Oh how I love this salon! There is no pretentiousness here. Everyone is so down to earth, friendly, and professional. That is important to me. I watch everyone leaving with fantastic cuts. I have been going here a bit over a year now, both for color and cuts and highlight. All top rated. I go to Toni, she is professional, and really upbeat. She listens to what you want and does it. Great. She told me the other stylist are great too and I believe her.
After having horrible experiences at many other places and having stylist rush through my cut of long hair, or not listen, or color mishaps, take too personally me wanting to style my own hair (weird), … and even a stylist crying on me … ummm awkward. .I’m staying here!
I just feel really good here.

I finally found someone to cut my hair who I simply love. Her name is Maryam Hoffmann; she woks at Koipod. Maryam pays more and better attention to my hair and what makes me look the best I can of anyone who has ever cut my hair. She just seems to have really good instincts and she listens to me and communicates very well. I also am very comfortable with her personality. She’s warm and relaxed; I feel very comfortable with her and last but not least, Maryam gives me a little head massage while she’s washing my hair and it is so relaxing.

I really love my hairdresser Noriko. I have been going to her I think more than 5 years. she is so sweet and super friendly. I feel like I can trust her than any other salon. she really understand what I want for my hair style or color. I would suggest all of my friends and family goes to her because she did an awesome job! thank u again Noriko. hope to see u soon

I always see Jessica Tu for my haircut. She is patient and spend quality time with your hair. If you want your money’s worth, she’s the one to go to. She spends the extra effort to make all her customers happy and satisfied with their haircut. She is fun to talk to and is very professional. Totally recommended: A+++

Koi has a very relaxed, but most importantly, welcoming atmosphere. Not just the décor, but the customer service adds to the great experience as well.
I’ve been following the stylist from this location Mary around for many years (I’ve had many different hairstyles during that time). She does an excellent job with men’s cuts and styling. Her prices are hard to beat, and the experience she provides would gather upwards of $ 70+ in other cities. She will remember conversations with you that took place months before, and always communicates during her appts to make sure you are getting the exact look you want! For a mens cut in the city of Portland, Mary is you girl!
All in all, a very nice salon, amazing staff, amazing location, and prices that are perfect!

Koyote Kerzan have me the best haircut of my adult life a few weeks ago. This is the first review I’ve ever written on here and it’s because I found out about Koyote on Unilocal and know that the reviews really matter.
My hair was a seriously fried, over the borderline style madonna wanna be mess. I needed a make over in a major way and decided on a Dorothy Hamill/​Joanna Lumley style bowl cut. I made an appointment last minute at 5pm on a Friday and Koyote squeezed me in and stayed late for a 6:30 appt. I showed her the pictures and she gave me exactly what I wanted and was super enthusiastic about the process. I can’t count how many compliments I get on this hair do and I can’t believe how much I like it. Anyone who knows me knows I’m neurotic about my hair and am never happy with it. But it’s a new day thanks to Koyote!

I hadn’t cut my super long hair in well over a year and when I did get it cut last it was a nightmare. So recently I decided to look around for a place to get my hair cut. I was on groupon and I saw a great deal for KOIPod and the reviews on here looked pretty good. Last Friday, 6÷20÷14, I went to get my hair done by Tony. She’s very friendly and talked me through the whole thing. I told her some of my ideas and she listen as well as suggest something better for my hair time. I have long (to my lower back) hair that has an old ombré in it and my hair is naturally curly/​wavy and veryyyy thick. She cut the layers so my hair would curl better. I also wanted face framing/​fringe around my face and I originally wanted the fringe to start at my cheek bones and then taper down. She pointed out that I should have the fringe start just below my jawline unless I wanted to straighten my hair everyday because the shorter pieces of fringe would have a much more severe curl and would look strange. So glad I listened! Also I said I wanted 3 – 4 inches off and instead of just chopping off hair she showed me how much 3 – 4 inches meant to her an asked if that is what I meant. It was. It’s very reassuring so know that your hairstylist is on the same page as you and cheeks before they chop. Will be going back!

Bought a Groupon for cut/​color/​condition and took a chance on Toni M. and am very pleased with the outcome. She will be my new go-​to stylist. Cut was exactly what I requested, and highlights were subtle to avoid roots (can’t recall getting deep conditioning). Overall, a great experience.

I really enjoy the salon but the real deal is Mary! She has been doing my hair for a year now and has time and time again given me the best haircuts! Not to mention she is super funny and fun to talk to while you’re in the chair. I highly, highly recommend making an appointment with her!

If you are looking for current and creative color, I highly recommend Koyote. It’s hard to find a stylist that really listens to your vision and then helps you make it next level, but she does that for sure. I always walk out feeling super cute. She has such great personal style and a sense of humor too! Last week she helped me achieve the perfect shade of cool blonde for summer and I’ve had so many compliments already. Koyote really is the best; go see her!

My most recent experience included her being very cognizant to my desire to grow my hair out (this week at least) and have a low maintenance style that looks sharp. Somehow I ended up with a very fresh new bob while barely losing any length! And this COLOR! A subtle silver ombré that she created just for me !
Koipod is a great space, very open, bright and modern, but let’s be real: I’d follow Koyote anywhere.

Seriously though, Mary is a great stylist. She’s European, so OBVIOUSLY she’s up on the latest trends, I always leave feeling fabulous, and if I go in with a photo of a haircut that I want, that clearly won’t work for me, she tells me. I love that about her. She’s managed my hair when it was long and now I’m rocking a cute pixie. Whatever style you are looking for, Mary delivers. Make sure to book ahead! She’s popular!

Mary is my stylist at Koipod. She is hands down the best to ever lay hands on my thin, fine hair. She takes the extra time to make sure the cut is just right. I usually have her do long, minimal layers and she gets it right! She’s wonderful with color, too! I get highlights done only once a year or so, and she makes it look natural so it grows out nicely. Mary is the best.

Mary is absolutely fantastic! I walked into Koipod a real mess – overdyed blonde at the ends, 6 months of roots at the top and not much confidence at all. I walked out feeling like a new woman, with really GREAT hair. Beautifully tailored coloring, a gorgeous (but still manageable, for a girl like me) cut and healthy as can be!
Bit of background: I have a lot of very fine hair that I’d been growing out over the past year or two. I have had too many bad haircuts/​colors to count and I’ve struggled a lot with hairdressers not listening when I say «please don’t razor my ends :/​«
Mary was so patient with me! She looked through my extensive photo examples and actually listened to my concerns. She opened my eyes to some really great tips (hot water can cause your scalp to overproduce oil! what!) and recommended products that would benefit me but were easy to use. She is incredibly kind, honest and an absolute hair genius. I am a client for life, THANK YOU MARY!

This salon is clean, modern, friendly and in the heart of SE Portland– where everything is within walking distance. Great location, I love coming down here and walk around for the day.
As far as the haircut goes, Toni knows exactly what she is doing. I never believed in showing pictures since everyone’s hair grows differently– so I just told her how I am the laziest person in the world and asks her to give me an easy haircut that doesn’t require time to style– and she delivered. Even got a full highlight and turns out fantastic because she knows how hair works! The whole process was so enjoyable– I didn’t feel rush nor do I feel like she wasted my time. (Sometimes salon does that!)
Salon also offers waxing, facials, nails… awesome! I took one star away only because the hours could be tricky … as I slave away M-​F 8 – 5, kinda hard for me to just say, hey, let me just drop by for a haircut. I was lucky there was a cancellation, otherwise I would’ve had to wait a whole week. I don’t have that kinda patient once I get the urge to get my hair done.
But overall I will definitely return!

Tony did a FANTASTIC job on my hair! I am new to Portland, & found Koipod using Unilocal.All the reviews were pretty fantastic, so I asked the receptionist to place with me anyone who was availabe. I was booked with Tony, which worked out perfectly because he specializes in blonde hair (I had a full weave highlight in on top of a full head of brown hair, and it was fading) I had a picture of what I wanted, but knew it would take 2 or 3 visits to get all the way there. I asked his advice on how to walk out of the salon looking as (naturally) blonde as possible and he knew just what to do. He did an amazing job on my partial highlight and I will definately be back.
I came from a really great salon in California that I had been faithful to for about 4 or 5 years, that used Bumble & Bumble products exclusively. I was really nervous about trying some place new, but I am very happy with my selection! The fact that Koipod uses Bumble & Bumble product just sweetens the deal :)

I made my first appointment and the receptionist booked me with Annette. This was a first since i moved to Portland. She was amazing! We talked and discussed my hair type (blakc long and straight Asian hair btw), length and the shape of the cut. The head massage was a plus. It was so good I would just go there for a hair wash. She took her time with every stage. The hair cut was so simple and easy to take care of.
price was reasonable as well. I will definitely be back :)

I have been growing my hair out from pixie cut. You know when you get in the super-​awkward mullet stage between pixie and chin-​length? Yeah… my hair was in that stage when I finally couldn’t stand it anymore and booked an appointment with Mary. I kind of expected a «meh» haircut for this in-​between stage but I was super impressed. This looks like an intentional haircut and has looked nice for over a month! Usually a haircut starts looking bad within 2 weeks or so for me but Mary really knows what she’s doing! I have problem hair and most stylists don’t know what to do with it. Mary knew exactly what tools to use and how to cut my hair to make it SHINE (literally and figuratively).
I can’t wait for my hair to grow so I can get more haircuts! I have never been more excited about finding MY hair stylist after 5 years of living in Portland!
