Probably the best pork shoulder I have ever had! And I’ve eaten quite a bit of pork shoulder in my life. I went here on a recommendation during my recent trip to Portland and I am sure glad that they did. The pork shoulder was recommended to me by one of the bartenders and it was sure a good recommendation. The dish was the prefect balance of everything that is good. I’m not a fan of mushrooms at all, but the way they cooked these I could have eaten them until my stomach hurt. I’m not really a fan of pasta either so I really shouldn’t have liked this dish as much as I did, but it was sure amazing!

Unpretentious atmosphere, well crafted cocktail and wonderful farm to table type cuisine except for the beignets with spicy chocolate. A total miss with those. Hard on the outside super dry on the inside and the spicy chocolate lacked enough sweetness to counter the spicy.

Drinks were good. Got lumpia and mussels. Lumpia was super messy. Mussels were good but not super hot it took a while so we kinda thought they got left on the window for a bit. Good atmosphere and fun on a lazy afternoon.

Visited during happy hour. Had a pretty high expectation but the food and service were just mediocre. Not many selections on the happy hour menu. I got mussels and fries and fries were just so so… nothing special.

My wife and I had brunch today at 230 and it was really quite perfect. I had the skillet pancake with honey butter, two scrambled eggs, cranberries and cranberry syrup. My wife had the savoury breakfast porridge topped south poached egg, truffles mushrooms and lardons. Spectacular… We complimented our breakfast with two Irish coffees that were probably the best we’ve ever had.

For brunch, Clyde Common is a great break away from the usual downtown suspects that are loud and crowded. You can have a good breakfast entrée and a yummy brunch drink! I have yet to try dinner but it definitely is on my bucket list!

Did anyone else find out Clyde Common is tapas style only after the food came out? Besides the fact that the prices were lower what you would expect for an entrée($ 16 versus $ 28), there was no indication to me anyways, that the plates would be so tiny. I would label Clyde Common a $$$ restaurant. Food wasn’t out of this world but okay. I was fond of what I ordered — tagliarini nero aka squid ink pasta. The pasta was slightly al dente which I always appreciate. I tried some of someone else’s halibut and it was rather rubbery. Upstairs seating was lovely and less crowded. A good spot to people watch from!

We love coming here for their happy hour. The bourbon renewals are to die for and we love their sister restaurant Pepe Le Moko too for late night drinks.

Updating this review. I was just there last night and really enjoyed Junior and the crew at CC. Great mixologist, and a friendly upscale hipster vibe. It’s the kind of night spot that attracts a wide array from tragically hip to Middle Agers like me. Tell Jr your likes/dislikes and let him whip up a magical concoction for you. Worked for me. We only had cocktails this time, but the unctuous smells kept wafting by, and will bring me back!

Went here for drinks and appetizers with a crew a week ago. I have walked by here multiple times and I always wanted to try out this place because it looked charming & cozy. I loved their house made ginger beer. It was very legit. Really gingery & bubbly! Much better than the batch that I recently tried making at home. We tried a variety of appetizers off of the happy hour menu(which was the way to go because this place is pricey for bar food): mussels, hamburger, cashews, olives, and meatballs. They only thing that wasn’t good was the nuts. They were extremely greasy and not seasoned enough. They were really bland. The hamburger had a great smoky taste & the meatballs were incredibly savory. There drink menu is huge and has a great selection. I loved the Italian glass bulb lights and long wood tables. This is definitely a Portland hipster place!

Stopped in here for dinner, but they had an hour wait, so we grab a seat at the bar and… wholly crap! I thought we could not top, The Devil’s Arce, Tear Drop, The Whiskey Library and the other amazing spots we have visited on our wine country adventure… BUT… the Spelling Bee made by Benjamin at Clyde Common topped them all. Okay, I know, you all are used to whiskey, burbbon, and those other North West staples. This is tequila based! Get out of your comfort zone Portland, and try this amazing libation. Thank Benjamin.

Loved the atmosphere here. Really appreciated all the small touches such as their bottled cocktails and seasonal menu. While all the food was delicious I wish the menu was a little more diverse. Was also a little disappointed in the service, we sat upstairs and had to switch waiters in the middle of our meal without much explanation which we thought was pretty strange. The squash side with pomegranate seeds was my favorite but didn’t love the venison entrée, definitely a little too gamey tasting for me.

Stopped in with some relatives around 9:00pm on a Sunday evening. Bar was busy with not a lot space but restaurant had plenty of available tables. There were 3 of us and when hostess heard we wanted cocktails she immediately just pointed us to bar. We wanted to sit and catch up and maybe have some lighter food. Hostess seemed annoyed when we requested a table. After we were seated, ordered drinks and appetizers the waitress we had was very friendly and attentive. The cocktails were absolutely delicious. Probably one of the best in town. We had the Small Batch Old Fashioned and the Bourbon Renewal. We had 2 each! Appetizers were just as delicious and complimented the cocktails. You must have a cocktail here! Enjoy!

Coming from LA, the best way I can describe this restaurant is if this place was owned by 3 grandmas. You have your Pilipino Grandma who loves to cook and eat. She would always welcome you with open arms. You would never go hungry. Ever. She would have deep flavors in her home cooking and make sure you try her lumpia and crispy pata. Well, not her Pata but the Pata that Chef Carlo makes. You have your American-ish Grandma who came from the south. Rabbits and dirty grits sounds like something you ran over with your Chevy. But then once in awhile, Grandpa comes back with Octopus, Scallops, and Halibut to balance out the meal. Then you have your Drunk-Ass Grandma. Yes, who loves happy hour here from 3 – 6 and who apparently pretty much owns this place because the drink menu is WAY larger than that of the food menu. Apparently this grandma dates Jeffrey Morgenthaler for craft cocktail recipes. The décor is rustic, lots of wood finishes. Totally love the comfort feel. There is an upstairs dining area in case you’ve never seen it. Good for semi large groups. I will be back again the next time I’m in town!

This is a great brunch spot. We were nearby checking out Powells when a craving for food overtook us. After some searching for a brunch spot this place showed up in our Unilocal search so we decided to give it a try. We ended up having to wait 45 minutes but were happy to see that Stumptown was next door. I highly recommend this place. Great service and some great brunch options. I can’t remember the name of the shrimp open faced sandwich I ordered but it was delicious. Great drink menu too.

An absolutely amazing evening here! Excellent drinks(very nice whiskey selections) at a great pricepoint began our adventure. Charcuterie board, octupus, tagliarini nero with clams, rabbit, and halibut left us quite impressed. Took a pondering pause before shortlisting their desert selections down to granita and honey lavender chiboust… both light and delicious. This staff truly deserves all the accolades we’d seen before dining here!!! Great service from Micah, courses were presented in a very timely sequence, never making us feel rushed. Tables are fairly close together, which led to a moment of hilarity as we inadvertently overheard a fellow advising his younger tablemates that«getting a wife is like buying a Porsche». Husband almost fell out of his chair on that one.

I enjoyed my experience at Clyde Common. The Happy hour selection seems to draw people in, as the restaurant was packed on a Saturday evening. The main reason I docked one star is because it seems that they ran out of ingredients for one of their happy hour options. Other than that, my friend and I were seated immediately in their loft area and the service was excellent. The waiter always asked if we needed anything and made honest comments and suggestions. My friend and I ended up getting the burgers, a side of fries and a craft beer. Everything paired well together and I will recommend this place to out of towners like me!

So within the hour of hitting up Blue Star and Lardos, we found ourselves at Clyde Common for afternoon boozing. vibe is cool and hipster, reminiscent of the bars you’ll chance upon in orange county. Since it was empty we were able to gr We ordered a variety of drinks which we all enjoyed though we unfortunately didn’t get a chance to grub due to the aforementioned previous food stops. In any event, their drinks were tasty and had a good kick. Perfect for our afternoon of day drinking.

Honestly the food at Clyde Common was a big let down. I was excited to try the restaurant bc it had over 800 reviews w 4 stars but honestly the food is just ok. The ambience of the place is very modern/chic with dimly lit lights and an open kitchen that has like this comtemporary feel. And one side of the restaurant is a full on bar crowded w people. Very appealing and it makes you wanna eat there. But the food was seriously just ok and it was definitely overpriced for what it was. We ordered the following: Charcuterie Plate(3⁄5) honestly it was just ok. I’ve had better charcuterie plates before. They do give you a lot of meat but I would have preferred a combo of meat/cheese for the price(instead of having to order a charcuterie & cheese plate separately). Octopus(2⁄5) it was ok. The octopus needed more char. I mean it tasted like something I could have just broiled and I don’t even cook. The accompanying mango-ish sauce was ok but it didn’t make the octopus any more tastier. It’s was just there. Brussel Sprouts(3⁄5) it was probably my favorite dish of the night and that doesn’t say much. It was good but I’ve had way better brussel sprouts elsewhere. Rabbit w Potato(3⁄5) it was just ok. I really don’t even remember what the rabbit tasted like. I do remember the potatoes being somewhat good though… Scallops(3⁄5) again just ok. Honestly as you can tell from my review everything was just ok and not very memorable. It was the worst food place we hit up in Portland and we went to a lot of places to eat! And it was expensive for what is was! The ambience is nice but it does not justify the food nor the price! Much better places to eat in Portland! My friends and I were very disappointed.

This place wowed me so much that we visited it twice while on vacation in Seaside, OR. And I got the same sandwich on both visits, even though I was desperately tempted to try something else. We visited at lunchtime on a Tuesday and a Friday and there was no wait for a seat. The crispy squid, spicy fennel, red onion, piquillo pepper slaw, and aioli sandwich, $ 11, is to die for. It’s a huge, honking sandwich, and I devoured it without a moment’s thought. The base is a soft french bread loaf that they slice and then grill, so you get those delicious charred bits that provide such good flavor. The crispy squid portion is comprised of tender bite-size breaded calamari pieces. The spicy fennel, red onion, and piquilo pepper slaw are what really make the sandwich, in my opinion. They provide tang, crunch, depth, and sweet to the meatiness of the squid. My boyfriend got the cheesesteak and he says it’s the best that he’s ever had, including the ones he got in Philly. That might be blasphemous, but don’t you want to try one for yourself so that you can make up your own mind? We were way too full for dessert on both visits, so no comment there. Oh, and the downstairs of the restaurant is composed of communal and bar seating, so don’t be shy about cozying up to your neighbor, whether you know them or not.
