History
Established in 2010.
* After experiencing first-hand the effectiveness of myofascial techniques in treating an old and stubborn injury, massage therapist Kate (Barkume) Dennigton decided to focus her own practice on myofascial therapy.
* Myofascial therapy is effective in treating musculoskeletal conditions that slow us down and cause us pain, including reducing scar tissue from injuries and surgeries, hip pain (sciatica and piriformis pain syndrome), knee pain, plantar fasciitis, neck and shoulder pain and headaches.
Meet the Business Owner
Kate D.
Business Owner
Kate started life in Gresham, OR, spending time with her family enjoying the Gorge and Mt. Hood. She played soccer, softball and danced. At 17, she won a scholarship to live in Germany and caught the traveling bug. Later, she settled down long enough to earn a B.A. at Sarah Lawrence College, studying human rights, history and environmental justice. After college, she got a job in NYC in video editing.
In 2007, Kate trained for her first marathon. While enjoying the long meditative training runs, she decided it was time for a big change. She quit her job, quit New York and moved back to Portland to study Massage Therapy. In early 2010, after receiving her license to practice, she opened PDX Massage Therapy to offer the benefits of bodywork to her community.
