Hot Topic

Hot topic is the place where I get my band t-​shirts. A little bummed that they don’t have as many good bands. Its a little overpriced but the sales are awesome! Some of the clothing is not for curvy people. I am size 11 in pants and size small/​medium in tops and some shirts don’t fit around my bust and some pants don’t fit around my hips. I guess that’s just bad luck.

Very friendly staff, easy to buy too many tiny objects as gifts! My nephew is currently going through a Dr. Who phase so this store has lots of little things to gift!

The thing is: you come in here and you go to clearance right away (unless there’s another sale). I’ve found some pretty good shirts for $ 10 in the back that have probably been sitting there for ages, the price dropping by the week.
Anyways, most of my clothing is from here, so I recommend it for those with a simple style.
The staff is so cool (maybe because people there constantly as me if I work there, apparently I have that «look») and I have conversations with them all the time about bands and pop culture. I don’t look nearly as hardcore as the employees, but I wear just enough to seem cool and approachable, I guess.

So I mean you don’t really expect fantastic things about Hot Topic. It’s got a good selection of nerdy clothes but stuff is usually pretty cheaply made, breaks quickly, a little overpriced, etc. The store can’t really do anything about that.
Some of the staff are friendly, and some aren’t. I’ve had very pleasant conversations with people in the store, and yet today I called in to see if they had a certain dress in stock I was treated like what I was doing was a total nuisance. When I tried to ask if they could set one aside for me I was cut off and informed that they had about six and hung up on.
Color me not impressed with your snotty staff.

Kinda felt ignored went I browsed around in here today. The cashier was greeting everyone else but me. I also was browsing the clearance racks and one of the girls stood right by me and never said a word. Seemed a little rude and stuck up. The two stars are for the sales.

I came in to check out the selection of band shirts available at Hot Topic. I haven’t been inside one of their stores since I was in high school. Nothing is different, with the exception of the employee attitudes. The girl that greeted me when I came in was very cute and helpful. After I sorted through their wall of stacked shirts, I decided to try some on for size. Another girl let me into the dressing room with a somewhat snotty tone to her voice. After I came back out to see what other shirts I could find, she asked if I found some shirts that worked for me. I told her I had to try out both XL and XXL sizes because every manufacturer makes shirts differently. I then patiently waited behind a woman sorting through buttons at the register for ten minutes with her son. The first girl that helped me was there and apologized for the delay, which was nice. I purchased my shirts at a sticker shock of almost $ 34, even though there was a buy 1, get 1 half off sale. I walked out with a bitter taste in my mouth. An hour later, I came back in to return the shirts because I found some others that I liked better. The manager then took them back and refunded my money in a somewhat contemptuous manner, acting as if she was trying to get me out of the store as fast as possible. I apologized and received a sarcastic response of «You’re fine.» I don’t think I will be back. The prices are ridiculous and the staff seems to have an expectation that nobody will return anything. I guess they don’t realize that people can change their minds, which is the purpose of a return policy. Awkward experience to say the least…

went to Hot Topic a few times, and each time the employees here are stuck up and rude, and aren’t helpful at all, not my problem your in your mid 30’s and hate your job don’t take that out on a paying customer. and turn that damn music down it sucks as much as your attitude.

Hot Topic, you are awesome. You bring me back to my high school days in a completely non-​judgmental way, and encourage me to dye my hair colors I haven’t had in years.
You’ve got a decent selection of body jewelry, your tee shirts are often funny, and your frilly glittergoth clothing makes me wish I wore bodices and skirts. I especially love your clearance section — all that good stuff, but fifty percent off? And with plus sizes? Kind.of.awesome.
