I’m moving from a more traditional home to a contemporary condo and wanted to do away with the Persian rugs and bring some color and fun into my space. I fell in love with the colorful Cambium pattern in the catalog but going into the store and being able to see it up close and personal makes all the difference. They have patterns on the floor so you can lay out your choices and see what it will actually look like. Of course this being a big decision for me I tried a few different colors and patterns. The sales consultant was patient and made some alternative suggestions for me to consider. Ultimately I went back to what I thought I wanted in the first place. Cambium Geranium. They had a sale going on so I took advantage of it. I think the sales person was pleasantly surprised that I chose to buy that day given this was my first time in. She sent me home with a couple 6″ x 6″ samples to use as I’m making other decorating decisions since hauling around a 20″ sq. sample wouldn’t be practical.
They do not stock anything there which is disappointing but understandable given how many options there are. You have to pay for shipping ($ 32 for 32 squares) but given how much this stuff weights I wasn’t offended by the cost.
I placed my order on a Saturday. It shipped that Monday and arrived the following Monday. The boxes are extremely heavy but then again no heavier that an 8×10 Persian rug would be and so much more manageable since you can move the one square at a time if you need to. It much easier than wrestling with a whole rug.
Flor is not a luxurious Persian rug but then it’s a fraction of the price, more durable, environmentally friendly, fun and provides more flexibility. I like that I can pick it up and wash it if the cat gets sick on it. I bought 2 extra squares to have just in case.
I’d recommend it for contemporary spaces, for anyone with kids, pets or high traffic areas.

If you’re looking for soft and plush, this probably isn’t the place for you. But if you’re looking for unique, modern, durable, and eco-​friendly rugs where you can contribute to the design process, this is your place.
We have a Flor runner and have loved it for it’s sleek look and ability to withstand a dog and 2 toddlers. I came back here during their summer sale for some ideas on a dining room rug. Amy was profoundly helpful with my left-​brained, anti-​creative self. She seemed to be able to draw out my personality and style with just a few questions. Her suggestions were great, and she was also flexible to my cost considerations.

Having thrown out yet another lovely wool area rug after my dog turned it into toxic waste (apparently she has a bladder the size of a pea), we decided that Flor tiles would be the way to go if we ever hoped to have a area rug not stained with urine (I suppose this would work with kids as well).
I personally don’t care much for the Flor carpet squares themselves. The carpet is synthetic and feels like something akin to what you would find in a office building. Sturdy and thin, but not plush. On the other hand, beggars can’t be choosers. Its either a nice fancy rug with pee, Flor, or bare floors.
Protip– go to the store in the Pearl to pick out your carpet. They have many samples and the employee was very helpful in helping us pick out what we needed. I choose a nicer tile that ended up being $ 22 a square (cheap it is not). You pay for shipping (bummer), but can easily return excess tiles with no restocking fee if you purchase it in the store.
I’m still not completely sold on the whole Flor carpet as I think a nice area rug looks so much better, but I’m no longer worried about our pooch having a little mishap in the house.

Whatever you do don’t order anything from the website, I’m a Portland resident and the FLOR tiles I ordered are substantially different from the online description and they said to return them I’d have to pay a 15% restocking fee plus shipment back to Georgia (equalling over half the original price). I have gotten the feeling from their customer service that this is business as usual for them.

Great customer service! This was my favorite thing about this store. Todd, the manager, followed up, made sure I was aware of sales, assisted in picking out a product that would work well in the space I was working on and answered any and all questions I had. It’s a great product that you can order through the website but taking the time to go into the store is well worth it.

I love the concept of Flor. Individual carpet tiles let you design your own floor covering, and then redesign it later if you want to! You can literally pick up tiles and rearrange them, and when you move you can just bring them all with you! Plus, if one gets dirty you can stick it in the sink and wash it off, or just buy another one. For an average price of $ 14 a square, it’s worth it. I also like the eco-​friendly aspect of this idea. They use recycled materials, and let you recycle them when you are done. Apparently they also have a microbiological technology that helps protect them from issues associated with getting wet.
The associate who helped me was friendly and helpful at explaining the concept. He quickly and thoughtfully put together a project for me on the computer, and I left with a quote and feeling very positive about the experience. Although I haven’t actually purchased the product yet, it’s very likely I will in the future and I highly recommend looking into this option for your new carpet needs!
