off of you while you can.

I actually like this dermatologist. The first time I went I did have to wait a little bit, but not too long. Dr Kazmierowski saw me, have me a few options and we talked about it and chose the best one. So far it was a good decision. One of the secretaries is very sweet, the younger one not so much a people person.

I have just tried to schedule an appt for my eldery mother with Dr. Kazierowski since it can only be done on line and she has no computer (and would not have been able to navigate their system if she did its so convoluted). After I scheduled, I was called to say they would not keep the date since all her insurance info wasn’t there. I called my Mom who read what they needed to me. Typical insurance card info… When I called the schedulers back after reading it all to the woman, she put me on hold and said that because I didn’t have the insurance card, they wouldn’t hold the appt. I had the info and was scheduling for my Mom, but I wasn’t actually in possession of the card? What, really? I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the nazi female guard scheduler came back on to say they were cancelling the appt since I didn’t physically have the card. I am now calling my mom’s doc who referred to let them know that his Dermatologist reference Dr. Kazmierowski is not anyone I want a fragile 84 year old seeing after experiencing his back room. I hope that he was a rich source of referral for these people and that a lot of his income that he uses to hire these horrible people will dry up. Yes, you’re right-I’m pretty angry. Note that this appt was only for 15 minutes since that is the maximum length of an appt available. Wow wish there was a minus star rating for this one.

I started attending AA&D downtown for very bad ‘something’ a year ago. I got some help, finally, with my symptoms, and the nasal sprays are STILL the best help I’ve had. That said, I HATE their reliance on ZocDoc to schedule appointments. Every time I’ve used it, it has booked me with the wrong medical staff. The system thinks I’m a dermatology patient when I’m an allergy patient. Just today I wasted my time and copay to get to an appointment, only to learn that the person I was scheduled to see only sees dermatology patients. Very frustrating. I’m considering switching providers just because it’s so frustrating to use this tool, and so hard to get appointments booked.

I’ve been in twice. The first time they tried to swap me to an inhaler my insurance didn’t cover. When the pharmacy tried to contact them, they did nothing to contact my company to try and get it fixed.
Both times I went in, I waited in the waiting room for 20 minutes and then in the exam room for another 15 – 30. I saw Dr. Price for a grand total of 5 – 10 minutes each time.
I wanted to get back on my allergy shots as quickly as possible since I’d just changed insurance companies and my old one still had my bottles. But Dr. Price just threw a whole bunch of words at me before she left the office and didn’t even discuss my options.
In the end I found a new allergist. Their office is too disorganized, they’re constantly late (I really shouldn’t get out of a doctor’s office 2 hours after I get there. Not ok.) and the doctor didn’t communicate well.

The Doctor: Dr Kazmierowski
Wow, a lot of the reviewers described my experience perfectly.
Dr K. is a Prescription Pusher: I walked away with 6 or 7 prescriptions. Dr K. told ME to choose which ones I wanted. the Pharmacist couldn’t believe it (the prescriptions would have been very bad to take together)
Dr K. was rude. He was indifferent to my personal story and thoughts.
$ 419.50 later and about 4 – 5 minutes with the doctor.
Awful practice. AVOID.
Now, I’m trying to find a Doctor who has ethics.

Awful experience.
First off, I had to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. I even had my paperwork filled out in advance. Once in the tiny room, I had to wait another 20.
Dr Kazmierowsk was the worst doctor I have ever seen. He was downright rude. He gave me 1,000 options and when I asked which he recommended as a doctor he didn’t give me an answer.
He seemed very uninterested in his job and could care less for his patients. I have never been treated so coldly or rudely by anyone in the medical field. I will not be returning here. Save your co-​pay and find another clinic and doctor.

Dr. Price is one of the BEST doctors I have ever had. She is very thorough and has great bedside manner. The nurses here are so awesome, thoughtful, and caring. I would recommend Dr. Price to everyone!

I had a horrible experience here with Dr. Kazmierowski. He came into the tiny exam room, didn’t examine me (even though I was in the gown), and barely spoke to me. Instead he spoke to the nurse and started dishing out prescriptions. He wanted to have me given all this treatment that should only be reserved for the WORST cases (according to my original dermatologist) I was not a worse case. In fact, I had no further treatment and I am completely fine. I was only there to have an allergy test done.
It was horrible. I would never go back here. I am not a doctor and I don’t pretend to know much of anything, but I know when I am being treated badly. Dr. K could use some lessons on dealing with people. I had questions about my treatment, but he did not answer. He just said this was his recommendation and then left me with the nurse.
For me, I knew I was fine so there was no way in hell I was going to fill and take 6 prescriptions. The entire experience was horrible.
DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR!!!

I like the attention I get from Dr. Price. She’s thorough enough for my taste, although her bedside manner is a bit strange as she never looks me in the eye and simply watches her hands. Maybe it’s just me, but it makes me feel awkward. Other than that she’s helpful, and over just two appts my skin and asthma are doing much better. Also, although she hadn’t wanted to over-​test my allergies in one day, she recognized the importance of having them all done at once since I was miserable off of my anti-​histamines.
The nurses are incredibly sweet and personable. I haven’t had a bad experience with any of them, which is actually why I switched from my last doctor as the majority of the time I’m there it is spent with the nurses rather than the doctor.
The receptionists are very rude and make me feel like an inconvenience. I don’t know why, because I try to be very clear about insurance, co-​payments, and scheduling my appts. I feel like I’m a burden to them, which is silly since a large part of their job is basically like customer service except with patients.
I am usually seen right away by a nurse, but I always arrive early and my appts have always been in the morning so that might attribute to it. When the nurse leaves the room though I have spent 30 minutes waiting each time for Dr. Price, and then I only see her for about 5 minutes.
Overall, I like the place and will continue to see Dr Price, and would recommend going there.

I have been treated here for allergy and immunology problems and have had nothing but top notch service and care. I have been impressed with the knowledge and expertise of my doctor, as well as the friendly and professional care from the nurses and staff. The treatment I have received here has had a huge impact on the quality of my life and I am very glad I found this place!
I’ve seen a review about the long wait time and I can say that in the several times I have been to the clinic I normally got called in to my appointment on time. Once I had to wait for 30 minutes, but it was late in the day. I don’t view that so much as a reflection on the office, but most likely caused by several patients being late and throwing off the calendar for the rest of the day.
Overall, I am very happy with the care and the service from this place.

I recently moved to Portland, OR, from California, in August, 2009. I have moderately bad allergies and had been receiving allergy immunizations in San Jose, CA from a wonderful clinic, and had been under the care of a truly fantastic allergy doctor since summer, 2007. He recommended one of the doctors at the downtown Portland clinic to me when I moved, so I made an appointment and came in. I saw Dr. K. It had been several months since I had an injection, due to moving and traveling for my new job, and Dr. K told me I had to go back in my injection schedule to assure there was no reaction. I appreciated his interest in my health, although his choice of schedules seemed to err very far on the side of caution, and his bedside manner left something to be desired. However, I am no doctor, so I accepted his plan.
When I started care with their office, I also started a new insurance. My co-​payments for doctors visits went from $ 8 to $ 30, and I assumed that I would have a $ 30 co-​payment for each injection visit. When I came to their office for my first injection, I went to the front desk to pay the co-​payment. I spoke with a young woman who informed me that there are no co-​payments for injection visits; she said I did not even need to check in with her, but to go directly to the shot station for my injections. I found that difficult to believe, but she claimed she looked up my account and informed that, indeed, I had no co-​payments.
Upon receiving the news that I did not have to pay $ 30 for each set of shots, I started going to the office for shots as often as I could so as to work back up to my previous monthly immunizations. I WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE SO IF I HAD KNOWN I HAD TO PAY $ 20 FOR EACH SET OF SHOTS. I only found that out when I got a bill for $ 140. Had I known the cost, I would have only gone twice a month, at most.
Because of this, I have been forced to give up my immunizations completely, losing the YEARS I have invested in this course of treatment. To say I am upset and dismayed about this is an understatement.
However, I would like to add that the injection nurses and the main clinic nurses were absolutely fabulous. They were kind, patient, and welcoming, and I have to give the clinic two stars just because of the great nurses.
