Gladstone Street Pizza

We visited this location at 10pm on a Thursday night. I would say the server was friendly when she came around, it’s just she didn’t come around that often. But what you really need to know is that the pizza is very good. We ordered an 18″ Pepperoni and Italian Sausage. The dough is nice and light with a slightly sweet taste and the sauce compliments the dough well. I would visit again on my next trip to Portland. This restaurant is in a location where only the locals would know about it, parking can be tricky but worth the walk.

This place is just like that scene in the Wizard of Oz where scarecrow get disemboweled by the sheer deliciousness of the pizza. Staff is awesome, drinks are stiff, and the owner looks just like some actor I don’t remember who but he was in a Star Trek episode and got with Troi.

New to this ‘hood; needed pizza… Asked my next door neighbour where to go and he said Gladstone St. Pizza. So yum. Big pies at a good price. We’ve only gotten take-​out so far but the restaurant looks great too.

Recommended by a friend to try their secret go to pizza place… and they are RIGHT– this place is awesome. Friendly staff and nice variety of menu items. There are a lot of small plates to share, and a large variety of beer/​alcohol.
We had the vegetable plate with our medium pizza and it was way too much food for two– but of course, we polished it off cause that’s what we do.
Pizza crust has enough tooth and not too thin. You choose the pizza sauce and size, and then select your toppings. Any place that offers anchovies as a topping is a true pizza shop. We loved our meal and had a great time. Music was pretty darn good too.
Going back for sure!!!

The Tricolor pizza is so delicious!!! The service is always warm and welcoming. The shrub sodas are so tasty. I’m there almost weekly. :)

Best pizza in Portland… Try their Greek pizza… pesto based… Pine nuts… Kalamata Olives… Sun dried tomatoes… Chèvre goat cheese … Too awesome!

I had given up on eating pizza in Portland since moving here from Philadelphia. What used to be my favorite food was turning into disappointment after disapointment as I tried all the most popular pizza shops in town. Last night I went to Gladstone, and had a wonderfully delicious pizza. I ordered the Tri-​Colour, which had basil, chevre cheese (goat cheese), and Mama Lil’s peppers. I love goat cheese on pizza, it adds a wonderful creamy sweetness that was perfectly offset by the tangy kick of the peppers (these peppers would be stellar on a hoagie — please make hoagies, Gladstone). The crust of the pizza was pefect, it was simultaneously chewy and crunchy as all good crusts should be. Thank you for giving me a wonderful taste of east-​coast style pizza!

This restaurant has some excellent pizza (ALMOST Apizza Scholls status). But, it also has a great atmosphere and some exceptionally sweet and attentive staff. I’m very excited to have this place in my neighborhood.

Pretty good pizza. We get it carry-​out. The doughy crust reminds me of East Coast pizza, but sometimes I think there’s too much cheese. I love the chef salad with all the pickled veggies and olives, I just wish it came in a small too because it’s huge for one person!

Oregon is known for many things: Craft beer, local farm to table fare, insufferable hipsters, bikability, and dogs who resemble their owners to a comical degree. Pizza, unfortunately is not one of these things. This New Yorker has always been disappointed by Portland pies, crispy to the point of unfoldability (it’s a thing) with insipid, doughy crust. Finally! I have found a place which lives up to NYC standards. Only whole pies, but honestly is a pizza desert like Portland, no one can sell by the slice. Go here. Now!
Ps: the house habanero vinegar sauce was perfect! Not too spicy, but the vinegar brought out the tomato flavor. They have drinks too, and a good music selection playing.

My favorite pizza place in Portland.
No claims of being a pizza connoisseur, and I’m not from New York.
But this is some consistently delicious pizza with consistently hipster servers. Mismatched vintage thrift store clothing, trendy thick eyebrows (on fleek!), glasses with oversized plastic frames from the 80s, the whole nine.
Good ambience, cool mural on the wall, indie bands on the playlist.

My girlfriend and I love this place and have been several times noe. The back patio is cozy and a perfect place to relax and have a pizza and beer on a Saturday evening. We don’t have kids, but it’s nice that it’s family friendly on the main side. There is totally separate bar area with street art inspired décor with loud music for those into that vibe.
The pizza is outstanding with fresh ingredients and a well balanced crust with the smoke and flavor of their stone oven. The service is prompt, friendly, and attentive. The salads, while simple, are well dressed and fresh. When we have guests visiting Portland, this will be one of our go to spots!

I love this pizza place. They are by far one of the tastiest places for pizza near me. I love the patio during spring/​summer. The Ceasar salad dressing is fresh and taste is on point. The server recommended a single large salad for the four of us and she was right, the salad is huge! When I think of pizza I think fast and quick. This was not fast food Domino’s style pizza. It was gourmet pizza made with fresh ingredients and the sauce did not overwhelm the flavors. I love love love it!

This is by far the best pizza joint in Portland! The pizza has never fluctuated in quality and the ambiance, staff and comfort level there are all wonderful! I love it when a spot has local beer on draft and when I mean local, I mean from right down the way! Baerlic and The Commons on draft with amazing food, it’s a match made in heaven aka SE Portland.

Excellent pizza, delicious drinks and great atmosphere. The bartenders and servers are really friendly and play great music! Two thumbs up!

This was down the street from my place in Portland. There are a lot of great places to get pizza in PDX but this tops my list. As suggested on the menu, this is not pizza you want a lot of toppings on– two or three toppings will make a great pie! Since it is not located in an exceptionally busy area it does not get as much attention as many others but I would say that adds to the charm.

The pizza was good even though the pepperoni tasted a bit like bologna. The sauce and the Italian sausage were tasty… The crust was excellent ! A variety of music was played which was good but one raunchy song turned me off.

Their Chocolate Pot de Crème is so, so good. Yummmm. I would go back just for that every single day if my waistline would allow. Their Caesar salad is amazing! I also tried one of the Antipasti trays, which included a variety of Marinated, & Pickled Veggies, Olives, Focaccia Bread, EVOO with Balsamic Vinegar. It was very good, except the pickled veggies were a wee bit too spicy for me. Others ate them happily! My loss, their gain. My sweetie had the Meat combo Pizza, which has Canadian Bacon, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, and he added roasted garlic and sweet onions. Yeah, he was in heaven. The servers and clientele are fun and friendly. Overall, LOVED it!

We’ve never had to wait here, and sometimes have gone during peak dinner hours. The bar area is where we usually sit. I mainly like to go here for their desserts and coffee drinks or hot cocktails (One of the girls made me a pretty mean Bloody Mary too!)
The only thing I’ve noticed, and my only complaint, is that the pizza can be a little soggy in the middle sometimes. That being said, they have a good variety of toppings with some unique ones thrown in (stuff that you couldn’t get at your run-​of-​the-​mill pizza delivery place), Chevre, Pine Nuts, Kalamata Olives and Arugula to name a handful (also, their roasted garlic is actual whole cloves of roasted garlic, not minced, which I loved).
They have board games too, Battleship or Scattergories while you’re sipping your cocktail and eating your salad?! I’m a dorky kid inside so yes, I dug this!
The patio has a great, intimate ambiance, great for actually having a conversation with who you’re with (the whole place really).
Side note that I almost forgot, they usually have a great variety of music playing, from old soul stuff, to rock, to jazz covers, to Dylan, I always love listening to their eclectic mixes when I’m there.
This place is a definite go to for a relaxing atmosphere to kick back and have a good time at. Keep on keeping on Gladstone Pizza!

This was the perfect pick for my low key birthday dinner. We were there around 7 on a Saturday night and had the pizza side pretty much to ourselves, couldn’t see how busy the pub side was. They had something for everyone. Vegetarian, sensitive stomach, loves spicy, hates spicy… you get the idea. Everyone left very satisfied.
The prices were high, but the pizza was good so I didn’t feel cheated. Unfortunately the high prices will still keep me from coming here often. There are just too many other spots that are more reasonably priced and just as good or close enough. However, the atmosphere was really nice for a group to chat, enjoy eating, and have an all around good time.
The service was great, our server was really nice and none of the food took too long. I liked the thin crust and the level of crispiness. I split a large pizza and we both had lots to take home. My only complaint is the small meat plate we got as an appetizer. It was tiny, really didn’t excite my eyes or stomach much either. I mean, you can’t go too wrong with salty cured meats but there was hardly any difference between the 3 meats (flavorwise) and the 4 small slivers of bread were not enough to balance.
All said I really enjoyed Gladstone Street Pizza and hope to be back someday. It will definitely be in a group setting when I’m feeling flush.

Nice quiet dark ambiance. Decent service. Sat on bar side. Large Caesar salad was excellent, perfect size for two, and not overly anchovies flavor. We had a large half «for the house» and half Italian sausage, mama peppers, pineapple which was awesome. Ann (my fiancé) said best pizza in Portland. Very Italian like crust and red sauce. Light cheese. Had to request parm cheese. Excellent rotating draft beers and large Italian wine and alcohol choices. Little pricey at $ 5/​beer, $ 24 large pizza, and $ 8 large salad, but overall worth it. We’ll go back definitely.

4 stars. B+ tasting pizza. Got a large pizza and it was pretty good. What kept it from being a 5/​A was that the bottom had a thin but noticeable black/​burned layer, and the dough seemed to be slightly rubbery. But I don’t want to give the wrong impression, since these weren’t that serious.
As far as cost, it was kind of expensive (upper 20s). Also, I liked their selection of microbrews and the chill SE Portland atmosphere.

Pizza here is always excellent. Sicilian style/​wood-​fired, cracker crust, toppings are fresh and high quality. We always get For The House — Italian Sausage, Sweet Onion, & Fresh Arugula, 25.00 for 18″ so that we can take half of it home. We each have two slices and split a small Cesar. With drinks and tip, $ 48 date night with enough leftovers for another meal. We make it here about once a month. The non-​alcoholic options are good for me and my sweetie is says he absolutely loves their Negronis.
Love the friendly, funny staff. It’s a family-​run establishment where a Dad (John) and his two lovely daughters run the place along with other wonderful folks. John’s wife, Grace, asked the amazing Venice-​based female muralist (killer graffiti mural along the entire wall in the pizza lounge) just before she finished if she could «do Tupac» at the end of the hallway in a frame. She finished it in 30 minutes using ALL spraycans as brushes, so with the rest of her fabulous work.
This is our kinda pizza place, for all seasons!!! You really can’t go wrong with whatever you get here. It’s cozy in the winter and in the summer, there’s café-​style seating out front and covered seating in the back. I suppose you can sit out back because it’s covered in fall and spring but who wants to when the inside is so cozy?

As neighborhood pizza joints go, Gladstone Street Pizza is near the top of my list. While it may not be the best I’ve ever had, these guys make a solid pizza and have a convenient location that keeps me coming back for more.
GSP makes a thin crust pizza that can’t really handle being piled high with toppings. Don’t expect a ton of sauce. I highly recommend the Greek pizza (pesto, kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes, goat cheese), but you really can’t go wrong with any of their pre-​assembled pizzas.
While I most often do carry out, I try to make an excuse to eat in their back patio during the summer. It’s one of the most relaxing spots I know for a casual meal (or even just a drink).
Gladstone Street Pizza does a lot of things right. While I wouldn’t necessarily recommend going out of your way to dine here, I highly recommend it if you’re in the area.

Gladstone Street v. Apizza Scholls. Epic dilemma.
I had to take this pizza apart in my mind a few times to really figure it out. I’d just been to Apizza Scholls a few days prior.
Crust:
Similar to Apizza Scholls. Less crunch on the outside, more fluffy, less chewy. Bottom was perfect.
Sauce:
Not as acidic as Apizza Scholls. Sweet and salty at the same time. Very basic, but good.
Toppings:
I was a bit disappointed that their margherita didn’t have traditional toppings of fresh tomato and sliced mozzarella. It was very good, but it was just sauce, shredded mozzarella and basil chiffonade. The pepperoni was very fresh and much different from Apizza’s.
Next day leftovers: Still good, even cold. Just sayin’.
Both Apizza Scholls and Gladstone have a bar/​lounge area, and a separate «restaurant» area. The vibe at Gladstone is preferable and more laid back. There are board games and books to keep you entertained while you wait for your pizza.
Gladstone is also cheaper and they offer a Unilocal check in deal.
They also don’t have a pizza with slices of bacon on top, so there’s that.

It’s been just pizza, no coffee shop, for a few years now, and the consistency of their pies is still there, so good. Also love the house-​made pickles, a perfect starter for any pizza meal.
Quality cocktails from the St Pizza Lounge side, with a ton of local hooch featured. Lovely outside area, rad tunes, and the fabulous Jules Muck murals inside. It’s a casual, no BS place, the menu is straighforward, and the owners are rad.
