My 12 year old Daughter could have died because of them! 8⁄24 her eye Dr saw an issue & sent them a referral they didn’t call. 8⁄28 she sent 2nd referral they never called. 9⁄2 she referred to different clinic. 9⁄4 she was seen & sent to ER for MRI& spinal tap. She had emergency brain surgery the next morning. I spoke to Jennifer N the office manager who said I should worry about kid’s health not who dropped the ball. This is the worst, rudest, most disrespectful thing to say to Mom in this situation. I asked her to have her boss Diane call me she didn’t. A few days later I called & left message for Diane still no call. Kelly a patient advocate called. She didn’t have facts right, said new patient appointments take weeks which is unacceptable, she didn’t care & when I said something about going up there said I have no business there. I asked her to have her boss call me she didn’t. I called & left message for boss to call me she still hasn’t. I tried to reach through Facebook, my comments were deleted & I’m blocked from making posts. I will never use any OHSU facility. They don’t return calls or care about people.

After my Son’s Parent Teacher Conference, I drove over and took the Kid to the 3rd Floor of the OHSU Center for Health and Healing. This is the building down below from«Stratos», home of the OHSU Cloud Minders. It’s at the foot of the tram and right next to the really cool ship building yard. The hardest thing about my experience was figuring out how to get here from the one of the Main Roads. It was more like a combination driving maze and playing keep away from other cars and ongoing construction. The payoff was validated parking below and an easy trip up the elevator. The Kid was here for a chest x-ray due some residual pain after a baseball-related collision. His Mom and I figured that he was OK, but it we needed to make sure. The folks at the front desk were nice enough, the lounge was comfortable, the wait was reasonable, and the technician was pleasant and efficient. You can’t ask much more than that from a medical visit.

I came of age in Portland at a time when many cars and even a couple of Trimet buses sported bumperstickers saying«In case of accident, don’t take me to OHSU.» Over the years, that sentiment has proven true some of the time with tragic consequences(RIP Julia), yet been proven equally wrong at other times(D. is cancer-free 12 years). So it was with some trepidation that I placed my own health in the hands of an OHSU doctor. But, hey, it’s just an eye doctor. Nobody dies from pupil dilation, right? Right? I lived to write this review, so far, so good. Dr. Lombardi listened attentively to my tale of woe, performed a thorough eye exam quickly and efficiently, and when that yielded no hints at the suspected underlying problem, she said quite simply, «Well. Let’s just do an MRI.» Yes, let’s. With other doctors that kind of request was met with the skepticism, scoffing, and side-stepping usually reserved for avoiding lunatics on the street or evangelicals on your doorstep. I might as well as asked to ride a chocolate unicorn to Mars. I’m pleased and relieved to find a doctor who treats technology like the useful tool it can be rather than like some precious resource only reserved for the mysterious deserving. Plus, I’m super excited to see my own brain. How cool is that? Cooler than a chocolate unicorn.

I dropped by this establishment the other day to see if they would measure my PD for me. They asked if I had gotten glasses there before. I told them«not yet» as my eye appt at the Casey Eye Clinic wasn’t for a few more days. They then told me it would be $ 25, which is an outrageous amount to pay for probably less than one minute of their time. Now, there’s little chance that I’ll ever set foot in the place again. What great customer service!
