Elements Massage

Wow! Just had an amazing massage from Mackenzie. Super clean and quiet place. I’ll definitely be back.

I deal with a lot of neck and back issues and in the past only went for a massage when they flared up. A neck issue is what first led me to Elements. I got a great massage and signed up for their Wellness Program where I pay $ 59 a month for a 55 minute massage (if I don’t go that month the credit carries over or an associate member, in my case, my wife, can use it). This is a great deal and I’ve been getting monthly massages since. They also have very generous and flexible cancellation policy as twice conflicts arose and I was able to reschedule. The space is nice, clean and comfortable, the front desk staff very friendly. I go to Kelly who is awesome! Not only does she do a great job and ask every time what I need worked on but she’s super friendly and eminently professional. No skimping on the time either — 55 minutes is 55 minutes. There are plenty of options in Portland for massages and Elements definitely stands out among the best.

This was my very first time receiving massage therapy and I must say, my neck and cranial muscles feel like they did before I was injured in the Army.
Immediately upon arriving I was greeted warmly by the staff and offered tea and water while I filled out a medical history form. I think the receptionist sensed my nervousness and answered all my questions very kindly.
There was almost no wait at all, not that I would have minded as the lobby was quite peaceful. After about 3 minutes Kate came out and introduced herself warmly while giving a firm handshake, then led me back to the patient room.
She asked a few questions concerning my injury, including time frame and location, then proceeded to instruct me on how to position myself on the table. After giving me a few minutes of privacy to get undressed, she returned and confirmed that I was comfortable with the temperature of the table and volume of the music.
The massage itself was simply amazing. It took her all of 3 seconds to find the trigger points on my upper back and neck. A true master of her craft.
I fell asleep briefly. As I suffer from PTSD, this is absolutely remarkable! She inspired trust from the very beginning.
After the massage was concluded, she offered some nice menthol lotion for my neck and gave me a free sample to try at home, along with a bottle of water. Kate then instructed me to drink plenty of fluids, stretch the neck area that she worked on and to get a good nights sleep to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.
After Kate walked me to the lobby and said goodbye, I was once again greeted by the receptionists with huge smiles as they inquired about my experience. They then presented me with different options for future massages and was kind enough to print out a full page receipt for me to present to the VA for reimbursement before scheduling my next appointment.
Impressive. Very impressive.

Great massage! My BF and I came after getting a discount from another local business and we were hooked! We Mountain Bike on the weekends and really need the ‘body work’?
They have a great program that allows you a great price on a great massage, my BF and I are members, check it out, it’s a great deal!
Our favorites are Aaron and Penny. They get in there and work out the soreness and stiffness that life gives you. They are both really good at finding the tension and getting rid of it. I’ve had others and they were also very good.

My first massage in Portland and what luck! It was really great! I choose Penny from the list of therapists for her experience. She demonstrated a great sense of where the sore spots were and a skillful variety of techniques for handling them. Definitely a therapist’s therapist. I’ll be back with my back.
I liked the layout. It did not have the feel of a chain and did not feel overly ‘special’ or overly sterile — very comfortable, friendly and relaxed.
I am grateful for the experience.

First time visitors get a $ 50 discount on 1 ½ hour massage so I paid $ 79. Kelly did a great job. She likes the other staff… always a good sign. Good atmosphere, clean and friendly. Don’t like the pricing other than the first time. $ 129 for 1 ½ hours would keep me away.
Kelly did a great job as did all the staff. All my aches and pains vanished into pleasure.

I was skeptical about chain massage places, but was looking for a convenient place nearby for casual, relaxing massages. I got so much more!
Each of the therapists that I tried were professional and attentive, but once I had a massage from Heather I knew I had found The One for my massage therapy. Her structural integration massage techniques are amazing. I find that it addresses the underlying issues instead of just addressing symptoms. I leave there standing taller, breathing easier, and feeling relaxed and refreshed.

FEELIN GIDDY! Penny gave me an incredible massage – deep tissue with extensive stretching. I asked Penny to focus on my stiff neck and shoulders, constantly sore, probably due to thrills & spills on my mountain bike years gone by. Due to sports injury in my late 20’S, my right knee joint is now bone on bone, no meniscus with a chronically torn ACL. So my range of motion and flexibility is limited. My hips are not flexible.
I am 62. I work out regularly (hike, bike & gym), only 5 pounds over my target weight (too many happy hours)! I eat a real food, no processed /​pre-​kpackaged stuff, mostly organic – and drink good IPA. I do everything to minimize inflammation and pain.
Penny worked my tissues, muscles and joints thoroughly. She stretched me out! I couldn’t believe my range of motion and it felt so good, I did not want to stop after 2 hours. She worked my neck and shoulders well. I was really happy, feeling loose and actually feelin giddy.
The cheerful front desk was helpful – recommended Penny. Clean and comfy room – better than my expectations.

Below average massage but the location is so perfect for us Pearl dwellers that it’s worth checking out. This would be a good place for someone that’s looking to get a cheap massage on a regular basis and values convenience.

My massage was wonderful and I would definitely go back to Danyele. She really listened to my requests and gave me some good feedback on my muscles. She applied a soothing cream to my lower back where I was experiencing some pain, asking permission first.
The prices are competitive, slightly higher than Massage Envy, another membership company in the area. You do not have to be a member, however if you are not then you will be charged an exorbitant rate.
The business itself is clean and neat. The lobby is furnished in generic modern furniture, not overly comfortable if you are a plus size person. They have self serve water and complimentary tea available while you wait.
The vibe is all business, this goes for the décor and the receptionists. It’s not to say they are not friendly, because they are, however they are not warm or inviting.

I’ve had a headache for 24 hours now, tried everything and nothing helped so I setup an apt here. Kelly was my therapist and she was amazing. Best message I’ve ever had and I already feel so much better. What a wonderful experience.

I was walking by Elements on my way home from Safeway last week and just thought I’d stop in to see what they had to offer. I was just returning from a long 10 days of work travel that included 6 different flights with carry-​on bags. The massage was just what I needed and was surprisingly inexpensive ($ 49 for 55 minutes for the first massage and only $ 59 with a membership). Linda did a great Swedish massage, with just the right touch, and really listened to what I told her about my aches and pains. I started a membership and am looking forward to next time.

Sad to read a bad review of Elements because I came on here to rave about my experience. I went in originally not knowing what to expect, especially with such a good intro deal. Stephanie was my therapist and she was WONDERFUL. As a runner, I deal with a lot of IT issues, tight fascia, etc. Stephanie was attentive, professional, and a great resource of information. I highly recommend her and Elements… as for the negative review, I would suggest stronger communication. Some people don’t speak up if they need something worked on but with I always communicate during the session if necessary. While massage is relaxing, I go in to feel the long term effects of deep muscle tissue work… my soreness has dramatically decreased and I just wish I could go back more than the every 2 weeks I go.

I am sad because the amazing therapist Al has moved away and I will have to try another therapist (hopefully I won’t have to change my 5 star rating). I was very happy with Al and with Elements. I really appreciate that Al listened to my concerns and followed my requests to massage the areas that hurt like heck and stay the heck away from areas I don’t like touched.
This seems really hard for therapists to do: listen to what you want and change their routine to accommodate your individual quirks. I was never good about saying what I wanted more than once, so if they forget or started scourging or forgot I asked to focus on the sore hip, I was quiet and just sulked after, probably posted a bad Unilocal review:). I feel emboldened now to make sure I am clear about what I want in the massage, including the pressure.
This might sound weird unless you’ve had massages that left you bruised and sorry, then you’ll know what I mean.

The facility is nice and clean and the rooms are private, smell nice, and warm. I miss my sauna from the last place, but having a sauna makes a massage more expensive than I can afford on a regular basis and I appreciate that I can work in a massage once a month during my lunch hour (sometimes more if it’s a very good month). I liked it when they gave out water bottles and could do without the disposable cup of water since I feel obligated to sit and drink it quick and get out, but if that’s my only complaint I’m lucky!
I am hopeful the other therapists are as good and that they are valued employees who will stay with this clinic. I like the system a lot and hope it works for the therapists as well.

I went in today to use a promo they had online. The therapist was Stephanie, she read my intake form and asked me if my tension was in my knees?!, I wrote neck on the paper… I should have known then that it was going to be a disaster. After I explained again that my neck and lower back were the problem areas she said she was going to leave for a couple of minutes so I could undress. She came back almost 10 minutes later.
By that time my 4pm massage was well into 4.15p.
She started on the neck and the lower back, only staying there for like 15 minutes and then spent another solid 15 minutes on my knees! What the heck! I said my knees were ok, she didn’t even touch my feet or legs, just the freaking knees. After this, she went back to work on the neck for about 10 more minutes and that was it. Now the offer said the massage was 55 minutes…
Not only I will not come back to this location, I will also not recommend it.
Update: Tonight at 11pm I woke up with intense neck pain and a terrible headache. My skin is so tender to the touch in my shoulders and neck it hurts to lay on it. I will call tomorrow and let them know, this was a HORRIBLE experience.

Had my first massage here today via their pre-​season opening special. I am typically sceptical of these membership massage places, like Massage Envy, since the massage therapists seem to always either be new, inexperienced or transient. Well its too soon to know if they are transcient but my experiece with Penny today was wonderful. She was knowldgeable, friendly and exttremely profiscient. I will be joining. And their policy is one can share the membership or cancel with 30 day notice so no risk.
I have to commend the customer service as well. They called to remind me of an appointment which I couldn’t make so easily rescheduled and then I missed it. They did allow me to reschedule the missed appt at no charge which is unusual but I am sure won;t be a repeat occurance — still nice to be flexible my first time.
