Dental Care Today

Extremely rude. They canceled my wisdom tooth surgery about 20 minutes before my appointment. I had taken off work and mentally prepared myself. And they weren’t even apologetic about it. Got rescheduled for 3 months later. The oral surgeon who did the procedure was great and very good at his job. It’s the support staff, mainly the receptionist, that is terrible and borderline abusive. Very unprofessional.

I am usually not one to take the time to write reviews, but I must say I was quite impressed with the Portland Dental Care Today NE Broadway clinic. From the time I made the appointment through to the check-​out process, each employee was courteous and clearly explained each step. The dental technician, Frank, did an exceptional job. He took care to ensure I was comfortable at all times and took my concerns into consideration as he worked. When I felt uncomfortable, he listened and made a point of making adjustments. The dentist was also wonderful and I felt I was in good hands.

This place is awful. I needed to schedule an urgent appointment to have an exposed wisdom tooth removed, but the manager wouldn’t even let me express the previous clinic’s concerns. Then she went ahead and scheduled me for three months out, not knowing it was an emergency because she had such an attitude when I was trying to explain it all to her. When I tried to explain my situation again, she accused me of being abusive, and hung up. This location is very poorly managed, and you’d be better off making the appointment at an alternate location. They will screw things up here, even if you think there’s nothing to screw up. Horrible place.

Terribly rude and incompetent office manager — worst I have ever experienced in my many trips to the dentist/​orthodontist/​oral surgeon. I wrote a long detailed review but it got erased, so DM me if you would like details. AVOID.

This is, hands down, the best dental office I have ever been to. The staff is incredible! Friendly, professional, polite… They go out of their way to make sure you have the best care possible.
I especially want to commend Robin on her excellence. She has been in the dental profession for years, and she knows what she is doing! She is incredibly smart and the best in the field! I recently started with OHP dental and decided to go to Dental Care Today. I’m so happy I did! The staff and quality of the work are great. I’m a happy customer!

Very rude and unprofessional staff. If you’re like me, needing to visit the dentist is bad enough, whatever the reason, but I was astounded at the attitude of the staff here. I’m sure they must deal with some difficult patients but, honestly show some compassion or get a new career.

I went there for the first time my appointment was at 1:45 p.m. I sat in the tiny waiting area for and hour before they got me back to even start x-ray’s, when finished with x-​rays the assistant said I will be right back with the dentist and we will discuss the plan with you, I then waiting another hour and she finally can in told me a few things that needed done and the said if you have any questions ask her pointing to the assistant, there was no privacy I could see and hear other patients getting work done, I then was told to go to the lobby and I would be called up to make my appointment I sat for another 20 min, before I was called up and then told the next available appointment for a cleaning would be 2 months from the day I was there, If you don’t mind spending hours at the dentist for nothing and then waiting longer for your next appointment this is the place for you, but if you want a place that is clean, friendly, courtesy please go to another place, I have never been to a dentists office that felt so dirty, unwelcoming, or had to wait as long as I did here.

The whole team was wonderful and super helpful! They were all very understanding and did their best to work around & through my insurance limitations in order to get my treatment taken care of successfully. Thanks guys!

Do Not go here. Upon walking in, the waiting area was tiny. My daughter who I had made the appointment for wanted to play with the toys that had in the corner. I refused after seeing how disgustingly dirty they were. We tried to check in, but it seemed that the appointment I had made on the phone was never scheduled. Awesome! So I guess the conclusion would be to find another office. And one that keeps appointments that people make. Avoid. Plus no one had a smile on their face.

Dr. Han and her staff are AWESOME! I’ve been going to them for over a year now, and I have to say this is the BEST dentist office I’ve ever been to! Yes they’re a low income dental office, and yes they mostly only take OHP, and yes you may have to wait a month or two to get it, but it’s all worth it! The staff is EXTREMELY friendly, and Dr. Han seems to actually care about her patients and their dental health. I love the staff and I love Dr. Han. I really appreciate everything that they’ve done for me since I’ve been a patient there! A++++++++. I really don’t understand all these negative reviews. The only negative experience I’ve had was having to wait an extra 45 minutes before my appointment. But that wasn’t their fault, it was the fault of the patient before me, being a whiny lil baby (I could hear him). Over all, I’d recommend them to any of my friends and anyone else who needs some work done!

My daughter was about to have her bottom wisdom teeth extracted. I went on the Internet to find reviews about the particular doctor an office we were going to. I found that the reviews were disturbing. Although the doctor have no bad marks there were really no about him either. I was pleased to find out that for our experience the office reviews were wrong. The office staff was very pleasant and informative. The doctor although very methodical was sure to explain the procedure fully and was clearly educated in this field. I researched doctor Grozben and found that he had studied at Tufts University. Very impressive. All this man does is teeth extractions so you could imagine he’s quite good. They gave us all the information that we needed for the after procedure protocol. The only questionable thing that I could say happened was that they gave recommendation for a little too little painkiller for the first day. But this was resolved when I contacted the emergency after hours number and was assured that she could take a little more, problem solved. Don’t be afraid of the lack of privacy. There are no real rooms. Rather partitioned areas. This made us nervous at first but it had nothing to do with the service. We were ther for help, not aesthetics. Dental Care Today is a dental clinic that almost exclusively serves people with OHP. So it’s a low-​cost clinic but the only way you might be able to tell is the utilitarian décor of the waiting room, the rest of the experience is just like that of another office.
I have had two appointments at Dental Care Today, an initial exam that included x-​rays and a consultation with the dentist, and a routine cleaning with just the hygienist. Both appointments started exactly on time and the hygienist and x-​ray techs were professional and gentle. The place is clean, and the service was as good of quality as I have received at clinics when I had personal insurance. I can’t say I noticed the ceiling tile that the other disgruntled reviewer mentioned.
When you make an appointment you have to wait a couple months. And the initial appointment does not include a cleaning; you have to schedule that AFTER you have had the initial exam. A little annoying. But overall a good place, fairly centrally located, with competent, compassionate staff. I’ll be back.

For some reason no matter how many times I explained which tooth I was having a problem with, they could not get top and bottom, left and right straight. This was very concerning to me. Fortunately, as of this month I am on university health care so I no longer qualify for OHP, so I’m trying to get my dental records, including X-​rays, transferred to the university dentist. Someone at Dental Care Today apparently thought that mailing a paper photocopy of my X-​rays was an appropriate response, so my new dentist asked me to call them to straighten things out. Today, I had the unexpected experience of Dental Care Today questioning whether I *really* have a right to my own dental records, since OHP paid for them. I will be filing a complaint with the Oregon Health Authority.

This place is such a joke! I have been waiting for two months to get in and they call this morning say doctor is sick and appointment cancelled. I understand people get sick but this is the kicker… Next Appointment offered was on November 20^th today is September 9^th. How does that even sound like customer service I’m ashamed that I have been forced to work with from OHP.

First of all, let me start by saying I actually like going to the dentist. I have no phobia, discomfort, or anxiety regarding my annual (or biannual if insurance covers it) visit. My experience at Dental Care Today on NE Broadway may change that however.
The office was DISGUSTING! For any business it was gross, but especially for a medical facility… it was totally icky. It’s a tiny space, very cramped front office/​waiting area as well as tiny «rooms» (more like cubbies without privacy) in the back. The carpet is stained, the dilapidated ceiling tiles are falling apart, and the décor was just plain old. Maybe aesthetics aren’t important to everyone, but my impression of this business tanked after spending just a few minutes there.
For the first time during a trip to the dentist, I was nervous upon sitting in ‘the chair.’ Not because of pain, but germs. EVERYTHING was old and grimy, from the countertops to the xray machine that the tech touched, then touched something and put it in my mouth, then touched it again after having touched that which was in my mouth. EWW. It was not like any other dental office I’ve been in. Usually, the tools are wrapped in disposable plastic to keep things sterile (or as close to as possible). Not this place. It was not hygienic at all.
The staff was okay, maybe a little worn and gruff from dealing with difficult patients, but polite to me. They even fit in a cleaning during my initial new patient exam, which was nice (although I don’t understand why xrays and cleanings are separate in the first place).
I won’t go on anymore about the antiquated and icky interior, I’ve made my point. I was just so shocked that I felt compelled to write a review. I will be booking my next appointment at one of their other locations, which apparently are nice, clean, and updated. I advise everyone to do the same.

Just got back from doing a walk-​in at Dental Care Today for a broken composite molar filling. It was an extremely pleasant experience. I was dreading it thinking I would have to wait all day but got lucky when I showed up at 7:45am and two people canceled their appointments. All of the assistants in there including Robin were super amazing and sweet. The dentist was awesome. Dr. Patel. You could tell she knew what she was doing. Even as a walk-​in she was very kind and assertive to my needs. All in all I walked in there just before 8am and walked out the door at 10am sharp. Highly recommend this place. Even looking forward to my actual appointment in two months.
