Had a failing hard drive. The software to try to get my data was 120.00 so I took it in to see what MacForce could do.
Well they replaced my hard drive, upgraded my ram, transferred all my data and the total labor cost was the same as the software I was going to buy.
Service was great, brought in on a fri picked it up on tue.
Highly recommend!

Travis and his crew are amazing! After deeming my 2009 Macbook irreparable, they went above and beyond, helping me to locate a used Macbook on craigslist, walking me through the steps of checking it out, and even transferring my data from my old computer to new one. They were very approachable, always responsive, and kind beyond belief. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs mac help.

Brought our 2011 Macbook Air in to MacForce last year when it was acting up (USB, microphone, speaker not working and keyboard only typing in caps). They looked at it, opened it up and declared that it was a HARDWARE issue (keyboard) and told us it would be $ 400 to fix. I asked if we could just use a bluetooth keyboard as a work-​around for typing and they said NO that would not be possible. We decided that was too expensive to fix and let the Mac sit for a year.
We are currently down a computer so I got the Macbook out last week, plugged it in and tried an old Mac bluetooth keyboard from a 2005 iMac. The second keyboard was recognized and worked! I then accessed the Apple website and updated the software including the OS. I thought «hey, I can work with the second keyboard and cloud backup until we get another laptop».
The Mac Air, including the built-​in Mac Air keyboard now works perfectly after software updates that were small and free on the Apple website. The problem was SOFTWARE and easily fixed by little-​olé-​me at no cost by just applying a little time, experimentation and deductive reasoning.
I am neither a Mac guy (I work on any platform put in front of me) or a «genius» when it comes to fixing computers. We trusted that MacForce would be «expert”(especially given the reviews on Unilocal) and at least diagnose the problem correctly. They did not identify the problem or even know that a second keyboard could be used as a bridge or help fix the issue.
They have $ 40.00 of our cash that they collected to assess the problem… which they did not «expertly» complete.
Am I one data point? Yes, but I’m left wondering how good they are if I fixed the problem.

MacForce geek squad is knowledgable and very thorough with their work. I’m very pleased with my «brand new» laptop! They even fixed a small keyboard issue without me even asking (totally forgot more like it)! Timeliness is on point. Definitely the go to place for all apple device woes.

My 4 ½ year old iMac was starting to get a bit sluggish, so I decided it was time to expand the memory a bit. Called to confirm price and timing. They said no charge for labor, just for the memory itself. No appointment necessary and should be done within the time it’d take me to go get a cup of coffee.
Well, I brought it in later that day without an appointment, and I didn’t even have time to get coffee! It was done in 5 minutes.
Great service on the phone and in person. Affordable. Friendly. Fast. And a rocket ship shaped trash can! What more could you ask for?!

On April 12, 2015, I had a complete crash of my 2009 MacBook Pro. On start-​up only a gray screen with an X appeared. I was in panic as I manage the financial affairs for multiple people. I found MacForce on Unilocal and rushed my computer to them. I left the computer with my Time Capsule backup and within a few hours, Travis called with a report that it needed a new hard disk. The same evening, it was up and running with the 10.10 (Yosemite) operating system installed. When I got the computer home, it was running great, except that I only had data restored for 2015. I went back and was informed that data was corrupted on the Time Capsule so they would have to go back to find complete data that was not corrupted. Travis and Jacob worked to find complete data over two days, and were able to retrieve all of my data back to March 1, which gave me what I needed as I only had to add back data for a few weeks. They did not want to charge me for the two days it took to restore the data until I insisted. I consider the results of Travis’ efforts heroic. I will not hesitate to refer them or use their services again.

50 Stars! Can I give the team at MacForce FIFTY STARS?! 5 – 0! Based on Unilocal reviews, my boyfriend recommended I visit them for my upgrade. My computer is crucial to my day to day but Apple software was surpassing my hardware. As a new business owner, my only other option was to purchase a new machine, not an option for my budget. Jacob spent over 30 minutes during my first visit to talk through the process with me and then after finding 2 days I could be without my laptop, I made the leap and brought in my machine. Both Jacob and Travis were so helpful and talked me through the process. Again, this was something I was so scared to do!!! My Mac is now flying fast after a software upgrade due to the RAM upgrade and more memory. I can now finally be at the latest OS. They gave great advice about making this decision. Top notch customer service!!! They are knowledgable but so much more. The esthetic of the office matches their boutique service! The Apple store is too overwhelming for me and the staff there tries to just talk over my head. I felt that Jacob/​Travis could put up a sign above the counter: Mac Therapy provided as part of your service (think Charlie Brown, Therapist is In cartoon) since they are so understanding what a big deal this could be and what trust I had in them! :-) They were willing to talk through it without making me feel silly or that I was not technical. They understood everything I asked and all my little questions! I know there are other folks behind the scenes so I am thankful to them too. I have told at least 10 – 12 folks about MacForce already but figured I would post here for those who are shopping around. This is the only option when it comes to Macs (or any other Apple products)!!! :-)

Smart, responsive and persistent – these guys are simply THE BEST. They do not let up until they find the trouble in your computer and then, take care of it brilliantly. We love Mac Force and will go nowhere else because they so consistently resolve our computer problems, fast and for a reasonable cost, while generously sharing helpful information. The team at MacForce is prepared to solve all of your Mac troubles. They have been around in Portland for some time, and they offer the type of personal experience that you would expect from a small business. I recently brought an older iMac into their shop (now located near NE Burnside) and was greeted by the friendly, smiling face of Travis.
The iMac was restarting on me unexpectedly and almost daily. I told them about the problems with the machine, and Travis said he would work with his team to run diagnostics and locate the problem. After running the machine in their shop for 24 hours, they were not able to replicate the problem. We decided it would be best to update the operating system to ensure we had the latest software.
Unfortunately, even after updating the OS, the machine was still restarting on me. I alerted Travis, and his team, to the recurrence of the original problem with the machine. He was gracious enough to offer me a full refund on the new hardware that I had purchased to run the new OS on this older machine. Instead, we elected to put these new hardware pieces on another machine I had in my home. They made this swap in hardware without any additional charges.
Travis, and the team at MacForce, continue to provide a wonderful service to Portland Apple users. They go above and beyond in customer service. I highly encourage others to take their device problem (s) to MacForce first to get an independent and experienced opinion.

My MacBook Pro died and, based on Unilocal reviews, I took it to MacForce. Later that day they called to say that the problem my machine was exhibiting is caused by a known issue for this model, that it was still under warranty, and that Apple would repair it for free. HAZZAH! What the other reviewer wrote about MacForce was absolutely true! Just for information’s sake, I asked how much they would charge for the repair and it was upwards of $ 700!
I picked up my ailing laptop the next morning and drove it to the Apple Store. Sure enough, I had purchased the extended warranty and there were 3 DAYS left on that warranty!!!
MacForce didn’t have to tell me about my warranty or about the known issue. Their integrity has just won them a customer for life. THANK YOU!!!

What a fabulous resource. I’m brand new to town, and have had a technical/​password problem for a few months, and finally decided to take care of it today. The problem was fixed in 15 minutes, and was charged nothing! Highly recommended for quality and service! Thank you!

I am so happy with the service Travis provided!
My partner and my glass of wine had a conflict of interest with my Macbook Air. Ugh! My life and business are on my computer! What’s a girl to do? Luckily, my partner scouted out MacForce and Travis came to the rescue. While my Air was (heartbreakingly) destroyed by the aforementioned snafu, he quickly grabbed my hard drive to make sure everything could be fully restored (by the way, Apple does not make this easy to do for a DIY’er). And, fully restored it was! I grabbed a refurbished Air from the Apple site and brought it in unopened to Travis. Three things I absolutely loved:
1) Travis charged me a fair price and kept me informed along the way. Never did I feel taken advantage of.
2) Travis seemingly gave me my former computer back, but in an updated way.
3) He even re-​wrapped and packaged my new/​refurbished computer so I could keep the unpackaging experience for myself.
So, so, so happy with MacForce! Will be my go-​to for anything Mac-​related.

I called the guys at MacForce on my ONE day off. My computer had been working really slowly for a really long time. They told me exactly how to get to them and said if I brought it in right away, they can get it started with the process of adding more memory despite their appt schedules being fully booked. They called me back mere hours later saying the whole process was done. I couldn’t have imaged working with more pleasant and helpful guys! In addition, when I picked up my computer and had another question, they helped me figure out something I couldn’t figure out for weeks on my own. The location isn’t quite as luxurious as the old MacForce location, but the help is just as wonderful, if not better! Thank you MacForce for such good service and pleasant people!!! Above and beyond service!!!

Macforce helped me diagnose what was wrong with my mac and what the best scenarios were to fix it … they were slow and methodical, making sure to explain everything in a way i could understand … once it came time to take care of my machine, they exceeded my expectations with a very quick turnaround time.

Awesome service! I was leaving town and wanted to do a quick couple things on my computer before I left and was faced with a total computer failure!!! Miles came and picked it up, texted me while I was out of town with the prognosis and had me back in action when I got back. Excellent service, so glad I can count on them to keep my business going.

A friend recommended MacForce and I quickly called to set up an appointment. A pleasant and helpful fellow named Travis scheduled a time for Miles to come out to my home. He said that the non-​computer savvy always love Miles because he is so thorough. I would agree. He did a number of things for me while he was there, such as setting up my new computer and Wi-​Fi, transferring all the information from the old one, answering a myriad of random questions from me and more. The cost is $ 80 per hour and they are willing to charge in 15 minute increments after the first hour. Also, I really appreciated that Miles called when he was stopped on the freeway due to an accident to alert me he would be late. Great service all the way around! I have been highly recommending MacForce to all my friends and now to you.

I have been having WiFi issues for several years. I called in a couple of friends to help me with my problems with unsuccessful results. Saw a cool Mac Force car on my way to work and gave them a call. Courteous, helpful, quick. Issue resolved.

If I could give this business more than five stars I would do it. My hard drive suffered grievous mechanical failure and I sent an SOS to Mac Force. They picked up my computer that day and had it ready the very next, and I didn’t have to sell a kidney to pay for it. They are professional, knowledgeable, prompt, reasonably priced, kind, friendly, and courteous. Genius Bar, schmenius bar — call Mac Force! They are gentlemen AND scholars.

They closed their retail store and are now available via on site visits only. I’ve used them twice and couldn’t be more satisfied. They’re affordable, on time, competent and professional. I work from home and it’s a big plus to have my Mac serviced on site or via pickup and delivery.
