We are a neighborhood gastropub with something for everyone including three different atmospheres between the pub dining room, the downstairs Tap Room and the 4 season patio. Enjoy a wonderful dinner, brunch or late night meal paired with a local craft beer, wine on tap or cocktail crafted with love. Come for happy hour and gather around a fire table on the patio or opt for the tables with swinging chairs. The main floor is our dining room with a full bar, stage for live music and a giant movie screen for movies or cartoons during weekend brunch. The downstairs Tap Room has DJs, arcade games including Skee Ball and a full bar. We love hosting big groups and benefit nights. History

Established in 2008.

Established in 2008, EastBurn is a Portland style Public House in the Buckman neighborhood. EastBurn features 19 constantly rotating craft beers, swinging chairs, fire tables on the patio, live music, skeeball, along with fantastic brunch and dinner, Chef Brandon Smoak focuses on elevating the pub food experience with dishes that comfort and delight. General Manager Josh Roeder oversees a lovingly curated draft list and cocktail menu.

Fun spot. Lots of great attributes to this bar. It’s got a great atmosphere, great drinks, and pretty good food. Definitely a good spot for brunch that doesn’t usually have a 2 hour wait.
Big plus for the swinging chairs they have. Can be a bit hard to sit in if you’re eating but if you are just drinking, the swings rule.
Downstairs is a cool area with ski ball and some other arcade games. Plus they always host pretty cool events at this spot. Big fan of the Superthank events, and have been to quite a few other awesome events — sports, viewings etc on the projector upstairs or TVs out on the patio. They often have some pretty cool local acts play tunes up in the restaurant as well.

I am here all the time. I chill here and do homework during the day, they have an amazingly tasty happy hour for the afternoon, a cute valentines brunch, and I threw my bf a surprise party in the basement here. I love the swings, the beers, the atmosphere.

Came in on a Saturday night, around 7:30. With a group of 4. Server was nice and friendly… We ordered and didn’t get our food until almost an hour later. Looking around the restaurant not a lot of people got their food in the same hour we were waiting. Food was a bit pricey for what it was.

Food arrived on time, however we were rushed and felt judged by our waitress. Nothing additional was offered and the server seemed to act as though we were not able to pay our tab. This was unfortunate because my last experience was great when I was in town last. I will not be returning to this establishment.

Let me start by saying I love the east burn, we go here all the time. Today was different and made me want to write this. It was busy when we went in so we sat at the bar for brunch– which two people were at. The bartender took our orders, but had a poor attitude. I watched her not serve me biscuits, take shots with three other servers, talk to another server instead of initially taking our order and just again have a shitty attitude. It upsets me when I go to places I really love and there is poor service or bad servers. If I was a server and behaved like that u would be fired. East burn is awesome– just want them to take note of their servers who blatantly tell their coworkers they don’t want to be there and can’t wait to be picked up from work in front of customers. Not to mention the champagne shots– but I guess that’s their business.

Vibe was great, drinks were great, interior was nice and the food was delicious. I had the Mac ‘n cheese and it was amazing! We ordered 3 bottles of wine for the table, very reasonably priced.
Our server Erin went above and beyond. She took such good care of us and made sure everything went smoothly– down to even bringing the cake out at the perfect moment. I was so impressed by her that I had to call this morning to ask her name to show my gratitude. She was a big part of the reason my friend enjoyed her birthday so much.
I will absolutely be coming back!

Good food, but very different atmosphere depending on when you go. On the weekends, the downstairs turns into a weird club-​ish sort of vibe with loud techno music which is not what I was going for when I arrived. However, since there was a band upstairs they asked for $ 15 cover which we weren’t prepared for, so down we went. I would not like to go back down there but will return for brunch & casual beer/​burgers upstairs.

This is a great place for snacks and drinks. Plus they have these cool swinging chairs both inside and outside that you can sit at. They offer regular seating as well for the less adventurous folks. The Trinity Fries are a must have whenever you go here. Bring friends, eat and be merry.

I like this place. The happy hour is good and the waitstaff has always been nice. I can usually find something I like from thier beer selection, and my wife likes thier cocktails. Don’t really live close so visits are few and far between, but when we want to head to that side of town, this place is definitely on our list.

Like the trinity fries. EastBurn is definitely one of my favorite places to drink/​eat because it’s convenient, relaxed atmosphere, their staff is friendly and they have enough space for small group gatherings.

Had a very bad experience, which sucks, because we love this place usually. Had it delivered by delivered dish. Apparently this makes a big difference? Got the wasabi edamame dip (bland, flavorless, just bad!) then we shared the lobster fettuccine… wow, no flavor, pasta was still slightly raw. I luckily was at home and was able to add salt, pepper, and garlic, and re heat it all to help cook the pasta… really, I couldn’t believe for a 17 $ plate I had to do this, poorly played east burn :(

Pros: low key atmosphere, the swing seats in the patio, alcohol choices are good enough
Cons: Food and art: (this place screams gimmicky portland). If you like you like your sweet potatoes mixed with real potatoes, come here.
Musical acts hoping to play here: the sound bounces everywhere, you do the math. Bring your own bass drum mic. Actually, bring your own everything.

This is really fun place to come for a more «low key» night out with friends, especially if you sit out on the enclosed patio. That’s where my friends and I sat on Saturday at 9pm. There a few round tables with a fire pit in the center, as well as three tables that have swings for seats! So much fun! we sat in the swings for a bit but then decided to move to the tables with the fire pits so it was easier to talk. The whole thing is heated, so don’t be concerned about being cold out there.
Their house cocktails were a little hit and miss: while most of our party enjoyed their’s, one of my friends really disliked his — said it just tasted like water :-/​The staff were friendly and quickly offered to make him another drink if he wished. I’m adding east Burn to my list of bars on the Eastside for when I’m looking for a more chill evening out with friends.

They have good make your own bloody Mary’s, and there’s not a super long wait for brunch time. Their food was pretty good with good options, and there’s lots of seating.
For the evenings the bar is usually fun and they have good holiday themed parties. I’ve been here a few times for Halloween and have always had a good time. The drinks are also well priced.

Great place, awesome atmosphere! I love the swing benches on the patio or the bird cage suspended chairs in the upstairs seating area! Downstairs there is ski ball! Which is really fun and only .25 a game! There is usually always something going on at east burn from what I have gathered the past 3 times I have been.
Most recently I was there and had some grub I highly recommend the trio fries they are very good! Some friends and I shared an order of them and it’s a good serving, great for a small group of people. Trio fries are a combination of sweet potato fries (or yam fries whatever the orange one is!) Regular fries and topped with French fried onions served with a tomato aioli.
I ordered «the Über sandwich» and was pretty surprised of how it tasted. The combination of the chutney with the potato pancake along with the perfectly cooked pork chop was very well designed! Bravo. And they of course have a very nice selection of brews on tap.

A delicious combo of sausage/​gravy/​potatoes/​egg/​kale.
I ordered the eggs sunny side up. The yolk + gravy mix is a must. Sausage had a taught outer with a dense delicious interior.
Mimosa was pretty dope too.
Sat out side. Vibes were on point. Good music. They have chairs that are swings which is dope and Portland AF.

So we can at the beginning of happy hour before they had totally gotten their act together. We decided to sit outside in the back patio, which might have been a bad decision on our part because there was no one out there and it was really hard to get service! The waiters mostly stayed inside and came out every so often.
What’s great about this place is that they have a lot of card games, board games, etc. They have trivia pursuit at every table!
The staff are pretty nice and laidback. No rush or urgency in their step.
I had their rosarita, I didn’t really like it, it was strong which was nice, but it came in such a small glass on the rock, that would couldn’t really enjoy it. Some people could probably finish it in just 2 or 3 sips! It wasn’t worth how much you got for the price I don’t think.
The happy hour menu wasn’t too bad. The only healthy thing on there was the salad; which was tiny. and then you pay to pay almost as much as the salad cost just to add chicken. I had the mac n cheese, which was delicious. It was a good amount for the happy hour price, but I definitely would not have like to pay full price for it.
Overall, the food is pretty good, the service is ok, but I think it’s overpriced. But that’s just me!

I was finally able to get here during happy hour and wow, so impressed! Happy hour food can sometimes be a bit lame but EastBurn easily has one of the best menus.
Their happy hour drink specials are plentiful and although we only had one drink each, they were delicious and affordable.
For food, we went all out. We ordered the kale and goat cheese dip, the trinity fries (a must for a reason) and my friend ordered a small spinach salad that looked mighty delicious. One of the specials on the regular menu was the crab cakes and I could not resist. And so glad I didn’t! For $ 11.00, I was a little concerned they wouldn’t be worth it but these were some of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had. What they lacked in size, they made up for in serious flavor. Not a lot of filler, wonderful tender crab, and perfectly crispy on the outside. These two cakes, along with the sauce and microgreens on the side, were so perfect. We completely demolished all of the dishes – completely stuffed! – and I’m already planning on when to come back.
They weren’t too busy for the beginning of happy hour but after 5pm, the place started to fill up quickly.

This review is for food only, 5 stars to the staff!
We decided to give you EastBurn another try. After the NYE experience. We stopped by for lunch the other day and really wanted to get the steak sandwich. We order the steak sandwich and the hamburger, but were informed by our server after putting the order in that they were out of the pretzel rolls the steak sandwich was supposed to come on. The whole reason we wanted the steak sandwich was because it came on a potentially awesome pretzel roll (pretzels are sorta my favorite…) so we changed our order and got the turkey Cubano.
Both the burger and turkey sandwich where tasty, but I wouldn’t say they were special. The other thing that was frustrating was that the only options for lunch are sandwiches, and salads. They did also have a macaroni and cheese with bacon. I wish the lunch menu has more options, and variety.
Its very rare that I am able to go out for dinner because of the job I work, so lunch is usually my only option.
I will say that once again the staff was amazing, our server was super sweet and very attentive.
I really enjoy the energy of Eastburn, but in the future it will likely be a place where we go to grab a beer and have a laugh.

How I love you EastBurn, you rock!
Pre-​kids I went to EastBurn for the live bands, $ 2 tap Tuesdays, Skee Ball, board games, and especially the Trinity Fries! O, the Trinity fries are sooo good. Russet and sweet potatoes with fried leeks, and a roasted tomato aioli. Yum!
Since the little ones arrived this has become one of our go to brunch spots. They take reservations, so no worrying about hanging out waiting in line with a hungry kid or two. The service is fast, and the brunch is quite tasty. On the not kid friendly side, they have $ 2 mimosas during brunch hours, awesome!
There is a great selection of beers, and mixed drinks. TV’s to view the game. The patio has swing chairs, and personal fireplace tables.
Like I said, EastBurn, you rock!

We had intended to go downtown for happy hour for a Thursday night rendezvous, but EVERY. SINGLE. place we tried was packed (at 930 at night, BTW). Ridiculous. So tired of this crap; it was Thursday, which basically means it was Saturday night, which means we keep driving until we can find someplace without a wait.
We ended up at EB because I had been and had some good experiences and it looked like the possibility of getting a table was good. So glad we persisted.
Downstairs (with Skeeball!!) was a bit loud and we just wanted a little quiet so we could have our lil datey date.
Walked back to the bar and there was nothing, so Hubbs notices the patio and we take a look. SHAZZAM! There was some live music in the main dining area, just a man and his guitar kind of deal. Good, but yell-​y at times and we could still hear and appreciate him out on the patio.
Hubbs was instantly sold on the swangin’ seats. But it was getting late and the server warned us that outside service would be ending. But Mr. BOBCAT was the awesomest and told us that he would get us anyway, but that we had to make up our minds quickly if we wanted to order from the regular menu before the limited late night menu kicked in. Big olé shout-​out to Bobcat who was congenial and attentive and who made our night.
We ended up with the Über sandwich and the burger, both were excellent and perfectly done. A beer for Hubbs and a cocktail for me and happy date night achieved!
The menu was different than I remembered, which means change, which I really enjoy when the food is as good as it is here.
