Dennis’ 7 Dees Landscaping & Garden Center

This spring, I purchased a tree from them. It was wilting and their advice was to water and fertilize more. WRONG! They sold me a tree with Verticillium Wilt. This is a soil borne fungus that destroys the tree. There is no cure for Verticillium Wilt. We have had to remove the tree and all surrounding soil, and disinfect all the tools. I hope that it doesn’t spread to the rest of our landscape. This is the last purchase I will ever make at Dennis’ 7 Dees.

Great Place with knowledgeable help and attention to detail. Plants and trees seem healthy and happy. I scheduled a delivery and they arrived on time and were polite and professional. I think his name was Matt. They planted my three arborvitae and gave me guidance on the best placement. Matt also gave me advice on some of the plants I already had and how to keep them healthy and maintained. Great Job. So glad I payed a little extra to get the job done right.

For the second time this year my husband and I hauled our patio pots down to Seven Dees and to be planted for us. We gave very little guidance but mostly asked to be surprised, kinda like when you ask the chef to order for you. Today we picked up the pots that Joe artistically put together for us and let me say: They are beautiful! Beyond what I hoped for, these gorgeous fall/​winter pots will dress up our patio over the next few months in a stunning way. It’s obvious that Joe put his heart and creativity into them, they are lovely and will surely bring compliments.

I have purchased trees at this garden center. I bought 4 trees from them 10 years ago and had excellent service, tree options and pricing. My trees are still growing and looking great in my yard. I went here a few more times over the years to look at plants and don’t care for their selection or pricing overall for plants. They have a good rose selection, but I have all the roses I want at this time. They have the basic ornamentals, but do not offer many native plants or good looking vegetable starts.
Their staff are helpful, but did not have answers to my specific plant questions. So far I found if you can get the attention of the actual gardeners working there and not the «sales» staff walking around you can get some very good information on the plants.
I just bought a persimmon tree last month and took advantage of their ½ off sale. Getting a tree for $ 25 is great! While I pulled out three trees and debated which one I wanted a lovely garden worker woman came by to tag my tree. She was very informed about persimmons and their tree growth/​stature. After I picked a tree with her help she bagged up the base of the tree extremely well and helped load it into my car.
I will come back for trees or roses, but won’t bother looking at their ornamentals that I don’t need in my native landscaped yard.

My experience was a five star but since I’ve only been there once I felt compelled to temper the review until after further visits. I believe it was Jessica that walked me through all that I needed for seeding and planting! Thanks.

I had been meaning to check this place out, but the location is little out of my usual route. I had bought a deal online recently, so I finally went today. I don’t have green thumbs; rather, I’m an eternally hopeful, optimistic, yet seemingly perma-​black thumbs with knowledge (or lack thereof) to match.
Anyway. So I was looking for some ground-​cover for my front yard. I found the staff VERY helpful, friendly and available (not in an intrusive or pushy kind of way at all). They had lots of selections on every type of plants. I thought their prices were decent. I enjoyed my first ever visit to Dennis’ 7 Dees, so I was going to give 4-​stars as I was waiting to check out, but then I decided to add another star just because of the cashier lady who was the nicest which is, sadly, not too common when you use ANY «deal», but she treated me like I just spent hundreds of dollars.

I had a pretty good experience here. My goal was to find two, low-​light, low-​maintenance house plants to replace the fake ones my mother had purchased for me in college. Both the employees were very helpful and friendly. They seemed to know a lot about the plants and had good knowledge concerning general plant care.
They had a good selection of plants and accessories. The location also included a rainbow of colored pots, bird feeders, supplies, and decorative garden items. I’ve lived close by for over a year but have never visited, partly because it seemed a little drab from the outside. They have some nice planters by the side of the road but there isn’t much color or life in them. It would be a nice touch to have those be spruced up a bit.
I ended up purchasing two plants and a shiny silver pot. I had two Chinook Book coupons I was hoping to use. One went fine…20% off the pot. The other was for $ 5 off $ 20 worth of houseplants. However, all plants were already 20% off so I couldn’t use this one, even though it would have been the better deal even if the plants weren’t on sale. They explained that they couldn’t use the coupon even if they used the full-​price of the plants because management and the computer system both would not allow it. Oh well. I might come back at some point.
They have a rewards program, which I signed up for. It seemed to include the multitude of typical rewards: One point/​dollar spent, free birthday surprise, etc. Oh, and they have a friendly store cat. Nice.
Another customer came in at the end before my transaction was finished and immediately started asking for an identification of a tree-​cutting she had brought in. The employee tried to multitask and help her while finishing my transaction, but it was a little off-​putting, especially when I had to carry a fairly large box of plants out the door and no one offered to help me open it even though they were very close by discussing the tree-​cutting.
Besides the door mishap I enjoyed my time here and am enjoying my new plants as well.

Just left the Cedar Hills Seven Dees nursery, after driving from Camas (aboout 35 minutes) to see the reindeer. First: there’s only two reindeer in a tiny pen. Second: You must purchase your cider, cocoa, & other winter treats from a food cart in the cold, cold parking lot. Third: Don’t feed the reindeer with the reindeer food sitting temptingly in the tub next to the reindeer pen, or a Seven Dees employee will rush over and make you feel like the lowest life form that ever crawled out from under the lowest rock in the lowest, foulest crevice on the planet. Just saying. To be treated more like a sentient being with feelings and opposable thumbs, visit Shorty’s Garden & Home in Vancouver.

Michael Curtin is an extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly plant expert. I went in to get some advice on my first «balcony garden.» He took the time to determine what my needs and priorities were, and walked me through several options to approach the project as well as advised me on suitable shrub and flower species for my needs, aesthetic preferences and budget. The plants are lovely, the ambience very personable (see Smokey the mascot cat asleep near the register when you walk in). My 9 year old son was with me and Michael engaged him as well. My realtor recommended I go and I’m glad I did. I appreciated everything about the experience and will definitely be going back as my garden expands. Also, if you like to grow orchids, Michael has a special interest in those as well!

Fantastic gardening classes and a great selection of plants, including vegetable starts, seeds and all the necessary supplies.

I have found staff at Dennis’ Seven Dees to to consistently friendly and helpful.
Their planscaper program is the deal of the century!!! Stacie Palmer has given me the ideas I lacked and helped me save a fortune. Her plans for half of my front yard and then problem areas in the back are fantastic. I have learned so much and enjoy my time in the yard more than ever.
Every store I have visited (three so far) has it’s own flavor and has been interesting.
A great asset for Portland gardeners.

I had to get house plants. I went to the one on the east side and the service was so rude. But I needed plants so I ended up going to the one in Beaverton where the service was really passive aggressive. They approach you like they are handling hazardous waste, and then ask a thousand questions when you know specifically what you want. After purchasing houseplants from this place, I ended up with fruit flies.

I really enjoy going to this location — the staff is very helpful, knowledgeable and considerate. The plants are in amazing shape plus this is one of the very few nurseries around that carry a selection of pond plants. The prices can get a touch steep but are reasonable when you figure you are not having to drive out far.

Once we finally get to talk to their ONE trees person, we got great customer service. Lisa really knew what she was talking about, and gave us some great advice and the benefit of her experience as a grower.
We had pretty specific requirements for shrubs (can handle full sun, will grow to a certain height, won’t require a ton of maintenance) and she helped us pinpoint what would work for us. She also gave us a good discount since we were buying a larger number of plants.
I didn’t really experience any ‘tude from the customers, but then, they weren’t super-​busy when we were there. Given this is suburban soccer-​mom-​land, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the type of customers others have described, however.

The selection of plans is slightly better than what one would find at Home Depot. The staff is friendly and helpful. The downside is that it is next to Highway 26 so the constant traffic noise doesn’t make for a pleasant shopping experience. The isles are tightly spaced so it is difficult to get around other customers, who are *always* in ones way. Three separate trips met with three separate fellow customers with an attitude.
Overall, it isn’t a place I would go out of my way to get to. A person is better served going to another nursery.

This is in regards to the Cedar Hills location of Seven Dees specifically.
If you can deal with fellow customers who are rude or inconsiderate, or if you believe in voting with your dollar where the customers are rude or inconsiderate… then go. They have nice plants, the staff is nice, they have lots of pots, a good selection of hand tools but… we will not be going back.
All three times we went there were obnoxious customers who were either annoyed that my cute husband comes with me to get our plants (their husbands provides them with charge account), or were annoyed that they had to carry a single, small box of flowers to their own car because we were being checked out. *The horror.*
A nice day out to get fabulous plants and *enjoy* the experience is too awesome to spend it with other customers who are ‘not present’ by blocking the already small aisles over and over again, or give you dirty looks driving off in their Lexus because you prevented them from having their _​_​_​kissed. Life is too short for them to be that unhappy.

This place is going through a fantastic transformation. We stopped by recently and met with the new manger Mike Curtin and had a wonderful time learning about plants for our garden. The place is looking great after much needed reorganizing.
