Don’t even think about calling them! Phone support is a nightmare. No number for the local store. They make you listen to a bunch of looong recorded messages before you can even get into prompt hell. Waited over 20 minutes on the main line, then tried again to connect to the local Portland store. Prompts went to annoying music, but again No humans! More annoying recorded messages! Yes it’s cheap stuff, but you get what you pay for.
Also, the yellow-​brick-​road maze layout of the store is fun and cute the first time you go there, but annoying for a regular shopper who wants to get in and get out.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Waited in line for ages for returns. Staff seems poorly trained and bad attitudes to boot. The prices may be cheap here, but so is the quality. Never again!

Such an awesome store. Went in when we had a limited amount of time. Let me tell you that was a bad idea. This is a store that you want to be able to spend hours and hours in. They have so much awesome stuff. I could go broke in here within a few minutes of walking in the door! Can’t wait to go back and spend more time looking at everything they have to offer.

This IKEA is ready to bring innovation to consumers. Although such innovation is not done by them to the degree of the big tech firms, it is more than pronounced here. This Swedish company mixes European elegance with the prices of the far-​east, quite an eccentric mix. The giving of foreign names can be confusing at times even with a description beneath. Shopping is also a blissful experience with there being lots of deals, lots of staff ready to help and plenty of highly inexpensive food options. Light rail is close by. The parking lot is huge.
It is often joyful to go to this IKEA. Even if I don’t buy something, it is likely in each and every trip that I will know that some product for my bedroom, kitchen, office and so on are available, perhaps I may buy them on another day. I do recommend reading reviews of the individual products before buying them. Phillips Hue is partially imitated with their big bulb that changes colors from a remote, which sells for sixty dollars. Speaking of lights, the store was a bit too illuminated for me. Two floors hold the store. The lines for the checkout can be a bit long sometimes.
Each section is particularly extensive. Some products are fairly similar to those at any old supermarket. They don’t just sell furniture, for they also have all kinds of categories such as kitchen and office supplies. And the store in the front functions as a Nordic food store. A Costco style eatery is also included in the front of the store. They have three different places to eat, so you won’t go hungry here. Ice cream is a dollar, a two hot dog-​a fountain drink combo is two dollars and see the rest yourself. Copious kinds of colors and patterns are on display. Often, IKEA will sort out a context that will make me want to buy something. Or otherwise, I saw dish towels for seventy-​seven cents in clearance. Prices are constantly dirt cheap regardless of the item and the item’s category in question. I saw an easel for ten dollars. This place is huge and I suspect many could spend almost a day here.

The store itself is fine. Ordering a sofa was easy and their delivery department was friendly. It’s the delivery service (that is not managed by Ikea) that’s the problem for me…
Like everyone else said, avoid it if you can. Not unless you like playing the waiting game. Their service is unreliable. The driver didn’t call, nor did he answer the dispatchers 3 attempts to call him. He then called almost an hour and a half later stating that we was late but is 5 minutes away. I wasn’t home and had to reschedule.
HOWEVER, if you go to Ikea and speak to their Customer Service department, they will reimburse you the delivery fee. I went back to Ikea, explained the situation and got a manager. She asked what day I want it scheduled, rescheduled delivery for the next day and reimbursed me my delivery fee. She gets an A+ from me. The second delivery attempt was 2 hours early and they were fast with bringing the 10 pieces of furniture in.
I called Dynamex, the delivery company to complain afterwards about how they need to train their drivers better and how bad my first experience was. The rep hung up on me.
Ikea, please get your own delivery service with staff you manage and control.

This Ikea is the worst.
After moving from Japan we needed new furniture & weren’t ready to commit to anything pricey yet so we came here for the basics. People working at this IKEA were not friendly & being a first timer at this brand in general I was not impressed. It’s a huge store & it was an overwhelming experience trying to navigate the place but when I asked where the mattresses were I got, «Upstairs.» Sorry for asking yah…
I bought an entire living room & bedroom set anyway, because I needed it. Media console, bookshelf, couch, bed, & mattress. I had it delivered & payed for assembly. We had maybe 4 assembly men who were not friendly & also very careless with our furniture. They BROKE a piece of the couch off. The point of paying for delivery & assembly was so that we wouldn’t have to do this ourselves, not to break the furniture & to cause us more inconvenience. On top of that we had an important piece of the bookshelf missing.
We had to make multiple drives back because customer service at this IKEA is horrendous. We talked to someone named Stephen who said we’d have to bring the furniture ourselves. Other then that he offered no apology or concern. Bring the furniture ourselves? Um that’s the point of us needing delivery. our car is small. Luckily the broken piece was a detachable piece of the couch so I was able to bring it to the IKEA but if it had been a bigger piece, it would have been an even worse situation.
After a lot of hassle of speaking with multiple workers, & a lot of extra time wasted for a service we had payed a lot of money for in the first place (I feel like the delivery & assembly costs more then the furniture itself), we were able to get a replacement & a refund for the assembly since it was outrageous that the assembly team had destroyed our new goods.
Now aside from the crap customer service & delivery/​assembly issues:
The furniture is cute & simple, but you get what you pay for. It’s cheap furniture so don’t expect much. I would say Ikea is good for the little things or for young folks who’re off to college. It’s very unstable furniture so if you have a healthy sex life I wouldn’t buy a bed with this brand. Even though there’s nothing crazy happening on my Ikea bed it’s always falling apart. The bookshelf shelves are always falling off so I can only put light stuff on it. I’ve almost lost my hands on multiple occasions because the shelves fall off. Can’t display my sentimental items on it for fear of it being destroyed. Our media console cracked when we moved. The only piece of furniture that has done well throughout this year is our couch. If you’re able to be very gentle with your furniture it’s fine but if you actually want to use it, I would recommend a better quality brand.
I’m eager to see how the IKEA opening in 2016 Las Vegas is going to be but I would not recommend this particular venue at all.

I don’t really like going to Ikea. I mean, the prefab MDF furniture is super awesome for its affordability and convenience factor, but walking through the rat-​maze is enough to make me not want the cheese. I just bought a house, and for whatever reason can’t find shelves ANYWHERE but here. I will say that the employees are nice albeit completely uneducated in the products they peddle. I’m sure I will continue to shop here so long as I have a buddy. I fear I will never find my way out should I attempt to brave this quest on my own.

Somewhat inexpensive junk «assembled» in China (but really, frustratingly, assembled at home…)
Don’t expect them to help you tie anything to the roof, or load anything from your cart to the car. They use extremely thin twine barely capable of supporting a feather pillow and an employee that apparently has never tied a knot before, and is unfamiliar with the term «Customer Service».

I love IKEA, but last night the experience was less then stellar at check out. The cashier was extremely rude and was tossing our items while scanning them and then shoved a box into my hand as I was grabbing the last of our items. Not a single sorry and she clearly saw my hand there and kept pushing the box into it. I was so upset I was about to call the manager over but I was tired and had one more errand to run and didn’t have the time.
Shame on you cashier 10 046 800! And learn how to say thank you, please and sorry for the future. It will get you much further in life. This is a tip coming from a person who has worked in retail for 10+ years

IKEA — gosh, where to begin. I remember when this store first came to Portland (before Cascade station even existed). IKEA does everything right. From in-​store child care, to a full café, to the coolest mini home setups. It’s the most convenient home shopping experience out there. You can easily navigate through the store by following the floor markings and overhead signs. Filling out the paper form on the upper level and grabbing your own merchandise on the lower level make for a easy shopping experience. Even if you’re not in the buying mood, just walking through their home setups will leave you inspired.
And who can beat the prices!!! They have the best deals for renters, young professionals and even growing families. IKEA is a must-​vist home store if you’re in the Portland metro area.

This one is very difficult for me to review. I have such mixed feelings, but the positives outweigh the negatives.
If you are reading Ikea reviews because you really don’t know anything about this place or how it works, I recommend you just go in and experience it for yourself. It’s pretty interesting on your first lap through the showroom and there are plenty of people-​watching opportunities.
I just finished building basically an entire bedroom worth of furniture. All told, I spent 17 hours over 2 days. Unlike a lot of folks, I find the instructions to be fairly clear — and they’ve gotten better over the years, in terms of anticipating mistakes you might make on certain steps. However, some of these things just take a long damn time to put together, even if you’re familiar with building Ikea stuff.
A part of me really hates particle board, which is what almost everything is made out of. It’s heavy as hell and can chip easily on any unfinished surface. But good luck finding functional and space-​saving solid oak furniture for this price… they don’t use particle board because it’s a great material, they use it because it’s (mostly) good enough.
What I *really* hate about Ikea is the experience of going there for the nth time. The first time was interesting because it’s so different from any other retail experience, at least that I’ve had. The second time was OK. But man, now I feel like cattle. I have come to loathe the fact that I’m forced to walk through a ton of areas that I don’t care about to get to one thing and I resent how crowded it can get during peak hours.
But then I get home with a bunch of new stuff, put on some music, crack open a beer, and get assembling. The end result is usually a good looking piece and I can sleep at night knowing that I saved some money.

It’s your typical IKEA. I can’t complain.
The people by the door when you enter are always so friendly and welcoming. They help you put bags on your cart, and they answer your questions. The place is an organized maze like all IKEAs that take you through all the different offerings and rooms. I like the examples of what your space could look like; especially if you have a small space. It’s amazing how spacious it can be with the correct furniture. I like that they have paper to write what you want and its location for pick up. I like that they have paper measuring tapes, because it’s so helpful; especially when you forget yours. I like that they have employees everywhere to assist you if necessary. I like that they have deals or «last chances.» I’m always down to check what IKEA has, and it’s definitely on my list as one of the stores I go to when it comes to furniture shopping.

Of all the years I’ve been a LOYAL Ikea customer, my last visit to Ikea was absolutely the most disappointing customer service encounter I’ve ever had with them.
We had purchased a dresser and when we started to put it together, we realized that it had some missing parts. So we went back and went to the Returns/​Customer Service area of the store to request for the missing parts. This is where ******, helped us out. She went to the back and brought out only two of the four missing pieces we needed. And when we told her that we need two more of those pieces, she basically told us that the missing pieces we needed weren’t in the back, she couldn’t help us because she’s only in charge of returns and that her hands were tied.
REALLY!!! So what are we supposed to do? We built most of the dresser already, we just need these missing parts to complete it!
«Well, you can always return the item» was what we were told.
We were VERY unsatisfied with that answer. Is that REALLY Ikea’s policy now? That if there is a missing part on a furniture item and it’s not available in the store, you just kick the customer out and say «You’re out of luck!»
We even asked *******, «can’t we order it online? Isn’t there any other options to get this missing part so we can complete the dresser?»
Her response, «No, even if I ordered it online, it wouldn’t include the parts that you need, it’s not in the back of the store, so there is nothing I can do for you»
SERIOUSLY!!! What kind of customer service is this?
So only after we refused to leave (despite her multiple attempts to shoo us off) and requested to talk to the manager, then she finally offered to do a parts pull… which is to pull the missing part from one of the in stock boxes they have in the store. Yes… only after we had to throw a fit and NOT leave, she decided to help us out and give us the missing part we need to complete our dresser!
******‘s demeanor and attitude was very rude and blunt the whole time. When one of her co-​workers, Mark, saw what was happening, he even tried to come over and offer to help, but she rudely rejected his offer to help us find what we need, and instead, continued to insist that there was nothing she or IKEA could do for us to replace this missing part. Mark was great, he should be commended.
IKEA, did you know that this is the type of customer service you are offering at the Portland Oregon store location?
I’m not really sure even if Ikea CARES about customer service anymore because even when I tried to call Ikea’s Customer Service phone line to report this, The phone rang for more than 20 mins before I hung up and gave up. So I thought maybe I can send Ikea an email, because Ikea might care about this terrible customer service issue… but NO, there really is NO way to file a complaint or reach Ikea in any way to offer constructive criticism. So maybe Ikea really doesn’t care about customer service all that much.
I’m going to have to seriously reconsider if I ever want to shop at Ikea again. Thanks a lot ******* for ruining Ikea for me FOREVER.

Got to love Ikea! Food is delicious and comforting and you get a good bang for your buck!
My lack of a star is because I bought a bed here and they didn’t include any of the support slats when I picked up all the hardware and pieces. When I drove down to another state that didn’t have an IKEA at all, I just had to get crafty and build my own. NEVER AGAIN! So make sure you get all the pieces.
Other than that, ikea is a great place for furniture and fun!

Let’s see, a company that puts their money where their mouth is, as far as diversity and price points that are affordable I’m OK with.
Very lucky to have them in Portland Oregon.

I would give IKEA 100 stars if I could — I love this place.
Most of my house is furnished with IKEA products.
I love to assessable my purchases, gives a great sense of accomplishment. Although not the highest quality — the prices can not be beat.
I love to amble and wander the store — looking at all the displays and small items. The upstairs model rooms are fantastic and provide excellent ideas.
The outside furniture is great too — has really made my back patio a useable space, extending my living area.
I always make a point to check the scratch and dent area — there are occasional treasures to be found for a steal.

THIS DELIVERY SERVICE SUCKS.
If you don’t absolutely need to utilize their delivery service, don’t do it! We had a delivery scheduled for Sunday from 5−9pm. They called at around 6:45 saying that they won’t be able to deliver that night because the driver didn’t show up to work. We rescheduled the delivery for Thursday from 9am-​1pm. No one showed up. They called around 4:30pm saying that they tried to do the delivery, but no one was home. Well hello if you delivered it at the time you were supposed to then someone would’ve been home! Someone was even home until 3:30 waiting for them. Ugh. The bed eventually came, but this service was unacceptable. Based on other reviews, there have been similar bad experiences so I suggest you save your money and avoid this service.

By Odin’s beard! This store has everything, even kitchen sinks — so you can’t say they have everything but. You can buy a table and unpronounceable food to eat on it.

How can I NOT review IKEA, and the only one we have in Portland at that?
I first became familiar with IKEA in Seattle, where IKEA is not in Seattle proper, but down in Renton along the Valley Freeway (167). Someone talked me into going, so I went along into what I always perceived to be this big ominous blue box. In Portland, IKEA is more prominently placed, at the junction of I-​205 and the airport access road. It practically waves at you. Not only that, you can take the train practically right to it.
IKEA is unique and does what it’s supposed to do quite well. I wouldn’t call myself an IKEA fan, but it’s definitely A-​OK and possibly more than that.
There are a lot of jokes about the IKEA apartment right out of college. Looking at their furniture, a case can be made for that. Truth be told, I don’t like most of their furniture. The price is right. The furniture is not. Where IKEA excels, and as mentioned by others, is in household goods for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and other items such as small lamps, lampshades, and things of that nature. An IKEA set of kitchenware or tableware, either as the primary one in the residence or as a supplementary set, is perfectly fine unless you feel more compelled to make an impression.
The IKEA cafeteria is kind of cool. For one thing, it sits up on the second floor and is spacious, along with views of the surrounding areas. If you sit out by the windows, you can «planespot» while you eat. Their food, however, is not what I would call cool. I may dislike spicy food, some of their food items can be downright vapid. What is hot is their coffee and tea and the fact that, if you have a little key tag for being an «IKEA Family» member, the coffee and tea are free of charge. Again, drink some hot tea, get a snack, and «planespot.»
The service is very good. It is imbued with their Scandinavian business model, so it is predictably polite, efficient, and devoid of colorful antics. Sometimes I like colorful antics, though. I tend to remember them better.
Every time I walk into IKEA, I feel like I am boarding a Lufthansa aircraft, since the bird on the tail of Lufthansa planes is blue and gold. However, I need to keep reminding myself that those are the colors of the Swedish flag.
