Mighty Oaks is an Eco-​Healthy certified preschool that offers a play & discovery based curriculum in a warm, nurturing environment. We pull inspiration from Montessori and John Dewey, believing that children learn best by doing & experiencing life first-​hand. At Mighty Oaks we get our hands dirty in the garden, tend to chickens, create art, engage in dramatic play, explore, learn, laugh, & grow together.

At Mighty Oaks we also believe in conservation. Baba Dioum said, «In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.» The more children learn about the delicate eco-​system, of which we are all an integral part, the more enthusiastically they will advocate for protecting it for the future. That love of nature should begin locally, right in their own backyards & classrooms. At Mighty Oaks, we look forward to the opportunity to nurture the seeds of ecological awareness in our students.

Business Owner

I have combined my experience along with my education to pursue my dream of opening Mighty Oaks Preschool! I believe that early childhood education sets the foundation to promote a love of life long learning. I have worked in various educational settings for over eight years. Having also taught in a variety of elementary schools (public, charter, private), I have the experience to prepare children for whatever their next academic steps may be.

I have always been an avid nature enthusiast. In college I was involved in marine mammal research, rescue, and rehabilitation. Locally I have explored the outdoor educational opportunities at Sauvie Island, on the coast, and in the Columbia River Gorge with a focus on ecological restoration. I have found my environmental enthusiasm and experiences have proven to be invaluable when educating students.

Hobbies: hiking, camping, climbing trees, traveling, rooting for the timbers, cooking, baking, gardening, and tending to my 3 chickens
