I came out to try the phở after they were on a Portland’s restaurant bucket list. The phở was good, but not bucket list worthy. It wasn’t piping hot when it came out so towards the end of finishing your bowl the broth is Luke warm. It’s also extremely greasy. It wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had, but not worth traveling across town.

This place is seriously a hole in the wall not many people knows about this place but this is seriously the BEST phở place in PORTLAND area rarely do I ever say that this place is a family owned restaurant that is kinda run down but the phở here is amazing they even give ngo gai which is sawtooth herb usually eaten in phở but most or even all Vietnamese phở restaurant doesn’t even provide that herb. The service here is friendly nice people they are sweet and kind and serves quickly to us. The broth overall is amazing the flavors are developed and has a clean taste you can taste all the different flavors they have in phở the star anise, cinnamon, and clove. A very meaty phở broth with different kind of meat cuts in the phở making this place one of the best! Even according to PDX monthly this place is voted best phở in the area!

I have been regularly eating here for about 7 years, but in the past year and a half/couple of years, i guess some people in their family moved to america and started working here, and the vibe has really changed since then. i have been treated rudely over being trans pretty much every time i go to this place, now that these old people who just moved here are running the front. i leave feeling offended every time i give them another chance. one time, they even served me lukewarm broth with raw meat in it, so the meat didn’t cook, and i got terrible food poisoning, and i swear they did that to me on purpose. another time, i was rudely told«you sit there» which was the only spot directly in a sunbeam, with lots of other empty seats, and when i ordered for here, they brought it to me togo. the old lady seems to hate me for no good reason, one of the older new guys looks me up and down and gives me this«what the fuck is wrong with you?» kind of look when i am paying. i used to get tea brought to my table, but now i have to ask for it, and they act like i am requesting too much when i ask for it. its bad vibes. this used to be my favorite place to get phở, but now i feel like i am not welcome and that vietnam is probably a really unfriendly place to be trans in.

THE greenest phở I’ve found in the city. For fellow vegheads, you’ll love their unique side greens, and try the vegetarian phở for hearty cooked vegetables. This ain’t no meat and noodles experience; unless you want it to be, they have that, too! Also great flavor, relaxing atmosphere, and living indoor avocado and citrus trees.

Good meaty phở broth. Lots of vegetables in my wife’s vegetarian phở. Random bits of meat byproduct that I didn’t ask for … but i can see where some might consider that a bonus. Not fancy by any means, and incredibly over-bright overhead lighting reminiscent of Cell Block D back at the slam. Not especially friendly service — especially the lady sorting through order tickets when i went up to pay, and who acted like I was some kind of idiot. All in all, we’ve had better in a number of other cities.

This is one of my favorite places for Phở in Portland. The service is very fast and the broth is consistently good. I eat hear about once a week, and my order varies between the noodle soup options. The quality is always spot on, even when getting takeout.

This place has the best Phở Ga I have found in town. Mekha serves my favorite Vietnamese soup in town, but their Phở Ga isn’t really all that great(their chicken broth in general isn’t great.) Bo kho here is also pretty solid.

Strange building, like an old A&W, many windows on bustling Sandy. But the service quick and the food fine. Need to come back for the Phở. had the Hoanh Thanh — Wontons with combination of pork soup with pork and shrimps and heartily recommend it. the only noodles are the wontons which have almost not skin on then, naked meatballs with a pasta tail. Pork, liver, shrimps, 2 quail eggs. Broth hearty and sweet. Tony had the pancake, golden and crispy, but couldn’t figure out what to do with all the greens

Definitely one of the better Phở places I’ve gone to. The salad rolls are definitely worth the visit. The vegan chow mien is also decent. Portions are definitely larger than what I’m used to.

Ate here today for the first time and loved it. Had the phở #2. Broth was rich and fragrant and tasted like good phở broth should. Nice amount of noodles and meat. Large garnish plate with the standards. My buddy got one of the vegetarian soups and wasn’t a huge fan but I didn’t try it so can’t comment. Got my wife a meatless beef broth phở to go. They package the noodles and broth separate, well done. Service was polite and efficient. Long story short, the beef noodle soup here is awesome.

Bun Bo Hue is what you should order here! It’s super tasty!!! The owner of the nail salon I go good Vietnamese and has been living in Portland for almost 3 decades. She recommended this place to me for their Bun Bo Hue. Best in the city she claims. I agree! It’s just the right amount of spicy and heat. I haven’t tried their phở but I don’t think I want to since their bun Bo hue is so excellent!

The food here is amazing! The only reason i’m giving it 4 stars is that the dining area is small and can get extremely crowded.

Hot phở on a cold new years day. And so begins 2015 and another year of reviews. This town has a way of finding just the right food for whatever you require. It’s new years day, Oregon is playing a bowl game and pretty much all sports bars are full. Other restaurants are closed for the day or opened late. I actually wanted some tom kha but the Thai place by me on Fremont didn’t open till 4pm. It was 3. I went further and ended up on Sandy. I’d been to Phở Corner but never noticed the place one block up. Phở An here I come. Like every other phở place I’ve been to prior, big bowl of steaming broth with tasty strips of meat and veggies. White onions, scallions, Thai basil, sprouts, jalapeños and lots and lots of vermicelli. I don’t know what it is about Vietnamese places, but I don’t drink tea ever, but here I seem to want to. It’s mostly mild and I add plenty of sugar and I actually put down almost a whole pot. Anyways, good phở and a warm belly. I’m happy and you would be to if you ate here. Enjoy.

I will never, NEVEREVER, eat there again. I ordered the vegetarian tofu entrée. It reeked of fish sauce and tasted as such; thus negating the vegetarianism of it! If I was allergic to seafood, I could’ve had an anaphylactic shock! Beware patrons!

I drove by this place often and since I was craving some Phở and egg rolls, I decided to stop in and give this place a try. Don’t let this place fool you. From the outside it doesn’t look like a Phở place at all, but I assure you, the Phở is amazing. I had the Phở Dac Biet(the combination phở) and it was delicious. It had plenty of meat and noodles and the broth was nice and piping hot. It was full of flavor, and I will definitely say it is in my top 5 list of best phở places in Portland. I also had Chao Gio(fried spring rolls) and it was super good too. The food came out quick, which was nice. It’s a small place, and the single table I was sitting at was a bit small just because the condiments took up it seemed like half the table. Definitely hit this place up if you want a quick bowl of Phở.

We’ve had a few really good experiences here. I can’t pretend to be a phở expert, but I’m always happy with what I get here. We actually came to the conclusion that this place is better than Phở Hung, which we used to prefer. The broth isn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it’s flavorful and not too fatty. Sometimes the meat can be a bit on the gristly side. The herbs served with the soup are always fresh, the food is cheap and plentiful, and it’s fast – a good lunch option.

Came to Phở An Sandy for lunch. The menu is fairly inexpensive and big, so it’s nice to have options. My cousin warned me about ordering the phở, since he knows someone who used to work here and apparently they use a lot of MSG in their broth. But… I still ordered the phở, haha. When you have a craving, you have a craving. That said, getting the phở was a mistake. The broth was too heavy and I definitely felt an MSG hangover afterwards. I’m not sensitive to MSG, but it was too much here. I ordered phở tai with the steak on the side; the steak was fine, but skimpy. Too many noodles and not enough meat. My family didn’t like their phở much either. My sister ordered a bun dish, but it was stale tasting. My cousin ordered the best dish — the banh hoi dac biet. Huge plate filled with bo la lot, nem nuong, chao tom, and thit nuong, plus all the fixings. If I ever came back to Phở An Sandy, I would get their banh hoi special. It’s not the best ever, but it was a lot better than their phở and bun.

Hey I don’t think you can go to wrong with Phở on a cold cloudy day. Phở An Sandy is one of my family’s favorite phở restaurants in Portland. The Phở here is more authentic than most Phở places out there. My favorite thing about the place here is the PHO is extremely HOT temperature wise. It burned my tongue but that’s ok, I like pipping hot phở. We went here on our way home from Washington and it was worth the stop. The restaurant is a bit cramped for the crowd that eats here but I think you won’t be disappointed if you have to wait a bit for a table. Parking is a pain also so good luck with that on a busy day. No disappointments, Phở is well worth the try.

The Phở Ga is hot and overflowing. Its affordable and quick. The staff is friendly The spring rolls are fresh but lack flavor.
