Fred Meyer Marketplace

Checker Sunday at noon was surly AND incompetent… not a good combo. As usual selection and prices were very good for one location and I like this layout.

All Freddies are not made equally. I’ve stopped in a few times while in the neighborhood on other errands, and have always left a bit disappointed. It is dingier than my usual Fred Meyer. And the produce has been two leagues below what I get at my Freddies. I don’t know how this is possible, except that maybe the produce staff aren’t as active as at my Freddies, where they keep things constantly moving/​rotating. The atmosphere is also kind of gloomy. If you aren’t thrilled by this place, give Burlingame a try.

Avoid! The pharmacy is super slow and rude customer service! Go to the one on barbur blvd for much better service!

I was close by today and needed to run in for a couple of things and ended up having a fun time looking at the great assortment of Halloween items. The best part was I found the universal sink stopper I’ve been looking for everywhere. Not that I particularly love doing dishes, but once in awhile it’s nice to fill up the sink with water and not have it leak all out. Simple life, small pleasures on a perfect fall day!

I have a thing for routes. I hate doubling back in the way I just came, so I like to make a route of my daily errands.
I would make an amazing bus driver.
Anyway, my husband and I were out and about, and we remembered that we needed a few groceries before heading to a doctor’s appointment. My intense dislike of just going back the way I had come kicked in, and we found ourselves at this Fred Meyer.
Most Fred’s have an airy, open feel to them. Not this one. The ceilings are low, the lighting is dark, and I basically feel like I’m wandering through a basement most of the time.
One of the things we needed was a propane tank for our new grill. We asked to get one when we got there, and some dude assured us that they’d «have a guy» out in front to get one for us once we paid for everything else. I understand their need for keeping things safe and sans blowing up, so I went along with this policy. After we paid, the person at the checkout called someone in the Garden Center, and said that this guy would help us with the tank. Fine. We roll out of there, and the guy at the Garden Center says he is busy, but that he just called someone to come get us a tank. Okay.
Ten minutes go by, and we see someone in a Fred Meyer vest walking toward us. We smile gamely and say, «Hey, are you here to get us a propane tank?»
She doesn’t even make eye contact as she saunters by and says, «Nope. He can get one for you,» gesturing to the aforementioned Garden Center Guy. Still sauntering, she mutters that we need a tank to him, and he says, «Yeah, just take my keys and give ‘em one.»
Annoyed, she grabs the keys, does a magnificent eye roll, and makes her way back to us to open up the tank corral or whatever they store those things in. She has yet to really say anything to us, and then out comes another guy, who quickly takes in our looks of frustration, sees Vest Girl jamming the keys in the lock, and finally, finally, begins to hustle to us.
«Sorry,» he says, more to Vest Girl than to us. We have been waiting upwards now of twenty minutes. Vest Girl finally gets the keys to work, and grumbles to Late Guy, «Yeah, well, you’re a bit late, aren’t you?»
Late Guy must be getting some from Vest Girl because he wouldn’t stop groveling long enough to say boo to us. He literally just reached out to take my receipt to he could sign off on the tank, signed it, and went back to kissing red vested ass.
As Vest Girl was handing the tank to my husband, who, bless his heart, actually thanked her for it, she says, «Can you do something about Joey? He’s being a pill lately.»
Late Guy rolls his eyes and begins to answer, but we had had enough of their idiot quarrel and made our way out of there. I was incredibly frustrated with this complete lack of service to us. Yeah, I guess we got our tank eventually, but somehow, I felt like I was intruding on their day and interrupting their sterling conversation.
Routes be damned, I will not being going back.

Came in to buy stuff for a trip but didnt buy anything.
I happened to look at the eletronics and inquired about the flat screen TVs, which were reasonably price. Kenny approached me and showed me a TV that was in my budget and the best brand for the price i wanted to spend.

Closest Freddy’s to my house — but i’ve also been to Burlingame and the one west of 217. They are all nice, this one does not have clothing but they do have a wonderful garden and I’ve always been able to get what I needed there.

Really nice FM. Has a lot of stuff besides grocery, childcare spot for the kids and even fine jewelry in case you want something fancier than local organic on your grocery list.
I live nearby so this is my go-​to grocery store.

I have been shopping FM for years — since I was a kid and would go with my mom, actually.
this location is a good one — Peets coffee inside, fresh organic produce section, those cool new SMALL carts (they need more, please get more!).
I like to go early morning or late night — when it is not crowded. the hours are 7am to 11pm, so this is ideal.

I mean this in the most respectful way possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if this particular Fred Meyer store provided the bulk of Geritol’s profits in a given calendar year. Let me amend that: every calendar year.

When I think «Freddie’s,» this is the place I think of.
Fred Meyer has really moved itself up in the world, and since the recent (–ish) expansion, this place is even better. They have a great selection of cheese, wine, and beer, and their deli is nothing to be sneezed at. The food and produce are all good, and their selection on the non-​food items is good, too. Prices are competitive, but the good stuff is never cheap.
I’m glad they lost the Freddy Fall-​Apart crappy clothes (my friends & I used to joke about FFA junk our mothers would sometimes buy for us). The overall quality is good, and the prices are reasonable.
If you live nearby, you really ought to shop here – even though Fred Meyer was bought out by a national chain (Kroeger’s) some years ago.

This Freddie’s Marketplace is NOT closed!!! Au contraire — yesterday’s SUPER school supplies extravaganza (read two elementary school girls aka must-have-exactly-what’s-on-my-teacher’s-list) puts this Freddie’s back on my fave list. We found everything on the list and with the sweet little goldenrod-​colored rectangular ‘Froupons’ (BOGO) walked away with a decent haul and the knowledge that my d-​i-​l was not going to have to head back out after a hard day’s work to hunt for the odds ‘n ends we didn’t find.
Sure, we were pooped after our late morning excursion. BUT went home fully armed with the knowledge that the lunch items we purchased at the same time from the same place (it’s a Freddie after all) would soon revive us.
Love Freddie’s!!! And this one fits the bill for this small community.
