Drinks are ok. We got Jell-O shots and they gave us grape Jell-O shots. Who the fuck wants those?

I went to this place a couple days before Saint pattys and it was so fun! The drinks were stiff! The bartender was super cool! People were doing body shots as soon we walked in, music was loud and it was a great time.

This bar is like home! You walk in to a low lit bar, the staff has a happy energy. Deanna made me one of the best fresh whiskey sours I have ever had. My friend even accidently ordered the wrong beer later, which she promptly replaced for her with a cider. A great local hangout. Fast and super friendly service!!! This place completely changed my mind about east side bars!!!

This is a nice old fashioned, Portland dive bar. The people are real, the service is good, and the food is generous. Deanna, and Kahlie, are awesome, and handle the night shift, with the utmost efficiency. If you are looking for a real, no guff bar, this is it.

I’m sorry It took me a bad experience to write a review for my favorite local bar. I live down the street and Mulligans is my bar of choice. I have been going there for a year, I bring in my friends on the regular and we always have a blast. I would like the owners/management to be aware of an experience I had with the day shift bartender, Romona, who I had never met before. The night before, after I paid my tab, I dropped my card in the bathroom before leaving. When I got home I contacted the bar and JP said he would leave it behind the bar for me. They next day when I came to pick up my card, the girl behind the counter started joking to the customers sitting at the bar about how drunk I must have been, rolling her eyes at me. I explained I paid my tab but she kept going. A few days later I was in playing pool with a friend, before I left I wanted her to know that what she had said hurt my feeling, so I caught up with her on the side of the bar counter where we could talk privately. She became defensive immediately and said«Don’t you think it was rude when you came up to the bar and ordered a drink while my back was turned, and don’t you think it was pretty rude when you asked if pool was free?» So I told her she was absolutely absurd. Look, its a bar, I ordered a drink, I asked if pool was free because I was gonna get change for a dollar if not. I work in customer service, her response was completely ridiculous, Its not that hard to say I’m sorry and be courteous. Also there was only a few other people at the bar, she asked if we wanted beer before she turned around and I said no I’d like a Moroccan coffee. Then she handed my friend a beer without even asking what kind and didn’t acknowledge us the next time we ordered drinks. This Girl, Romona, then went into my friends work to tell her that I am not allowed at Mulligans anymore. WHAT?! Sounds like bullshit to me. I’ll take down this post, but something needs to be said to this girl about treating customers with respect. Also going into my friends work is not appropriate.

Hey bill wanker i remeber the first time i went to a bar . Mulligans is an industry regular joint, if you dont know what that means then dont stay for long. Last time i checked you cant lease a beer and try it out only to trade it in half finished for a fresher newer model beer ? Mulligans kicks ass all the bartenders are far out killer kats and the blue pig burger is worth a quick visit !

Wow. Awful service. The bartender that worked her on Valentine’s Day was the worst. Maybe that’s why she had nothing else to do on this particular day. Here is how it goes down… I walk in and order a Boneyard Rojo. She pours it and I take one sip and tip her two bucks. I then realize that they have Boneyard IPA. I’m like, «hey, I’m sorry but I didn’t see the Boneyard IPA, would it be possible to swap our my red for the IPA?» She’s like, «you mean the beer I already poured you?» And proceeds just to look at me like I’m an idiot. I’m like, «alright fine, no big deal, don’t worry about it.» She then doesn’t let it go and says«it’s not like we are hiding it(the beer list) from you.» So…I didn’t get the IPA. I don’t understand how a place like this survives in Portland. I’ve sent beers back in several occasions here in Portland without question. I understand her saying no — I can live with that. But she can save the attitude. Note to management: keep an eye on the quality of service happening in this place before you go out of business. Sure, you have a prime location but there’s probably a reason why you are never busy. And it’s not because you are hiding your beer list from customers.

Probably the best dive bar on Hawthorne, Sweet bartenders, tasty food, and not pretentious. Go here.

You’ll either love it or hate it. Clientele are generally interesting characters that can converse about a wide array of topics. Great energy right in the heart of Hawthorne. Strong, tasty mixed drinks. Sometimes, you have to wait. That’s part of the deal. Also, try the food. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with everything I’ve tried on the menu, especially the different burgers.

$ 5 draft regular prices is not the bees knees but at least they have Widmer here on tap. I’m guessing beers are a little more than we wanted because of the area. They have a couple of slot machines that are a part of the OR lottery. They do have a pool table but were playing the depressing kinda country while we were there and it was dreary out so it made for a dismal, depressing time making you want to drink for all the wrong reasons. The bartender was very nice but guess was not a beer drinker b/c she hadn’t even tried their Brokenarrow IPA to be able to give us some insight. Would we visit here again? Maybe if they had a bomb happy hour and changed the music

Went in with my father recently and had a great time here. We were doing an informal tour of portland bars, and this was a great stop to make. Deanna was a great bartender, super friendly and welcoming, checking on us a lot. There was a smoking area outside, which I greatly appreciated, and we ended up staying for lunch, which turned out to be a great idea. Not only do they have a really good draft beer selection of mostly portland microbrews, but their lamb burgers are delicious. Super flavorful, and a huge burger. I’d go back just for that and Deanna.

Came in for a beer and quick snack. I asked how the corn dogs were(they had a happy hour price) and he said«frozen, you get what you pay for haha» Rude and unprofessional bartender, dirty vibe, and crap food. Try another place in the area.

Went here for the women’s World Cup game and was utterly disappointed! Understaffed and the bartender was unable to answer any questions. Was hoping for a good experience watching the game but the service was completely underwhelming. If you are going to advertise for a game like this at least be prepared with a competent bartender. Had to leave at half time. When you have a sign that says fresh squeezed cocktails be prepared for people to ask for them. Don’t tell me all you have is oj and cranberry out of the GUN! Sorry but not gonna be going back anytime soon.

Went to have a beer with a couple of musicians who came to town from Mexico city. Bartender called last call, we order a last round of beers. Bartender came by a few minutes later and snatched our drinks away and told us to leave and threatened with calling immigration. A whole scene developed and even her friends apologized for her behaviour. We left this place and aren’t coming back. Worth mentioning, same bartender kicked us out of another bar an hour before, just one block away. NEVERGOTOTHISPLACE. There are other bars in the area where they treat their customers with respect.

Walked in to get a beer and use the restroom, take a break from hawthorne shopping. Walk in with my friend to be greated as if im being hostile. Hadn’t even taken a seat or had a chance to order. Bartender comes from behind the bar as i approach to ask if she can help me. She looks at me as if I’ve made a scene when I walked in. I told her we wanted beers and that he’ll order because i had to use the restroom asap. She rolled her eyes at mw and said OK as if i were up to something. So i said we’ll have two boneyards and gave my friend the cash and walked to the restroom. I come out to see he is pissed off because of how she treated him. Mainly the way she looked at him like she couldn’t be bothered and that we were miscreants making trouble in the bar. So we sat outside to enjoy our beer so to avoid the RBF.

I take it back. They don’t charge $ 3.75 for pbr. I guess they charge $ 2.50. Mulligans is one of the last bastions of honesty in Portland. I hate this song though. Deanna, put on something with guitars! You’re awesome.

The dude forgot how to make mudslide, but when we told him what’s in it, he totally rocked it! I was pretty happy for my awesome mudslide. We also ordered the Truffle Fries, and they were delicious. However, the serving was small though. Not too crowded, and not loud. You should give them a try.
