Gabrielle H.

Business Owner

After relocating to Tokyo, Japan; Gabrielle experienced Japanese makeup & hair stylists in high-​end runway shows including: Louis Vuitton, as a dancer/​model. These artists inspired her to join the beauty industry after returning to the United States in 2007.

Upon completion of her cosmetology schooling in Spring Lake, Michigan; she began a journey of beauty at Donaylle Nicole Hair Studio. It was here where Gabrielle received a great deal of continuing education.

Since her move to the Pacific NW in 2010, Gabrielle has swiftly achieved recognition as one of the few top makeup & hair stylists in Portland, OR. Within the Pacific NW Gabrielle has worked with salons such as, New Vintage Beauty Lounge and Bessie Day Salon. The overall continuing education with leading companies such as, Vidal Sassoon, Mac Cosmetics, Kevin Murphy, Oribe, and Aveda; has given her the tools necessary to go out on her own as a freelance artist.

Gabrielle’s work has also been published online.

When you see a quality glamor photo what you think you’re looking at a good photo of incredibly beautiful model. What you are actually seeing is a creative collaboration between a model, a photographer and a stylist/​makeup artist. There’s a reason you never see people in those images in real life — the truth is they don’t actually exist.
Gabrielle does mild to wild. And as a model herself, she understands what is needed before and during a photo or video shoot. And having her on set to make tweaks throughout the shoot is an absolute necessity if you’re looking for perfection (or as close as you can get).
During the shoot she was doing makeup and hair tweaks. I didn’t really realize how many SIGNIFICANT hair tweaks she was making (she did them while I was fooling with lighting or the camera, etc.), but the end result is a far greater variety of looks that made a tremendous difference over the body of work.
