Courtyard Portland Downtown/Waterfront

Wow this hotel is great. I was not expecting the room to be so nice for a marriot courtyard. The room feel is upscale modern. Loved the sleek shower. The ²⁴⁄₇ market to get water beer or snacks was a great feature. We also very much enjoyed the hot tub within the hotel. The main negative for us was we couldnt order movies from our room. Also the restaurant if you can call it that is just meant for a quick lunch: sandwich or salad. The breakfast and dinner options were minimal so you should expect to eat those meals out. I wasnt a fan of the bed pillows (I like mine fairly flat or memory foam) but my husband loves fluffy pillows and enjoyed them just fine. Thats just personal preference. For the price for the room (winter rate) I would say the hotel was exceptional value for the money. My recommendation for the hotel would be bigger and softer bath towels. The ones provided were small and rough. It didnt match the rest of the upscale amenities in the room. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Perfect location, wonderful staff. We were greeted by Julia when we first arrived Friday night. She was very welcoming and had us on our way to the room in less than 5 minutes. I loved how new and modern this hotel was. Our room and bathroom were both surprisingly spacious. The complimentary Paul Mitchell shower products were a nice touch! I just wish the bathrooms had antibacterial soap — I am a complete germaphobe and found myself washing my hands with the bath soap they provide for the shower all weekend. There is a café in the lobby of the hotel which serves food and Starbucks coffee. There’s no complimentary breakfast and the food is overpriced but that doesn’t matter to me when there are so many awesome places to eat within short walking distance! My only big complaint and one thing that might keep me from choosing this hotel next time is the $ 18 per day valet parking.

New Marriott property is conveniently located in the north part of the water front. Serviceable bar with a plethora of local brews and plenty of seating Ina pleasing lobby. Rooms are very clean and welcoming. Great rates during the off season.

I typically would not rate a Courtyard Marriott with 5 stars but this location deserved it. It is fairly new and extremely well maintained (so much so that it looks brand new!) I loved the sleek room décor, great little sofa that we turned to enjoy our 5 th floor waterfront view, and spacious, well designed bathroom!
It is located at the fringe of Old Port but an easy walk up to the action on Fore Street and at the end of the walkable shop and restaurant lined Commercial Street.
As an FYI, I googled and searched for opinions as to whether the Marriott Residence Inn was in the better location and found no comparisons. We walked up near the Residence and hands down I would recommend this location without even noting the stellar rooms unless the free breakfast at a Residence Inn is a draw.
Staff was very friendly and efficient. I’d recommend giving Valet parking 5 minutes min to get your car as its off site (you can text them). Very enjoyable stay at one of the nicest Marriott Courtyards!

My wife and I had a chance to get away for a night in town. This was a very nice hotel in an excellent location. I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to take advantage of downtown Portland.

Came here for a mini staycation/​long weekend at the tail end of the winter. It was a spontaneous decision and the deal we got on the room was AMAZING!
A seriously giant room (king size bed, small couch, armchair, desk & chair, TWO wall mounted tvs, all marble bathroom) for under $ 200/​night. Unbelievable, right?!
Both nights we stayed we found (free) street parking right across the street from the hotel fairly easily… it was raining so that might have helped. I didn’t have much interaction with the staff, other than checking in and the girl working the front desk was extremely pleasant.
I was seriously shocked at how luxurious the rooms were, considering the price and the fact that it’s a Courtyard. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

This is a really good option in the Old Port.
We were upgraded to a water view upon check in and had a nice room on the fourth floor. The rooms are modern, clean, have plenty of electrical outlets as well as charging stations. The king-​sized bed was super comfortable.
The hotel is located a few blocks from the busy area of Commercial street and is within walking distance of most restaurants and shops. Visiting during a very cold and snowy time did cut our walking radius down a bit. Some of the sidewalks in the area were a mess.
One of the cons is that you should pack earplugs. We could hear everything our loud neighbor was doing as well as what was going on in the hall. Our room was along Commercial street and you could easily hear the traffic and the people walking by.
Valet parking was $ 18 a night and you can text for your vehicle whenever you want it. It was always ready for us within 5 minutes.
With so many restaurant options in Portland we didn’t make use of their «Bistro» but it’s nice it is there in a pinch.
It was a good stay overall and I would stay here again.

Recently visited Portland for a concert. We decided to stay the night at this Marriott. It’s located in downtown Portland across from the water. Parking was easily found across the street-​for free!
Staff was very warm, inviting and enthusiastic about the Portland area, making suggestions for dinner and entertainment. The hotel also offered a 24 hour FREE shuttle!!! Dropped us off and picked us up from not only dinner, but also the Portland Music Hall for us to see a show. Drivers were very friendly and also knew a lot about the area.
Room was much nicer than expected. Seems as if the hotel was either new or recently furnished. Bed was VERY comfortable. This may be weird to say, but the shower was amazing! Very new age, excellent water pressure and water was HOT (I hate taking luke warm showers in hotels).
I would highly recommend and definitely stay at this hotel again!!!

I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott over the long Valentines weekend and had a lovely stay. A couple winters ago I stayed for two nights at the nearby Hampton Inn and so that is pretty much what I am comparing this experience too.
We had a king size bedroom which is very spacious and includes a large bathroom, a desk, and a sofa with ottoman. The bed is comfortable with clean fresh white bedding. Bed was on firm side, and the sheets felt a bit rough though. The layout of room is also a bit strange. When you walk in there is a large empty unused space. The bed faces the wall of windows (with an industrial view) and the wall mounted flat screen TV is to the right side of the room so you have to watch it from an angle. In comparison to the room décor/​feel with Hampton Inn, I felt like Courtyard is a bit brighter and airier and sleek, but slightly less cozy.
Bathroom is a great size with a big mirror, soft flattering lighting (thank you jesus) lots of counter space and a large stall shower. I think it’s important to note that there is NO TUB in case you were looking for a soak. The shower however is lovely, very modern, water gets nice and hot and the Paul Mitchell toiletries are a treat.
Service was great, checking in and out was a breeze, valet parking was extremely efficient, and the complementary shuttle also very helpful during snowy parking ban season.
Important to note is that the TV channels are very limited and the menu /​show lineup is not accurate. If you’re thinking get over yourself who goes away to watch TV keep in mind it’s a winter getaway and there were multiple storms and activities were pretty limited.
The valet is a bit more expensive per night here at $ 18, and there is no complimentary breakfast.
Overall I had a good stay, no real complaints, but would pick Hampton Inn on next trip back to Portland.

This is a waste of space. Id say it’s closer to a 2 but it’s not disgusting. It’s clean, they have some options and no one was rude. But it’s boring. Were here during happy hour and there is no music. All we can hear is the girl behind the bar talking kind of loudly. There’s no table service. My happy hour wine kinda sucks. There’s no bar menu. I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t put some effort into this place. And make it a cooler hotel bar.

I typically stay in South Portland when traveling through the Portland area, but decided to give the Courtyard a try this time. It was nice being within walking distance of the restaurants in downtown Portland.
Check-​in was a breeze and I was promptly greeted when I arrived at the front desk. Due to my Marriott status I was upgraded to a king suite.
The room was incredible. Very modern, very spacious, and designed with charging outlets everywhere. This is a great convenience when you travel with several electronic devices.
The furniture is nice, the shower is very large, and the king bed was very comfortable. I was on the 2^nd floor and was expecting some noise, but they obviously but this hotel with quality windows as I could barely hear any noise external to the hotel.
The room was at the very end of the hallway and I could not hear anybody around me, above me, or below me. It was as if I were alone in the hotel, even though it was sold out.
I have stayed in Marriotts from Brisbane, Australia to Times Square and I’m pretty paticular about lodging. With that being said, I would certainly recommend this hotel and will stay here on future visits.

Location, location, okay they get two locations not three. This place was impeccably clean, located right in the old shipyard area of Portland, and had an incredibly soft and comfortable bed. The room was oddly sparse, but a great place nonetheless that I would stay in again if in the area.

Probably one of the nicest Courtyards I have ever stayed at and I travel almost exclusively with Marriott. The design of the common areas, rooms and bathrooms are well done! Highly recommend this place and its vicinity to everything. Walking distance to all great shops, restaurants and bars. My only complaint is the valet guy when we arrived literally just stood there watching us unload our 6 bags and offered no help. Has no customer service skills. Other then him and his ‘bad day’ great place.

I’ve stayed at a lot of Courtyard Marriotts and this is one of the nicer ones I’ve visited.
Location wise it is just a few blocks from the main downtown area with bars and restaurants, but far enough away that it’s a quiet area at night. Parking is a little tough in this area and the hotel charges $ 17 for valet. A bit high in my opinion.
As for the rooms, they are large and it appears they have been recently rehabbed. Big king bed, nice little sofa, and a large flat screen tv. The bathroom was modern looking and clean.
The front desk was very helpful in giving recommendations for local spots to check out.
The only drawback is that this hotel was pretty expensive for the night we stayed. It seems like good hotels are limited near the Portland downtown, so I guess it’s to be expected.

This place just opened in May and sits on the water on Commercial Street in a prime location. The hotel takes up the entire block and it quite large and you can tell it is new. It is very nice and seeing I just had a bad experience at a Courtyard in New Jersey, this place was refreshing. The rooms are all modern and the lobby and floors are beautiful. Everything is updated and free high speed WiFi throughout the entire hotel. There is a Starbucks on the first floor and a sort of café/​bar with outdoor seating and a very spacious lobby. The best part is the location since it is close to all the great shops and restaurants and is sure to be a busy place. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The only thing I guess I would question is the $ 18 a night valet parking, however I guess this area is tight for space. I would highly recommend this property and I will be sure to stay here again.

New hotel with cotemporary decore. Clean and comfortable. Walking distance to local attractions.

From what I’ve heard, Courtyard Portland just finished undergoing renovations two months ago. This easily explains why the interior is super contemporary and modern. MY family and I only stayed here for one night, but the hotel was extremely comforting and accommodating. Also the price point was right on, a little over $ 200 per night isn’t bad for a weekday. Another plus is that the pool/​jacuzzi area don’t get crowded easily like other hotels. Our room, which came with two queens beds was extremely clean and had a comforting feel to it. The spotlights above the beds are a great accent as well!
The only reason why I am giving this hotel four stars instead of five is because upon checking in, we were incorrectly assigned a key to a room with guests already in it… Yeah, I know… awkward. But aside from that little mishap, this hotel is a fantastic place to stay if visiting portland, maine. It is relatively close to the downtown area and has great access to many restaurants nearby.

I returned to Portland for a week long company training session and booze fest and the Courtyard Marriott had finally finished construction so we decided to book a block of about 20 rooms for 7 nights. This place was excellent!
I’ve stayed at some of the top hotels in major metros including many Kimptons and this place is almost at that level. Big, clean, comfortable rooms, a great mix of modern decorum with classic red brick and beam that is the Old Port. They also have a nice little bar that hit the spot after a day of meetings and a huge lounge area that was very comfortable.
The staff was excellent, friendly and very accommodating. They not only have a shuttle service from the airport but also will drop you off and pick you up around town which was great. We also used their conference rooms which suited our needs for about 60 quite well.
The only knocks — it was tough getting breakfast and a coffee quickly in the morning but I can’t really ding them too much for that since there was 20 of us as well as other travelers staying there.
If you want a cool, modern and clean place to stay with most if not all the amenities you need, this is the place. I will definitely come back.

I’ve been a Marriott customer for some time now, and seen my share of Courtyards. The general brand reputation has been middle-​of-​the-​road and a good trade-​off on price versus posh, but this has been changing over the last few years with the Courtyard brand pushing more upscale while still maintaining a reasonable price-​point. Of this change, I can cite the Portland Downtown Marriott as a fantastic example.
On entering the lobby from Commercial Street, there is a large lounge and eating area that features Starbucks in the morning and a bar at night. Wait… a lounge in a Courtyard? You heard me right, erstwhile travelers — a lounge at the Courtyard. With… you know, drinks and stuff. Adult beverages! There is also a large, open space where you can relax, as well as a pool and sauna on the first floor, and a fantastic gym on the second that I’ve never visited despite my best intentions. I’m typically fatigued from the prior night’s inevitable 16 ounce curls anyway.
As I write this, the hotel is approximately a month into its operation. Unsurprisingly, given the recent construction, the rooms are very clean and have ample outlets, including USB ports, for charging up whatever it is you packed in your checked-​in luggage. (I don’t judge.) The layout is modern and inviting, and the beds wonderfully comfortable. A large TV sits above a pull-​out desk, and there is a standard mini-​fridge.
It’s difficult for a new hotel to really hit the ground running, but the customer service aspect has really come up to speed quickly — no small feat. The staff is incredibly helpful and goes out of their way to ensure you have a good experience. The manager was even able to help me book out a few weeks in advance during the busy summer season, and their information «board» — a touch-​screen TV — can get you where you want to be around the very-​walkable Portland waterfront.
Location-​wise, it’s close enough to the Portland nightlife to be convenient, but far enough away to be quiet. I have heard of people heading in for a night on the town and then rolling back to the Courtyard at some ungodly hour to fall blissfully into their plush white comforter and pillows, awakened only at the clamor of their iPhone’s «marimba» at far too early an hour. Or so I am told.
Stay here. You will not be disappointed.

Modern styling, and newly updated inside. Huge shower w/​glass wall (no icky shower curtain!). Multiple phone charging outlets in the room. Comfortable pillows & beds. Not *exactly* waterfront, but easy walking distance to old port shops, restaurants, harbor. Starbucks in the lobby. Parking is valet-​only.
