Great friendly service, plain boring sandwiches. The price was fine and size was generous, but it is not somewhere I plan on coming back to.

Such a great place. Excellent sandwich and it came on a perfect roll. The couple who own the place are super nice and care about their customers.

Does Quizno’s still exist? These are Quizno’s subs by any other name, except with more limited ingredients. That’s ok by me, but the food is solidly 3 stars. The 4^th star, and maybe it should be 400 stars, is for the fact that Gene’s has a small cordoned off room-​let with slot machines, restricted to the 21 and older crowd. What?! I mean, WHAT?! It’s a sub shop. That just about killed me. Also, it appears there’s non-​submarine sandwich food on special (fried noodles with pork and veggies today for instance). There’s ample parking, as this is a strip mall, and the sandwiches are pretty inexpensive.

OMG STILL THE BEST EVER. and the owners are super nice! I work next door and they will bring me sandwiches when ever we get busy. The Food is always amazing and I recommend them to everyone! It really is the best place to get a sandwich

John and his wife have continued to make this toasted submarine sandwich shop prosper and thrive in a little commercial strip for quite a few years, so it was explained. A good variety of sandwiches that are anchored on fresh breads with tasty ingredients. Quick, flavorful and satisfying. Add a bag of chips and you are at about $ 7. Daily noodles are worth a try as well.

I am just going to agree with everyone else here on this one. The couple are really nice, the video poker area is kinda wierd, the sandwitch is filling and at a fair price.
I got the regualr size Super Club but next time I go there will try another kind of sandwitch, they all look so good.
The place is not easy to spot and you will pass right by it if you are not looking for it. I would rather give my money to a mom and pops place before a chain any day, give them a try.

The sandwiches here are incredible!!! I’ve been going here for the past ten years ! The couple that own the place are so nice and put in the extra effort to making each sandwich as good as the last! The bread is pure heaven, toasted to perfection. The place doesn’t look all that fancy but trust me, it’s nothing short of luxurious!!! Enjoy

Really satisfying and CHEAP sandwich option. The owners are friendly and the food is fresh. A great lunch or simple dinner option.

We didn’t realize they were just about to close and they still welcomed us in. We ordered 3 sandwiches. They were both super kind, the gentleman even gave us some free drinks since my friend wanted to play the video poker and it was out of order, eventhough he didn’t complain. All 3 of the sandwiches were fresh, delicious and hearty. I will definitely be stopping by the next time I am in the area. We were sorry for stopping in so late but really glad they didn’t turn us away it was a much needed yummy treat!

Really good! The wheat bread is delicious. Best sandwich I’ve had in a while. Very filling and fresh. Nice couple owns it.

My wife and I just got done grabbing lunch from Gene’s and we will be repeat customers. I got the super club after being told it was the most requested sandwich on the menu. I was not disappointed. The bread was nice and toasted and it was made the way I like it. Just enough mayo so that it isn’t over powering, but you know it is there. My wife got the honey mustard chicken sandwich and said the same about her dressing. That tells me that you always get the same great quality every time!

Nothing special but better than subway. The video lottery section is sort of weird?

Delicious tuna melt sandwich. Considering I’ve never been here before, and I work down the street. … I’ll be back for sure!

I love this place! The owner’s are very sweet and start to remember your order once you become a repeat customer. I usually get the Super Club (ham, turk, bacon +olives) and it’s always very very tasty.
They just started serving a pork noodle dish (chow mien) and it’s also verrrrry good. It comes in small and regular and both come in very ample portions.
I work up the street so, I go at least once a week. YUM

Ok so this place is a step above quiznos (very similar type menu with toasted subs). You can get a very limited selection of beers there (limited). And you can gamble… Staff seemed very friendly.

Considering I eat at Gene’s Deli on average three times a week I am a shocked that I haven’t yet written a review. This place is great for a fast lunch and to catch up on your Portland Mercury reading. The sandwiches cost around 5 – 6 dollars for a regular and you can get white or wheat rolls. They have all sorts of combinations but I tend to stick to the turkey based ones as opposed to the chicken. They toast their sandwiches which always come out with the cheese perfectly melted. I like their pickle bar, and am a strong advocate of free refills on soda. The only weird thing about this place is the video crack section for all the people who like toasted sandwiches while they gamble. It isn’t that obtrusive, just kinda odd in that it is the first place I have seen gambling machines outside of a bar, although Gene’s does serve some beer in bottles. You will see me here often and repeat business says more than any review really can.

I like this place. Yes, part of a strip-​mall, but the owners are nice and charming. They make good sandwiches and don’t skimp. I like the vegetarian. Not your average cold, lettuce-​filled sandwich. Toasted, with fresh mushrooms and avocado.
