I have been coming to Hair Studio One for almost three years, although only to get trims in my hair and get my eyebrows done every other week. I have to say that the quality of their eyebrow waxing much trumps the other local options. You say«thick»(the way I like them) and they just clean up your natural shape. Perfect! At $ 8 for the wax, plus tip, it is an affordable habit to keep. Likewise, I’ve seen the haircuts they give and they really do an excellent job. Their space is very clean. I’ve also recieved one pedicure there that looked really great. I trust the quality of their work. They lose one star solely based on a recent experience in hair color. Their prices say«$ 25 and up» but when I called and said how much it would be for color, they said the bottom price is $ 45. It’s true because I took a family member there to color her hair and they charged her $ 45, and no styling to boot. Prices advertised should be the prices honored. I would recommend Hair One Studio for anyone in S.E. Portland looking for a cheap, great hair cut or wax.

My mom always went here and raved about how great it was, service wise and price wise, but I am the type to always be skeptical about such a good deal. However, my sister caught on the bandwagon and wanted to take me here to treat me to a much needed haircut. Its an easy place to drive by and miss, it doesn’t stand out and looks kinda sketch, not only because its off of Foster but also because its a house. But once you get inside, you are pleasantly surprised to see a very clean and modern business with nice hardwood floors. It was nice and sunny and let a lot of light in. Also, an additional plus was that although it is a nail salon too, it didn’t have that strong«nail salon» smell, if you know what I mean… My sister was getting a pedi done and I sat down for a haircut. I had low expectations so I kind of gave a gruff description of what I wanted but the lady seemed to get the drift of what I was saying. In the end, she did an AMAZING job. She was able to keep the length I wanted as well as style my hair. I was very pleased. She also suggested I need my eyebrows waxed, which I unfortunately could not deny(they were getting mad scientist-like). We went to the back room and it was done in a jiffy. My spectacular hair cut AND eyebrows cost only $ 23! I was blown away. This will be my official new go to place when I come back into town. TELLALLYOURFRIENDS!!!

Great for guys! Especially those who hate spending an hour to get a simple hair cut and dread awkward conversation. Just walked in the door maybe 30 minutes ago, got a cut, and am now home writing this review. I was very unsure of this place at first. The building is an old house and the«service» — ala Subway’s «welcome to Subway» to every single customer that comes in — was kind of lacking. But, the SERVICE was phenomenal. Jenny, a friendly woman with a thick(Vietnamese?) accent greeted me with«how are you? Haircut? Number?» referring to the number for the clipper comb length I wanted. That always makes me nervous. I have had too many cuts from people who don’t respect the power of the clippers and they just zip off all my hair with them. I asked«how much?» and she said«$ 7.00.» That made me even more nervous(my band has a big show tonight so there’s no room for jacked hair), but luckily I’m cheaper than I am anxious, so I sat down in the chair. She grabbed the clippers and dove in. My first reaction told me that this was somebody who didn’t respect the clippers… but wait. She was lightning fast AND good. Wow, that’s new for me. Jenny is a hair technician. She just got down to business, cut it the way I like it(with barely any instruction but following closely the instruction I gave) and had me out the door in 15 minutes. It was like I’d walked into some kind of style tornado and was left shocked and confused about where I was and why I looked so good… for $ 7.00(I tipped her very well). Yes, I will be back. And I will now get my haircut every month like a normal person instead of every 2 – 3 months. THANKYOUJENNY!

I had been in need of a cut for the last 6 months and also moved away from my stylist in LA… I didn’t want to go to just anybody, especially since I have major curly hair. Read the reviews for Hair Studio One, called to ask if they could take me right away, and the woman said yes(I live close). When I got there I was greeted by Lisa the owner(also the only person at the salon). She had me get comfortable in the chair, asked me some initial questions about how I like to wear my hear, etc… and then she proceeded to use a razor first on my hair(HALLELUJAH! SHEKNOWSWHATSHE’S DOING!!! THANKYOUGOD!)). I knew then, that I was in great hands. She shaped my layers, thinned out my thick hair, razored some pieces, did a few trims here and there… and done! Loved the shape she gave to my curly hair all while keeping my original long length. I am so happy with the cut! It’s similar to the euro-modern cut I got once when visiting Buenos Aires. Lisa is your girl– she’s owned the salon for 9 years and has other girls on staff… I HIGHLYRECOMMENDLISA! Thank you Thank you! $ 15 plus tip well spent!

What you need for a good price. Hubby gets his hair cut and I get my brows waxed. I tried being thrifty and got a brazillian(something I’ve been getting done for 2 years) there… the experience was not good. I’ll save you the gory details and just say that I’ll spend the $$ at Urban Waxx to not have to assist the waxer. Pros: Good prices. Easy walk-in. Cons: Some of the girls are still inexperienced.
