Hi ladies, we all know finding a new stylist/​colorist is nerve wracking in itself, but when you are new to the city and state, WoWa, it’s on a whole different level. Trust and believe. Of course, I don’t have any real friends here, yet :)… Soooo whats a girl to do? Yeah, good ol Unilocal…
Unilocal however isn’t what sealed to deal for me to make an appointment with Mandy… it was something called
that I stumbled across for her. She does have lots of reviews on genbook… ck it out.
As laid back as I am, I do take my hair very serious. I felt like this «research» to find a new stylist became a full time job… I had my clues to look for… How busy is the stylist… what are others saying, portfolios, location, cost, what kinda condition is the hairdressers hair in… yadda, yadda, yadda…
So, Mandy… I liked what I saw online from past reviews… I mean after all I am paying an individual for their skills and finding someone I can click with who has the same perception as I do, can be challenging…
Appointment making online was a definite plus! Loved it, and I was thrilled I could give her a lil shout out before our actual appointment. I wanted to give her a heads up on past hair care products, color matching, etc… I wanted to be sure she allotted enough time to work with me.
Location, very easy. I loved the area. she has a great spot. You can take TriMet and it literally drops you off across the street… she also told me there is paid parking, at a decent price, a couple blocks up, should I ever decide to drive.
Salon is clean. I felt a good vibe walking in. There is a changing room with a mirror vanity inside to freshen up. They also have hand wipes, tissues, and cotton balls… nice touch. There is however no bathroom in salon. You need to go through lobby to second floor to use the ladies room that’s shared by the businesses. That was fun, only cause I was draped out and had foils in my hair with men in suites in the elevator! Maybe go pee first… ;)
Now comes the time to work with the starlet, Mandy! Who is she? What mad skills is she gonna throw down on my hair, is she more of a colorist or stylist… oh the thoughts are racing in my head… I want both! An artist to mask my striking silver bolts and a stylist to make my fine hair look full and bouncy!
Mandy is very warm and welcoming, I despise «caddy» salons. I felt as ease sitting in her chair. She was honest about the color match and talked to me about her thoughts and ideas. LOVED it. I mean after all she is the artist, isn’t that what we are paying them for? I like her confidence in her skills. I loved that she took the time to educate me on how to obtain a certain look I am after in styling my hair. She never pushed product on me, but did let me know what she was putting on my hair. I liked that she does the whole shebang. I don’t have to see a colorist and then a stylist. One stop beautician!
Aftermath: Day of, Hubby actually noticed and really complimented me. That was a 1^st and speaks VOLUMES! H-​e-​l-​l-​o hubster… ;)
Now here I am 6 days later and I finally decided to wash and style my hair. time for truth… What? Don’t judge, I’ve been a locked up housewife cleaning, unpacking boxes, and organizing our home since we’ve moved (o.O) Okay, back to the matter at hand… Mandy and HAIR! The color is beautiful… while blow drying I did notice the roots were slightly a shade lighter than the body of my hair (only I would notice it of course), but fact of the matter is and in all fairness… she did need to create a whole new formula for me and match a new product of color to an existing product that’s had years of build up… Plus she is getting to know my hair! Ppl need to understand that not all hair types are the same and of course after years of a profession you get the gist, but the beauty is that we are all different and unique.
The cut, ahhhhhhhhhhhhmazing! Once I blew it out and played around with the Technics she showed me, I’m one happy client. Shoot, maybe I could style hair… just kidding, but I do feel like I brushed up on my skills with the tutorial she taught me. luv…
I definitely look forward to working with Mandy and am excited for her fresh ideas.
She is definitely worth looking into and investing your time in to see if she is the right fit for your overall hair needs.

Mandy is a great stylist! I’ve been a client of hers for over three years now and will not got anywhere else for a haircut. It was extremely difficult to find someone who could cut men’s hair in the Portland area until I found Mandy! Once she cuts your hair, you won’t go anywhere else.

Whether you are a man or woman there is always a lot of anxiety when you go to a new stylist; there’s no universal vocabulary to explain what you want. This is where Mandy really shines. She takes the time to listen to what you want and will then offer honest tips and suggestions to make sure you get what you want. Additionally she will continually check in to make sure everything looks as you envisioned. On top of that her attention to detail is remarkable and you can tell she takes a lot of pride in what she does. So at the end of the day I get what I want and oh… did I mention you also get to drink free beer? Sold.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Mandy at Pigment Salon. I decided to try out a new stylist after a string of unfortunate dye jobs from my former stylist. She came highly recommended by a couple of friends who go to her exclusively. Since all of their hair looks fabulous I decided to take the plunge and I was not disappointed! Her service was professional and her personality, congenial, but most importantly, my hair looked great and I actually left the salon feeling pretty and satisfied for the the first time in a year. Since my first visit my trust in Mandy and her skills has further developed and we have gotten a little more adventurous. I most recently received a very cute and trendy «ombré» look to my locks that I’m in love with! Feels amazing!
