Metro seems like Spencers Gifts but in clothing/​costume shop form: a place where you shop with your friends and spend a lot of time giggling and excitedly pointing things out to each other. It’s a fun shop with TONS of club, stripper, Burner, hippie, goth and Halloween gear. I really loved their hosiery and shoe selection in particular, and their wall of masquerade masks are to die for! Pricing seemed a bit high but not outlandishly so. The lady at the counter was super friendly (not so much the «I’m too pretty to care» skinny girl helping customers on the floor, but whatev). Definitely check out their sale room in the back, AND remember to Unilocal check-​in for a discount on purchases.

I visited Ryan @ Metro for a piercing. Ryan was very knowledgeable, gentle and easy to talk to and communicate with. The process was easy, my piercing is healing nicely and I will return. The shop was cool, too and the gals working were very nice and had a great attitude.

Metro is more than just your typical shopping experience. Everytime I come here, I’m greeted by the wonderful Nako. She is always wearing the cutest outfits! All the employees are awesomely dressed. They are super helpful whenever you need assistance, helping me find cute outfits and accessories to match. I’ve never been to Metro without enjoying myself. Great prices, great staff, great stuff.

If went there to look for something special to go with this amazing skirt for my marriage ceremony. I met Nako who was absolutely amazing!!! she helped me find all sorts of things. and helped me get into this beautiful bustier! thank you so much! I will return!

Honestly I just wanted a nose piercing. But I don’t think I’ll go back to get one since the ladies at the front desk are pretty snobby and treat you like you are wasting their time.
To save some time I’m going to make this long story short… My boyfriend and I came in with our dog and they were very snobby from the get-​go. Told us our puppy wasn’t allowed in the place which is understandable. We left right after. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt I returned about an hour later and they greeted me rudely and when asking again for the nose piercing they told me the guy who would do had just left for an emergency. I gave them my name and number and asked, what I thought was polite, whether they knew an estimated time of when he would most likely be back. (Note that I live in Gresham and it takes me 20 – 25 mins to get here) that way I know if I should just head home or stay around the area. The sales clerk obviously annoyed of my question turns to me and says «He had to leave because he had to take his son the hospital»
Ok… First of all. I asked whether he would be back or not. I did not ask «WHERE» or «WHY» he had left. These ladies do an amazing job of trying to make there costumers feel bad. And love to dumb people down.
That was not my first time there either. Good job ladies :)

When I walked in the employees greeted me with a smile I didn’t look around to much but what I saw it seems like a fun shop filled with tons of stuff for every occasion (specially with burning man just around the corner)
I went in for a few piercings, ryan the piercer there is really patient and knowledgable. He took the extra time with me to make sure my double nostril piercings were completely straight and to my liking. He kept me laughing the entire time kept my mind off the pain of the piercings. He’s one of the Most talented piercers I have come in contact with in a very long time and I fully recommend him!

Any business that can handle a 16 year old, a 50 year old and a stripper at the same time as customers is a business that knows its business. Great selection, enjoyed talking with both the salesperson and the manager. Prices are all right. I could get stuff cheaper online, but then I wouldn’t have had anywhere near as much fun!

After visiting again a few more times, I need to update! This store’s definitely gotten better over the last couple of years. Really fun stuff for costuming, jewelry, hosiery. Prices are good and on par with similar brands/​shops in the area.
YES: fake eyelashes, hosiery, general glam accessories.

I gave them a 2, not because of them though. But I bought a ring that was consigned with a couple shirts, this all rounded out to about 50 $ or so, maybe just over. I couldn’t figure out what had the price so high, because on the ring, the tag was $ 15 and on the other side it was just listed as #30 it took me a while reading the receipt to realize what happened that she ran the wrong side of that stupid little tag. I was pissed at first, but I really liked the ring and I may not have found another like it soon. So I kept it. The employees aren’t the worst I’ve met, but some are either just dumb, or bitchy.

Metro is a fun place to visit. I was expecting better prices. They are competitive but not lower then their competition.
You will find a large selection of fun costumes, accessories and other random stuff. The staff are very nice and helpful. I wasn’t overwhelmed but the sexiness of their offerings or the uniqueness but it’s nice to know they are there. Plus they carry some items from local artists which is always a good thing.

I’m a bargain shopper so the prices seemed a little steep, but then, I am used to buying «gently worn» clothing and costume accessories and all their merchandise is new. Nowhere that I have found has Halloween costumes quite as nice or such a vast selection! I just wish they sold low cut fish net nylons.
I came here to purchase 2 tragus earrings, with screw on backs, while my friend looked for costumes.
Each earring cost $ 15 and it cost $ 5/​each to have the piercer put them in (it’s far harder to screw them in by yourself than one might think). That ran me $ 40 — plus the credit card machine asks how much you want to tip. I didn’t see an option to opt out of that and didn’t really like that I had to give 10%, 14% or 20%, considering it only took her 5 minutes to put my earrings in and she made $ 10 for that. I normally would tip a few bucks, but the piercer wasn’t super friendly. She wasn’t rude — per se — but she kept snapping at me for touching my ear. Last I checked, it was my ear and I could touch it — or rub dirt on it — if that’s my wish.
Anyway, the experience wasn’t bad, but I was kicking myself for spending $ 44 for such a trivial thing — that I did not need.
My friend ended up not buying a costume — because even the sale rack prices seemed a little high ($ 40 for the main part of a costume that’d need accessories), but she panned to go back if she didn’t find anything better, cheaper, elsewhere. As for me, I already had a costume, but have purchased a few really cute accessory pieces here in the past (tiara’s, tuts, leggings etc) and will continue to always pop in to see what new items I just «have to have».

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had in my life.
The employees scowled at me as soon as I stepped in the door. (Yes, I know I don’t look like your typical customer from the get-​go.)
When I started asking questions about their nose rings, the girl helping me was insanely condescending. As though me looking typical, meant I was stupid, or not worth helping.
A small sample from our conversation went something like:
Me: So, those nose rings, where the thickness goes from smaller to bigger, will that gauge out my nose hole?
Metro Staff (said with disgust, and like I was incompetent): Gauge??? You mean … S-​T-​R-​etch?
Me: Sure! Stretch. Sorry, I’m not sure about the lingo.
Metro Staff: I don’t know. It depends.
Me: That makes sense. What’s the smallest size of ring you have? I don’t wear stuff often, and the hole is small.
Metro: You mean what’s the gauge? Are you asking what the GAUGE of the ring is? Because the size of the ring, is called a GAY-​JUH.
(Said with scowling, and condescension.)
I will never be going back.

Me and two of my friends got piercings done here by Vikki. I got my belly button pierced, one of my friends got her lip pierced, and my other friend got her conch pierced. She was so nice and did an amazing job. My friend’s lip swelled up, and we went back and Vikki was really nice about putting a longer barbell in (for free!). Vikki seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. There was not that large of a jewelry selection, but we are all pleased with our piercings and our experience there.

I am pretty shocked by the negative reviews on here! I’ve been in a few times and every time the folks working have been helpful, cheerful and full of great ideas. It’s a fun and safe place for people of all shapes, sizes, and genders to get flavorful with their fashion. I just stocked up for the Burn and find such a wide variety of great gear.
All in all I’ll probably be back before my next festival or naked bike ride!

First off, the good stuff:
If you like funky eye lashes, gothy t-​shirts, and stripper boots, this is your place. I always enjoy looking at the make up and jewelry items. They have a good selection for being such a tiny store.
Now the bad:
Shittiest service on Hawthorne. I’ve been in about 5 times over the past couple of years. Each and every time NO ONE has greeted me when I entered the store. However, when I start to look around, the sales clerk shadows me as if I’m about to steal something.
Now, I know that I’m fat, but that does not automatically make me a bad person. It also does not make me a shoplifter or mean that I am too stupid to figure out that if I want something I need to pay for it.
This leads me to my next point: The prices are too effing high, especially when I can go down the street to Alteration Nation and get similar/​better stuff at lower prices.
Metro, I want to love you, but you make it so hard.
Here’s a thought:
If you had a website, it would help you a lot. Customers could shop in peace and bypass the rude sales clerks. Think about it.

I was never really aware of what this store had in it or what their main focus was. I always just drove by on Hawthorne, would give it a glance and go about my day. Then along came a Groupon deal at the beginning of October for Metro and I opted to take part in this deal.
On the inside is mainly lots and lots of costumes, tutus hanging from the ceiling, wigs in the back room along with sale items, tons of tights and stockings, and a good size amount of shoes to finish off your look… oh also can’t forget that they do piercings here so they have an ample supply of body jewelry. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially when your like me and get a little dumbfounded just trying to figure out exactly what I want. I came out with great success. Yes this store is perfect for Halloween but its great when your looking for that one item that the other stores just don’t seem to carry.

I like the selection of clothing, tights, accessories, and makeup but my one complaint is price. As other have said, they sell the exact same products that can be found elsewhere for much cheaper.
Great selection of costumes year round for whatever event a costume is needed for and the quality of Goth and Punk clothing is good. I’m glad they’re offering a Unilocal deal otherwise, I’m not sure who would be willing to spend what they’re asking for.

The sad thing is that they have started carrying more gothic clothing now that I rarely go to clubs requiring something dark and spooky. The quality of items has gone way down though. This store is just really too much unless you are an anorexic Gothling (I went with a friend who is a size 0 – 2 and she could not fit most of the clothing!), a stripper who lost her punch card for Fredricks or are that desperate for overpriced stockings.

They have cool and sexy costumes with reasonable price. However, I don’t understand why they advertise on their sidewalk signs that they have «Wigs» in stock and turned out to be, they only have five different wigs on display.
I came here with a mission to get a wig, I walked out with Neon Green false eyelashes which still spiked up my appearance for the 80’s night. If you are looking for wigs, look elsewhere unless you can settle for one of five wigs they are selling here.
