Sorry to say that I was not impressed with the vegan pastries I picked up from this location of Black Sheep Bakery. After some of the reviews I’ve read, I expected better. The macaroon was this indistinguishable mush ball that I couldn’t even finish. I tasted like no other macaroon I’ve ever tried. Yuck. The scone was dry… very very dry. I felt like I was gnawing on sawdust. I will say that the almond coffee cake was good. Not nearly as dense as I was expecting it to be and very flavorful without being overly sweet. Still, I won’t be wasting any of my money here again. I can find much better quality vegan pastries in Portland.

Black Sheep Bakery Triple Chocolate Fudge Brownies First of all you don’t have to be vegan to fall in love with these outta sight Triple Chocolate Fudge Brownies. I first discovered them at my Sellwood New Seasons. They were soo rich and delicious that I fell into my ultra save and savor mode cutting each 3″ x 4″ bar into 16 little bite-size chunks. What can I say? Everyone I’ve shared with LOVES them. Try them on a scoop of PurelyDecadent Mocha Almond Fudge. Makes vegan an even smarter choice. BTW they can be frozen and also taste great even a few days old and drier.

I used to love this place and this wasn’t even a year ago. My favorite lady Queen doesn’t work here anymore and seems like the lady who replaced her wasn’t very customer service-ish if you don’t know her. I came there today during my 10 minutes break. Since I work couple blocks away, usually I made it back to work on time. When I got there, there’s another customer with five coffee orders to go. So it took the barista lady about close to 10 minutes to finish that customer’s order. After that she’s chit chatting more with that customer. I guess they know each other. My DL and I feel like they just ignored us. We ended up left with 20 oz Iced Americano about 20 minutes later and I came back late from my break to work. You know. some people really do work and need to be back to do their jobs. You can’t just take your time and chit chatting while you have 4 people waiting in line and I think some of us really do need to go back to work or be somewhere!

Everything at black sheep tastes like dry crumbly sand. Their desserts are what I assume people who aren’t vegan, think vegan desserts taste like. There are much better options around Portland for vegan baked goods. I have entirely no idea how they have received so many good ratings. Do vegans have no standards anymore?

WOW! I had one of their muffins from the farmer’s market and it was the best muffin I have ever had. The sausage one is super creative as well as delicious, and the woman running it was super friendly. I would say this is a must-visit for portland, especially for vegans.

I was already sad to not live within walking distance of places that sell Black Sheep goods, but the last time I was in Portland I had a pastry from Black Sheep that was so good I almost started crying. A vegan cinnamon roll by itself would be something for me to never shut up about, a vegan cinnamon roll with some sort of heavenly sweet potato sticky goo in it was enough to make me shove my mom away so I didn’t have to share more than one bite. The prices are reasonable, the pastries are consistently very tasty, the sweet potato cinnamon roll makes me want to jump on a plane and fly up to Portland right this second.

I used to live 4 blocks away from this place. I would bike by it every other day to get a tasty vegan bake. They also serve good stumptown coffee, but sadly I gave up coffee this year. This place opens early but closes around lunch time. It is also kinda hidden under the activspace on inner SE Main St. I wish they open a place in the NW Nobhill area. Its good to know Black Sheep bakery distributes their goods to local Portland café(check out Anna Banana on NW21st& Northrup). Also, did I mention Black Sheep has a bike-through window? Its so cute!

Black Sheep’s delicious vegan breakfast treats can be found at many different coffee shops around the city. All of their muffins, scones, and breakfast bars are moist, tasty, and quite good(this is coming from someone who loves eggs and butter in my baked goods). Now you vegan Black Sheep fans no longer have to hunt down their goods around town. They’ve recently opened up a small bakery location in inner southeast outfitted with a bike-through window. How Portland!

Black sheep is a great little spot. I’m pretty sure most of the baking happens somewhere else, as they put out too much delicious vegan baked goods to come out of this tiny space, but you can definitely get your coffee and treat fix on here, and through a «bike through» window even. They also sell breakfast and lunch, though you’d better hope you’re the only customer if your hoping to have a seat. Either way, Black Sheep has a very loyal following, and you owe it to yourself to find out why.

Hello, vegan bakery. Hello, peanut butter chocolate chip brownie that knocked my socks off! And whoa, a bike-thru window! Could this place be any cuter? I totally love Black Sheep, and can’t get enough of the vegan treats. The dry mixes look great too, and I’m sure I will be shipping packages of vegan mixes home so that I can take my veganism with me. Yum! Now that the weather is getting nice I plan to stop by the bike-thru window as much as possible! Thank goodness an old boyfriend once bought me a coffee cup holder for my bike – now that will really come in handy!

Ok, so the prices are a little steep. I just paid 2.00 for a muffin. But its GOOD. and VEGAN! This bakery has been cooking up vegan goods for about five years and distributing mostly in Portland to places like Peet’s Coffee and Whole Foods market. They recently started distributing on a national level and opened up a wee tiny space in Southeast. Its in active space, which surpurised cause I didn’t even think they could have a kitchen space in there. This little space sells the breakfasty goods like scones, breads and muffins. The Smart Muffin is good, not too sweet and big enough to fill you up for sure. They have cookies and sweet stuff too. I haven’t had them yet, but its only a matter of time.
