Open dance space that is lead by music thoughtfully chosen by a DJ whose intention is to create an opportunity for dancers to experience fun, joy, release, and ecstasy.
Ecstasy: Delight, joy, bliss, and rapture
Our intention is to offer safe space where people can experience joy through dance.
Ecstatic Dance ME is not teaching based. What we are offering is sacred space for you to practice, play, connect and explore movement in an environment that gives you permission to be with the truth of where you are at in the current moment. Greet, resist, push, struggle, surrender, cry, giggle, receive, release, wiggle, crawl, dance, pray, worship, journey, play, and… and…and…
History
Established in 2011.
Ecstatic Dance started in 2000 in Hawaii and was founded by Max Fathom. It is now world wide and Portland Maine is blessed to have a vibrant Ecstatic Dance community. Lea Moon started Ecstatic Dance in Portland ME in May of 2011 with one Sunday morning offering. We now offer two weekly dances along with classes, workshops, and retreats.
Ecstatic Dance is a conscious dance practice. This form of dance is offered within a sacred environment, facilitated by a DJ, and the music is intentionally chosen to support conscious dance. ~ sober ~ no conversations ~ barefoot

Meet the Business Owner
Lea M.
Business Owner
A passionate explorer of evolution and awakening, Lea has been practicing Conscious Dance for 14 years. The work of Gabrielle Roth planted a seed that continues to bear fruit.
Lea first began facilitating conscious dance in North Carolina in 2006 and expanded her work to the west coast from ’07-’09. She spent most of her time out west dancing, beach walking, and meditating. Since then, Lea has moved back to her home state and begun The Essential Dance and Ecstatic Dance Maine.
«Ecstatic Dance has carried me through my deepest grief, it has been a channel for my raging life force, it has been my lover, my god. It reminds me that this spirit that I am is embodied in flesh. It shuts up my endlessly chatty head, it rips away form and inspires enlightened creations. And after all these years it continues to amaze me with the ability to entice me out of my darkest places and usher me up to the heights of unity-consciousness, where I fall in love with all that is. «-Lea Moon
