Meet the Business Owner
Hope B.
Business Owner
Whether launching a local mainstay or helping guide folks into their dream home, Hope Beraka has made a career out of creating spaces that are unshowy and inviting. A graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she earned a double major in history and women’s studies, the Bakersfield native moved to Portland in 1995. Since opening the Night Light with Gutierrez in 2004, Beraka has proven her passion for hospitality and taking care of the individual. Her back-to-basics, service-driven approach draws regulars and newcomers alike. With Beraka at the helm, expect a cool, laid-back hangout where the atmosphere is casual, the quality is not. In addition to co-owning the Night Light and now the North Light, Beraka, 40, is a Principal Broker at Think Real estate. She lives in the Laurelhurst area with her husband Kevin and two children, 15-year-old son Sage, and 5-year-old daughter Harper.
