I have been going to Dr. Bennett at Laurelhurst Dentistry for 12 years. Everything about these guys is awesome!

LD has been my «dental home» for 25 years, and there’s nothing I would change. Timely, accommodating, highest professionalism, efficient and the best work possible. All the dentists are tops, and while I miss Clarice Johnston (original owner of the business) I am happy with everyone that has followed in her wonderful footsteps. All my adult family members (husband, children) have utilized Laurelhurst Dentistry. The office staff, technicians and hygienists are personable and highly skilled. They even have given me excellent recommendations for work by other dental-​related professionals (oral surgeon, periodontist, and endodontist). I trust them completely!

Okay, this is my first review and it is an awesome one! First a couple of things about me. I’ve had horrific dental experience’s in the past mainly due to the fact that the dentist’s could never full get me numb because of my jaw line. Without being fully numb I was forced to white knuckle it and deal with the pain. I’m also bipolar and the past two years have been the most difficult in dealing with my depression. My depression would get so severe that I wouldn’t take care of myself, like bathing and brushing my teeth. I know that’s gross, but all I could do was stay in bed. Back in November of 2015 I was involved in an auto accident which broke my bottom partial. I googled dentist in the Portland Vancouver area and found Laurelhurst Dentistry. My appointment was with Dr Bennett. The very first thing I told Dr Bennett was my horrific past dental experience’s and how no one was able to properly numb me up. She immediately noticed and said that it was probably due to my jaw line and the nerve hiding behind the bone. She also said that she believes in taking her time to insure that her patients don’t even feel the injection. She was absolutely correct!!! I didn’t even feel the numbing injection and she was able to find and hit the nerve on the first try! My first appointment lasted about 2 ½ hours and during that time I started to fall asleep! OMG! That’s never happened before. I also want to comment on Dr Bennett’s bedside manner. She’s incredible! I bought a Sonic Care tooth brush right after my initial exam, and so when I went in for my second appointment Dr Bennett told me that she could notice the difference just in using my new tooth brush. She also gave me such needed positive encouragement that it not only helped with my dental care, but also in pulling me out of my severe depression. Both Dr Bennett and her staff get 5 stars from me. I’ve never felt so relaxed and comfortable at a dental clinic before now. I want to state that one more time, Dr Bennett was so great that she helped pull me out of my bipolar depression!!! What an amazing staff! Laurelhurst Dentistry makes you want to go to the dentist. The minute you walk in you feel welcomed, and you know you’re going to get the best patient experience.

Recently moved to Portland and heard from a coworker that Laurelhurst Dentistry was a great option… plus, great location right off the Burnside #20 bus. It was super easy to get an appointment. They have great service, from the first interaction with the receptionist, to the dental assistant, hygenist, and of course, Dr. Fischel. I was very pleased with all the people there, and with the thoroughness of the checkup and cleaning. Really enjoyed the fact that I’ll only need to get x-​rays every few years, and even then, they were easier than I remember x-​rays being (plus, they show them instantly on a screen in front of you so you can see what your teeth look like… cool!). I was absolutely pleased, and will definitely be sticking with them.

I’ve been seen at this office since 2009 and I’m consistently pleased with the customer service and professional treatment I receive. I came in for my cleaning & x-​rays and spent a nice part of my visit catching up w/​the staff. I left with a clean smile and a happy heart.

I have been with Laurelhurst Dentistry for more than a year and I remain delighted that I switched and simply dazzled by their performance. Laurelhurst has earned my confidence and trust. Examples:
1. My first hygienist correctly detected previously undiagnosed sleep apnea,
2. Dr. Supnet has never mentioned crowns for any of my cracked teeth,
3. Hygienist Lisa help me improve my home oral care by making recommendations which resulted in noticeably healthier gums and cleaner teeth,
4. At the end of my last cleaning, Lisa & Dr. Supnet showed me an image of a cracked tooth requiring treatment due to a new crack. Much to my delight, the recommendation was for a new filling which was done today, and
5. The new filling was so painlessly and smoothly installed that I scheduled a root canal for a troublesome tooth which has been bothering me for ages.

The people here are so helpful and kind! They make the uncomfortable task of getting my teeth cleaned, x-​rayed, or filled much less stressful. Their billing department is also very helpful and courteous. I sent my husband here and they gave us a referral discount too!

I’ve been going to Laurelhurst Dentistry for a couple of years now and they have always impressed me. They are friendly, professional and trustworthy. After years of going to dentists who always appeared to be looking to find work that «needed doing,» it is refreshing to have finally found a dental practice that looks after the patient. Highly recommended.

I have always been happy with both my hygienist and my dentist. They are kind, considerate and highly competent. The office staff is very patient and helpful.
I feel very well taken care of and have only had positive, painless experiences.

I’ve been going to this dentist for a few years now, and couldn’t be happier.

I have been with many practices over the years as I have moved a lot. This group is top ranked in my book! I have had 2 crowns put in and numerous checkups and cleanings. I find the whole practice to be competent, personable and efficient. My insurance is good and covers most of the work, but I would pay out-​of-​pocket if need be because my teeth are priceless! I sense that the people there work well as a team which I also like.

I absolutely HATE going to the dentist and only go when its a necessity but the dentist and staff always make me feel very comfortable. They provide you with everything that you need to be informed about your treatment and make sure they work with your schedule. Glad I was referred to them.

This is the place you go to when you hate going to the dentist. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you’re treated with kindness. They are also skilled, thorough and practical. I look forward to seing my dentists and hygienists. Really!

It seems like every year I have at least one dental emergency. This time, like all the time, Courtney brings you in to your chair and makes me feel very comfortable in a stressful time. Then Dr. Fischl comes in to diagnose the problem and start the treatment. Every time I leave Laurelhurst Dentistry with a better set of teeth than when I arrived.

Courtney and Dr. Fischl are so kind and I am very lucky to have had them for my first time scheduled at the dentistry. The receptionist was also very nice to me and offered me cider and helped breakdown the cost for my fillings for me. The person who cleaned my teeth had a little bit of a «colder» personality, but was quick and efficient. Loved the technology this place had, and the general concern every had for my health and their time spent explaining everything. Very good experience overall!

Got a new DR for some reason. She fixed a cavity for me. Simple enough? WRONG! She did it incorrectly. I had to go back again– they said they would fix it for free. As they should, they messed it up. She «fixed» my cavity. Now I have a sharp pain and can’t eat on that side of my mouth! Um hello! You just fixed it! I went back to have a Dr look at it. Told the secretary I was not going back to the Dentist that messed it up twice! She sent me another new Dr!!! What the hell?! Where did my dentist go and why are you sending me new people that are idiots! I only go here because I have had such wonderful service and gentle care. This is unreasonable! 3^rd time to fix 1 tooth!!! I’m starting to think I have to start looking for a different dentist!!! Beware!!!

Excellent staff and gentle yet thorough dentists.
Very short waiting time and quick in and out for my appointment. I highly recommend laurelhurst to everyone.

Where to begin…
I had several very disappointing visits here before finally choosing an entirely new dentist. Here are the lists of reasons I would not recommend this business to anyone:
1. Parking. Well, there isn’t any parking. Have fun finding a spot on the street or in the 15 minutes spots on Burnside.
2. Receptionist. The lead receptionist lacked professional courtesy and a friendly attitude. Each time I thought «I wonder if she was just having a bad day» but it was the same each time. I would recommend professional training and paying closer attention to details. Front staff should be warm, inviting and act like they’re happy to have you there. This place conducts business like you’re at the DMV.
3. Financial. Each and every time visiting this office I heard non stop talk of how much everything costs and how and when I was going to pay. They literally brought up payment 3 to 5 times per visit and it is very unprofessional. I’ve been to multiple dentist and medical offices in my life and this is the only office where I felt like I was being strong armed and harassed to death about payment. And yes I have insurance and paid everything in full. I would recommend reviewing costs once and then leave it alone. Harassing patients is not a sound business plan.
4. There isn’t much private space here. I’m used to private rooms and you are sitting side by side with other patients. Not ideal and with so many other options why would one choose to be packed in like a sardine.
Overall, I would not recommend this office. They don’t treat you like a customer, rather just another number waiting in a long line and they just want you to get in and out. They can all use a heavy dose of customer service skills improvements and professional courtesy.
