Came here on an early Saturday afternoon. Service was great(my husband even had me tip a bit extra because he thought the waitress was really good) and food came out fast and hot, what more could you ask for.

I’ve biked by this place hundreds of times on my way home from work, and have always been a fan of their beer, but this is the first time I’ve actually stopped in to eat. It was thoroughly disappointing. The beer and pretzel sticks were good. Probably some of the other appetizers and more typical bar food would be good as well. But everything else we had was flavorless and borderline bad. The kale in my salad was wilted, the arugula mostly yellow, and the shredded beets(at least I think that’s what they were supposed to be) were sort of white/orangish. How hard is it to get fresh produce in this town? New Seasons is two blocks away if they’re really in a bind. If they feel comfortable serving vegetables past their prime, I would worry they do the same with meat… But maybe somewhat fortunately, the chicken I added to my salad tasted as if they ordered it pre-cooked. My boyfriend got a calzone, which was HUGE, and that would have been great if it wasn’t completely bland. I think if I had expected subpar food it wouldn’t have been a bad experience, but the menu and the Unilocal reviews make it seem really promising. That was not our experience.

I love this place. The happy hour is the one to go, 3 – 6 daily. The food is great on the HH menu, especially the roasted cauliflower dip and warm soft pretzels and beer cheese dip. I would go everyday, but a girl has to keep her figure ;). Love the beer selection, very clean, great patio(when there aren’t a million kids), and the staff is awesome.

We went here after Tasty n Sons, down the street, refused our business. I’m not sure why they call this BikeBar other than the fact that there’s nowhere to park. Fortunately, there were no signs of Portland’s hateful bike culture that I saw. The happy hour menu is fairly long. I had the pulled pork sandwich, and it’s a meal by itself. Their Lager is impressive, the cider less so. I would go again if not for the difficult parking.

The drink menu is huge, the food is a bit limited. The burger tasted amazing, just as most do from this area. I loved my drink and could have had three, wouldn’t have walked out on my own. It was a bit on the extra loud side but no wait to sit or get our drinks. Great for a night with the friends but not date night or dinner with mum and dad.

This is a fun bar! You cannot have a true hopworks experience without letting them give you suggestions for beers, ordering pretzel sticks and either the mini ice cream cones that are a quarter or their homemade cookies! All the food is is great for bar food! The beer is quite incredible. Here are my suggestions for delicious orders: Everything! But in all seriousness corn cakes, the burgers and sandwiches. I have ordered the pulled pork sandwich and wasn’t a huge fan of that. Make sure to check out the patio!

WEHADTHEBESTEXPERIENCE!!! First off we sat outback on this beautiful fall day. My husband hadn’t arrived yet and our waitress was super patient with me. I didn’t see that the outside area was a little self serve i.e. water, silverware. I had asked for water and she kindly got be some instead of directing me to it. She was super skinny, quirky and funny. Totally forgot to ask her name. She really made our experience at this location. We’ve been to the Powell location and thought it was overrated. After a three year hiatus we stopped at the Williams one and I don’t regret it at all. The seating area out back is super comfy with oversized plastic chairs that you don’t really notice are plastic. Bonus for a hefty gal like me. We got tasty beverages and ordered burgers with house salads. The salad wasn’t the norm run of the mill dumpy ice berg. Totally fresh spring mix with red peppers cucumbers and even some cheese crumbles. My burger was so amazing it won’t stop dancing in my head. Deep fried breast with spicy mayo, chiles and ginger Asian slaw. WHAT! All in all the food was amazeballs and our waitress was super rad and hilarious. The outside atmosphere is pretty cool too. I can’t wait to go back.

I came back to check this place out again and I really liked it for these reasons: –Extensive happy hour menu –Dry hopped cider! Yum! –Big, outdoor play space for the kiddos –Really big patio! –Fantastic service with chill staff It’s nice to have another alternative to my normal dinner place to take the kids.

Awesome kid friendly place for the dad who likes beer. Loved the bike centered atmosphere and the play area for youngsters. The food was good, but would not draw me to this place. It is close to the highway and is an easy stop on your way downtown.

By far the best outdoor kids play area at a restaurant I’ve ever seen. Tons of things to keep the wee-ones happy while you take advantage of a terrific happy our between 4:00 — 6:00. The black bean corn cakes, pretzels, sliders and salads were very poplar. A broad list of beers is to be expected, but the service was excellent and very friendly. If you can, sit outside.

This place is cute, lots of good beers and a good concept. I was not very happy with the service in general, hence the 3 stars. When we arrived, we were seated and it took quite a while to get our orders taken, despite 3 servers in view and a mostly empty restaurant. The rather scruffy young man who took our order got them both wrong and then totally ignored us. Another server offered to fix things for us, she was friendly and came back to check on us several times. I thought she did a good job(purple head scarf, blond hair) and her attentiveness made us feel better about the original server getting our orders wrong and then ignoring us completely(hi, water refills are nice, scruffy baseball cap guy). Took forever to get our check. Again, mostly empty restaurant, 3 servers on, that was baffling. The food is decent, brew pub style food. The flavor was good enough that we’d eat here again just to see if the basic service got better. Their beer selection is impressive.

Hopworks has a great happy hour. Their pretzels are fucking brilliant and during happy hour they are crazy cheap. I’m not a huge beer drinker so my only qualm is that they don’t have a full bar. They have some mixed drinks, and they have wine so I really shouldn’t complain. Other than that its neat and fun to go!

There is a lot to like about Hopworks BikeBar. Great beer selection — whether you like the lighter lager style or a super hoppy IPA there’s at least one house made option on the beer list for you. They’ll do half glasses for you if you’d like, plus you can do a sampler. Out back is a nice, albeit somewhat crowed, patio area that I prefer over sitting inside. Food is better than average for this type of bar/restaurant — especially the pizzas. But its really about the beer at Hopworks.

Met up with friends here for our first meal in Portland. A brewery that is «kid-friendly» and even has a kid’s section for them to play? Win win for all! The beers were really tasty, and the food was good with generous portions. I LOVED their soup of the day, which was some vegetable pureed soup. They also serve Stumptown coffee. I ordered chicken tenders and pasta for the kids, and the portions were huge — they could’ve fed a normal sized adult! The kid area is really small, so more ideal for younger toddlers. There were some blocks, toys, books, and a little table. The restaurant gave out paper and crayons for the kids to color, so that kept them occupied too. It’s just nice to have a space where the kids can roam a little while the adults enjoy their meal. Good times!

On a hot summer day, the back patios of HUB is ideal. Ample seating — sun or shade, which ever way you are inclined. They have a very nice garden and a kids area. I have not been there since last fall, and it seems like it was MUCH more family oriented. We were the only people enjoying the outside area that did not have a toddler and/or infant. They do have an inside adults only bar if kids are really not your thing. Happy Hour menu is very good. I always get the Pint-o-pretzles(did not come in a pint glass this time). Perfect for sharing and comes with a cheese dipping sauce and mustard. Staff are friendly, attentive and provide good service. Out front are two stationary bikes that generate power — so you can burn off your beer calories and give back to the grid at the same time. Good Karma all around.

Hopworks makes my favorite beer in Portland. I used to make the trip way down to the original location on Powell, but it certainly is better to be in _almost_walking distance. Most times, the bikebar will get a new beer a day or two after they have it at the Powell location. Only an issue when you are waiting for something special, like the Abominable seasonal. This is a great location for kids as well. They have a play area and a special menu for the small humans. Its one of those rare places where the adults can have something really good(the beer) and the kids are happy and welcome. It seems that most times you have to make a choice between the two. Non-beer drinkers might be interested in the following: They seem to have a regular selection of ciders, if that’s more your thing. However, they do NOT have the great rootbeer you can get at the Powell location. Novelties to show a tourist would include the two electric bikes you can ride to take a $ 1 off your bill(generates electricity for the pub). Seasonals to watch out for(my two favorites) are the aforementioned Abominable during late fall/winter and the Rise-up Red in the late spring. Regulars to enjoy: The 7 grain stout has remained a favorite and a new favorite is the light hopped hefewiezen.

It’s a cozy little place with lots of bar seating and friendly service. We ordered a big ol’ flight and some pretzels to munch along with them. The flight comes out on a huge whimsical wheel, and the pretzels are more like extra long pizza bread sticks brushed with butter and sprinkled with salt. We weren’t blown away by either of our selections, but were glad we got to taste a lot of what the brewery had to offer. Our favorite amongst the 10 beers that we tried was the Survival 7-Grain stout.

This was a great visit, but I’m spacing out on a few things. So, this is a more barebones review. There were no real negatives here, so let’s focus on the positive: –The beer sampler. Way better to order beer this way, and get a feel for the brewery and its philosophy/scope. –The appetizer menu. In particular, the pretzels, and the chicken tenders were outstanding. The chicken tenders are large enough for an entrée. –The service. Really attentive, great servers, along with bartenders.

Hopworks is a fun little(bike)bar in PDX. We decided to visit for the novelty… PDX is known for bikes and beers… what’s better than combining both together in a bar? There’s a great incentive to burn some calories by pedaling on their stationary bike and then getting a dollar off your drink… so consume more calories. Haha. We didn’t bother doing it because it’s asks for a 15 minute pedal… I didn’t want to get all sweaty =P
