EJP Events specializes in event planning for weddings, celebrations, and boutique corporate events, especially those with unusual or unique needs, themes, and ideas. We have 15+ years of planning experience and a background in the hospitality industry including restaurants, catering, and hotels. Clients love our focus on host and guest happiness, wow factors, and the successful implementation and realization of their ideas.

History

Established in 1999.

EJP Events started in 1999 after the owner completed several years in the catering and restaurant business in Austin TX. Owner Emee Pumarega ran the business while working at an upscale, 350-​room hotel as a catering manager and director of conference services. The business blossomed, and in 2002, EJP Events moved to Portland.

EJP found its Portland roots at The Bridal Loft, an award-​winning custom design studio in NE Portland, and soon assisted in creating many of the Bridal Loft’s signature events, such as The Bridal Loft Brunch.

In 2004, EJP Events was nominated for a Gala Award by Special Events Magazine (regarded as «The Oscars of Special Events») for «Best Wedding». In 2006 and 2007, EJP Events was voted «Best Wedding/​Party Planner» in Best of Citysearch, and in 2007 and 2008 was voted «Best Wedding Coordinator» by the readers of Oregon Bride Magazine.

EJP Events launched Portland Wedding Coordinator, now a top-​ranked wedding blog in Portland, in 2007.

Meet the Business Owner

Emee P.

Business Owner

Emee Pumarega has been planning events since her undergrad years at Yale. After her degree in biochemistry took her to Austin, Texas, she realized she’d rather cook delicious meals and plan parties than deal with volatile chemicals. She quit her research position to work at a Victorian mansion/​event venue as a caterer and party planner. That venue’s owners soon asked her to add wedding coordination to her duties.

After several years in catering, Emee expanded her knowledge of events and weddings to the hotel industry, working as Catering Manager & Director of Conference Services for an upscale, 350-​room hotel. She earned the Certified Meeting Professional designation, the most respected title conferred upon experts in the meetings and events industry.

In 1999, she began EJP Events, and has gone on to earn numerous awards and recognition for her work in the Portland event community.
