My Mom passed away after a very painful period of sickness. As you can imagine, this has been a difficult time. No matter what we’ve been feeling, how ready my siblings and I were to talk about arrangements, no matter our experience in handling these kinds of affairs, Bruce and the others here at Crown Memorial have been great. They’ve shown compassion and patience. They’ve answered all my questions about availability, pricing and even took the time to talk to me about the durability of the keepsake urns. I loath the idea of needing to utilize their expertise very often, but I don’t imagine any other place would do. I absolutely recommend coming here for your loved ones. And if you’re reading this, then hang in there.

This memorial center has not made my father’s death any easier for me to go through. They have demonstrated an utter lack of professionalism.
In order to plan the arrangements long-​distance, they were supposed to call me at 11am a couple of weeks ago. ¹⁰⁄₁₅ minutes after 11, after hearing nothing, I called them. They said they were having «technical issues» and that they would have to call me back, which they did 20 or so minutes later. Really? They couldn’t at least call to let me know this?
Furthermore, I asked for a lock of hair to be saved before the cremation so I could have a piece of Victorian memorial jewelry made. They promised me this would be done. But when the ashes arrived, there was no hair. Turns out they forgot. I am very upset and heartbroken — I had one simple request and they failed to acknowledge it.

Super chill and straightforward. It wasn’t scary or depressing and they didn’t try to up-​sell us at all. And as a side note they do pets too!
Okay– here is the raw deal. Dad died at home and was battling cancer so he was under hospice care. When we were ready to have him taken away, Crowns employees wrapped him in nice bright blue sheet. Then they skillfully transferred him the gurney and then draped a beautiful gold quilted blanket over him leaving only his face visible. We were able to say our goodbyes once more before they left. It was so nice and cool. The crew was professional and gentle. A couple days later, we went to the office to finish up the business side of things and then they called a few days later with my dad’s remains in a nice white cardboard box. It was a relief to not have to worry about him or being raked over the coals financially.

Our son Corbin passed away a couple of days ago. We knew he would be cremated but wasn’t sure where. Fortunately we chose Crown Memorial after a brief search. Ryan was the perfect person to handle our services. He is very professional and compassionate. This is a very difficult job but he handled it with grace and dignity. We are very grateful.

I am really grateful to Crown Memorial. I dealt with Bruce at the location in Portland on Broadway. He is simply the right person to be in this line of work, and I imagine his co-​workers are on the same level. My father passed, and he made everything very easy to take care of, which was of great assistance. Not only are the prices half or even less then half of other places I called, I felt received with genuine compassion and care. There was no sales pitch or persuasion to spend more money then needed, which was a simple cremation. Bruce was kind and took the time with us to hear our personal stories about my dad, look at his pictures, giving genuine comfort. It really didn’t feel like a business transaction, but like an interaction with a kind person who was there to help through a difficult process. I highly recommend Crown Memorial.

My baby sister recently passed away while living in Oregon. Throughout this painful time, we needed to find a way to respect her wishes to have her cremated as well as bring back to Michigan in time for her services. I began making calls and was immediately impressed with Megan at Crown Memorial. Not only were their prices reasonable, but most importantly her compassionate demeanor let me know that she would ensure Bridget received the best care possible. Throughout our process of laying Bridget to rest, Megan was so patient, supportive and understanding. She also worked hard for us to ensure we were able to bring Bridget home on the plane with some of our other siblings in time for a service in Michigan. As you can imagine, during such times of transition through deep sorrow, an act of love from another person touches one’s soul with great tenderness and comfort. I never once felt like I was simply working with them on a purely business level. Instead, I always felt like I was being received on a very human and personal level. Thank you Megan and Crown Memorial for putting people first and for your beautiful hearts.

We worked with Cindy and Cheri, and to say that they have been amazing would clearly be an understatement. These angels were just so patient and understanding helping me and my sister make arrangements for Mom. They made a tough situation as painless as possible. I would certainly recommend them and tell people how kind and helpful they are.

When my mother, mother-​in-​law and father died we went through a funeral home that understood the catholic funeral process. The experience was much like buying a car. Negotiating, the hard sell, the upcharges– it was awful. In my third «negotiation» I did demand a $ 1000 discount and received it– so try to be strong at that horrible time in your life and fight for saving money.
For my brother’s funeral we knew we were just going to have a simple cremation and plan the funeral ourselves. Crown was excellent to deal with. No sales pitch, no scare tactics (at the other funeral homes we were told about leakage of containers for actual burial and the extra steps to insure that one casket didn’t fall into another in an up/​down burial plot– all of these tactics led to huge charges. Not a good thing to happen to a grieving family that has a hard time making decisions during such a stressful time.)
We walked into Crown and they told us that they knew exactly what we wanted, gave us the quoted price and gave us tips that could save us money in other ways.
Thank you Crown for restoring my faith in the industry– an industry that is more concerned with making money off you than just taking care of what is necessary at the time.
