Specialties

Founded in 1988, Butters Gallery, Ltd. is established as an important contemporary art source for both private and corporate collectors nationwide. Our Oregon family owned and operated gallery focuses on artists from throughout the United States and abroad including several prominent regional artists. We look in all directions to find artists whose work is innovative with regard to content and media. Included are paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculpture consisting of a range of media from paint to glass to ceramic to metal.

History

Established in 1988.

Founded in 1988, Butters Gallery, Ltd. opened in the historic Buddha Building, an early move to a neighborhood that ultimately became the Pearl District. The gallery then expanded to two locations; Butters Gallery Ltd. on the corner of NW 9th and Everett and Butters International Arts in downtown Portland. In 1997, Butters Gallery had consolidated the two galleries and moved into the historic NW neighborhood of Old Town/Chinatown. After 18 years of holding art exhibitions in the 5000 square foot loft style gallery, the Butters family once again made a decision to take Butters Gallery to a budding creative location on the central east side of Portland.

Manager

Kristina received her BS in Art Education in 1985 from the University of Oregon in Eugene. With an emphasis in Cultural Services within the School of Art Education, her degree focused on broader arts education opportunities other than classroom teaching only. Through internships during college, she worked at various art organizations such as the Lane Regional Arts Council, the Maude Kerns Center, and the Zone Gallery. After graduation, Kristina moved to Portland and helped open Butters Gallery in 1988 where she continues her role as a gallery art consultant.
