What a great service to the neighborhood. It is awesome that this goes year round. There is a good mix of veggies, baked goods, cheeses, meats and cured foods though much smaller than the downtown PSU saturday market. Only a couple of prepared food vendors but there are the food carts around the corner as well. It is great that the school playground is right there fro the kids on a sunny day.

Good variety of vendors and prices for fresh fruits and produce. They had some meat and savory tents available but the lines were far too long for a couple of them so I skipped. I particularly enjoyed the many fruit vendors and will definitely return!

Great farmers market w/​friendly vendors. Delicious berries and fun herb choices. They have some «stuff» for sale but a good amount of fruit and veggies, meat, fish and herbs so you don’t feel like you are more at a craft fair than a farmers market. Nice low key vibe.

This farmer’s market doesn’t allow dogs. Sure, service animals are allowed, but not run of the mill dogs. This makes little sense as it’s in the middle of a neighborhood.
When I asked why they don’t allow dogs I was told it was due to a few «incidents.» No details were provided and despite the fact that our dog was clearly well behaved. No exceptions were allowed.
All in all, I’ll not be shopping here any time soon. There are several other farmer’s markets nearby that I’ll be happy to wander about with my dog.

This is a really nice, small market out in Hillsdale, near Wilson High School. Showing up early Sunday morning meant no waiting for tamales from Salvador Molly’s and plenty of samples of fresh fruit and vegetables. We bought smoked salmon (worth the money), yellow watermelon, heirloom tomatoes (out of this world), peaches, and plums. We spent a good amount of money but everything was well worth it.
The parking is a little funny so go around the back of the school to park along the street or in the small lot next to the market.

By far one of the best farmers markets I’ve been to. I used to live by PSU and went to that one all the time, but it tends to be crowded and noisy. This one is just lovely.
I bought a ton of veggies for a great value and grabbed some breakfast on the go.
The only critique I have for this market is that the parking signs aren’t clear. But I’m not going to dock stars because of that.

Love this market and love shopping local. Great fresh fruit and veg, mushrooms and beautiful fresh flowers.
The atmosphere is always friendly and the kids enjoy tasting samples at the market and then playing on the climbing frames at the park.

One of the best things about my recent move to SW PDX was going to this farmers market. Not to terribly large, as others have pointed out, but large enough to get a wide variety of different meats, fruits, vegetables, honey, and mushrooms. There are a few food carts in the market, but not many. Fortunately, you can hit Smaaken for breakfast or grab the wood fired pizza there for lunch.
It is in the Wilson HS parking lot, and it can get a bit cramped, but I haven’t had an issue getting a spot.
The front of the market has tokens that can be purchased with a credit or debit card, and change is given by the vendors in cash. This is convenient, as I don’t have to pay a fee and I don’t have to rely on the vendors taking a card.
The meat selection is pretty good, and my wife and I got a few NY steaks there. Grilled them that night and they were awesome! While I would like to take some credit with my cooking wizardry, it really comes down to the steak being great. I may have to dry age a few and see how those turn out.
They are also open year round, so I think there will be many visits by my wife and I to this place. If you are in the SW area of PDX and you don’t want to fight the crowds at PSU, this is a nice little stop.

I was visiting friends nearby and we heard about the big famer’s market in Portland that we needed to go to. I heard it was huge and crowded and am SO glad we came to this little market instead. We got everything we needed and it was not crowded at all. There were long lines for some of the vendors (like that blackberry vendor — everyone in line bought whole flats of monster blackberries — yum). I forget the name of the vendor, but we got the biggest, sweetest peaches ever here. Stop by and get some!
Of note — service dogs only, can’t bring your pets. We had to leave our dog outside, which was no big deal, just be aware. :)

So so good. I’m so happy to live so close to such a wonderful farmer’s market. Come join us on a Sunday, you won’t be disappointed.

I knocked off a star cause prices are on par with grocery stores… shouldn’t the customer get a break for cutting out the middle man?

Broad selection of quality produce and meats from local producers, without the «cultural events» that accompany similar markets in Downtown Portland and Overlook Park. The selection is truly seasonal, with the best range of veggies and fruits in early fall and meats in late spring. There are also a few services offered on an infrequent basis, such as blade sharpening by the venerable Ivan the Harrible.
If I have one complaint with the market, it’s that it’s too late in the day for my tastes… what kind of farmer doesn’t get going until 10 AM? At that time of day on Sunday during the weeks the market is open, I’m usually out of town enjoying the sunshine and scenery. (The hours probably say more about their customers than the vendors)
Note: If you come from the Vermont side, parking is especially easy, while I’ve found coming in from Hillsdale to be an exceptionally good way to practice your patience.

This is the closest farmers market to us and I love it. It’s not as crowded and they have good variety of vendors from vegetables, fruits, honey, to bakeries. I also like the fact they have parking lot for this market. No more headaches of trying to find parking like the one in downtown.
It’s not as big as the one at PSU, but if you are just need to make purchases of your vegetables, fruits, bread, eggs, organic meat, this market will be your best friend. No crowd to fight, no rude moms with strollers, just get in and get out. My kind of place.

The Hillsdale Farmer’s Market has a nice mix of high quality produce, baked goods, fish and elk, colourful Portlandia locals, and drizzle. It’s located at Wilson High School and when it was in full swing last Sunday, parking space was at a premium. Of course, if I lived here, I’d probably walk, bike, or take the bus here.

The Hillsdale Farmers’ Market is like our church. It’s the most wonderful place to spend a Sunday morning! We love the community aspect of it (we regularly run into other market-​goers week in and week out) and the great selection of vendors.
Some favorites are Gathering Together Farm (get there early of they’ll sell out!), Tastebud for sandwiches on wood-​fired bagels and Savory et Sweet for crepes, both of which usually feature market-​fresh veggies and fruit.

I just visited the Farmers Market this weekend and it was A LOT of fun! Although a small farmers market the product and plant selection is fabulous, the atmosphere is totally energetic, and the food vendors are top notch!
It’s easy to lose yourself for a couple of hours. The farmers market is nestled up against Rieke Elementary School which has a nice grassy knoll which makes it easy to buy some tamales, pizzas or crepes, some drinks and get comfortable on the grass, eat and relax. Now imagine that with a sunny, warm day and its priceless!
there are lots of families at the market, and since I have kids I can’t help but let them roll down the grassy hill or spending some time at the school’s playground.
For a neighborhood farmer’s market, I wholly recommend it. You can pick up your weeks produce, as well as fresh fish, jams, honey and even meats! Spend an afternoon lounging in the sun, sometimes there’s even live music. Generally its a great Sunday morning and/​or afternoon!

Open year round!!!
From May-​November the market is open weekly while December-​April it is every other Sunday. Being open year-​round sets this market apart from the majority that go into hibernation during winter.
Even though the farmer’s market is rather small-​to-​medium-​sized, there’s quite a variety of vendors. There are places selling nuts, root vegetables, leafy vegetables, fruits, jams, pies, cheeses, eggs, meat (I avoid these booths), vinegar, salsas, vegan soups, flowers, citrus trees, huckleberry bushes, grains, beans and crepes. There’s a knife-​sharpener who’s set up shop in the back of the two rows of vendors.
The prices are very reasonable. One vendor has the most delicious apples and pears for 99 cents a pound. Another sells kiwis, 4 for $ 1. Even if the prices are on par with Whole Foods or New Seasons, the quality is far superior. Kale from the grocery store lasts maybe two days in the fridge whereas the kale I purchased from the market lasted about a week and a half. It also tasted better. As did the kiwis and the carrots and so on.
I move around plans in order to come every two weeks in winter when it’s open because nothing beats fresh, locally grown veggies. I try to go early (It’s open 10 – 2) because around 11 or noon I hear vendors start to say, «I can’t believe I’ve already sold out of _​_​_​_​_​_​_​.» Even though there’s still plenty to buy, it is definitely worth getting there as soon as possible.
It takes place at a high school so there is plenty of parking, even though it’s a little narrow and awkward.

It’s great that there’s a farmers’ market nearby. Fresh fruits and veggies, oh my.

It’s not a big market; it’s in a high school parking lot. That’s not bad though– makes it easier to decide who to buy from.
I just happened to be there on the 4^th of July– they were giving out ice cream and berry sundaes! How about them app… er…berries?

The Hillsdale Farmer’s Market is awesome, while i never PLAN a trip here i often find myself here with just enough time before work to poke around.
It’s true this isn’t a huge farmer’s market, i would say it is small to medium sized compared to others i have been too. Despite that, you can find almost anything you could want here.
Though i think the cast of Booths changes slightly from one week to the next, frequent vendor presences include Fraga Farms Goat Cheese, a wood stove fired bagel stand, Gathering Together Farms, Deep Roots Farm, and a mushroom stand that sells morels, chantrelles, white truffles and sometimes fern fiddleheads depending on what is in season. There are usually cheese vendors, a meat vendor or two, bakery stands, farm stands, orchard stands, and fish stand. You can find jams and salsas, roasted local filberts, pies and tamales. It is really a wide and well rounded variety of food. There are even a few live plant stands for flowers and produce starts.
Its a great place to people watch too, you’ll see families with cute kids running around, hot Portland hipsters, hippies, old couples, and happy looking dogs. Hillsdale’s market is a microcosmic Portlanducopia, if you will.
