Dr. Philip Grasso is the best doctor I’ve ever had! There’s something refreshing about a doctor who tells you «No, I don’t think you have [insert ailment here]». It means you’re not just paying off his student loans or renting that time-​share on the coast he’s been coveting.
It’s nice to know the Hippocratic Oath is alive and well in isolated instances in this healthcare-​benighted nation.
Everyone that works here is super nice; I’ve been to clinics where I felt like I’d just made Nurse Ratched’s To Do list. Competency, compassion, and congeniality are the three Cs of this clinic. Sure, it can be hard to get a hold of these guys, but you can leave a message that they will promptly follow up on. Not only that, but if you call the urgent care number after hours, you’ll receive a response within an hour! Well, I did.
Now all I need to do is show up for my appointments. Ugh, I’m such a flake.

Service here has been a bit hit or miss. I love getting chiro adjustments from John Howell — he’s fast and competent and gets the job done.
Scheduling, as other reviewers noted below, is a freakin nightmare. They moved to a new reception/​answering system recently I think. They almost never answer their phones; they don’t respond to email requests for appointments; and their Patient Fusion online system is not effective (you can only «request» an appt through the site — good luck getting anyone to confirm/​cancel your appt!). The old system was better where you could just call the front desk in Portland directly.
Massage here was also a fail — very low-​pressure ineffective massage, no deep tissue or sports massage as advertised. No elbow work. It was just a rubdown basically. It was so bad that I’m canceling future sessions even though insurance covers it – because why waste my time? When I finally reached a human to help me book a massage via phone, it was a month out since the massage therapist has very limited hours here (Weds & Fridays at this facility). Double fail.
Lastly, stopping by in person to make appts isn’t fun because the front desk receptionist is often grumpy, rude, etc. Lame.

Just call this place and if you don’t find yourself waiting on the automated machine for at least four minutes than you can disregard my credibility and read no further…
My initial appointment with a chiropractor was rescheduled the morning of. Then when I did arrive they told me I’d first have to see primary care. So no chiropractor at all, but hey I’m an easy going type. Now they schedule my first appointment a month later and not with a chiropractor, but an acupuncturist. Obviously there approach is get the new client in asap… well you get the picture. I guess the repeated long waits on the automated machine is fitting for what you’ll get in treatment here.

Came here today to see Chiropractor John Howell
as he was highly recommended by Elite Unilocaler Shannon H.
Parking was easy peasy and check in
was totally painless.
John took the time to listen to me talk about
my symptoms and medical history.
He laid out a solid plan of action and adjusted
my frame as well as the use of cold/​heat electrodes for the swelling.
His communication was intelligent
as well as to the point. He helped me to
navigate my complex daily rituals and
recommended corrections to my workout routine.
I left his office feeling better and confident
I could get back to a pain free life.

So far, so good… the doctors are naturopaths, they are physical rehabilitation and proactive focused, and seem very friendly, knowledgable, and very professional.

I made an appointment to come get something looked at that has been bothering me for the greater part of my life and has since gotten worse since my daughter was born 9 months ago, this place is the ONLY place in portland that takes my insurance! Excited, i made the appointment 2 weeks in advance, got a babysitter, drove the 45 minute drive out there, paid for parking, only to have them tell me i couldnt be seen that day because my name was not on the schedule. Really? as a receptionist is it not basically your only job to answer the phone and schedule appointments? This wouldnt have phased me so much if i didnt live a whopping 45 minutes away and had already paid someone to watch my baby for this time, and if i werent in pain. but i do, i had, and i am. bummer. my advice to you, double check your appointments.

This is going to be more of a love note and less of a review. Why? Because I am 100% in love with this place. I kind of want to keep it a secret, but I suppose for the good of all I’ll share.
I first stopped in here when my previous therapist moved to Washington and she suggested I check out the one here. I started seeing Melanie and really liked her. She’s more the type that you check in with to make sure meds are going ok rather than the kind I had before, who I saw weekly to chat with. If you’re looking for someone to see often Melanie is not who you want, but she is great at listening to me during my quick sessions every few months.
I needed a new PCP so I figured I’d keep it in the family, so to speak. I started seeing Dr. Phil Grasso ND and loved him! What a great guy, easy to talk to, very knowledgable, and an overall gentle demeanor. He’s helped me with anything and everything I’ve thrown at him (and I’m a hypochondriac so that’s a lot). I also appreciate that I can get in to see him when I need to. Nothing will make me change doctors faster than being unable to get an appointment within a reasonable time. Well, that and feeling like I’m being rushed/​the doctor has no time to spend with me.
I also have weekly appointments with Stacy (acupuncturist) and John (chiropractor). Stacy is such a sweet person! I look forward to every appointment I have with her and can feel my muscles melt as I lay on her table, complete with heat lamp on me to complete the relaxing experience. John is, well pretty much just the most amazing chiropractor to ever live. I’ve seen them all my life and have never been excited about one until now. Not only does he do adjustments but he takes the time to do some muscle work (aka massage) and hooks me up to his little electrode machine thingy to really tear down the muscles so they will rebuild. He comes from the background of a runner so I feel like I’m getting so much more than just a quick spinal adjustment.
Sara at the desk, and Christine the medical assistant round out this amazing team of medical professionals. I spend a lot of time in there because of the horrible back problems and they have done such a great job in helping me with the issues and also making it as pleasant an experience as possible.
Did I mention one-​stop shopping? Everything under one roof really makes it easy. Plus tasty Thai food next door. They deserve at least 6-​stars!

Dr. Vanessa Esteves is either 45 minutes late into my appointments (has happened every time I go), rushing me through my appointment or taking forever to get anything done for me. She can be dismissive. Bad beside manner.
I had pneumonia and was misdiagnosed. Said my lungs sounded fine. They sent me home with a prescription for Tylenol. Next day ended up in the ER. Spent two days there. You’d think they’d have taken it a wee more seriously for someone with asthma.
Um. Yeah.

Had an appt. Today at 3:30PM. showed up and although i was in their System, they didn’t have me scheduled. I set this appt. up over a week ago with Dr. Stroud. The receptionist informed me that i she did not show me as having an appt. and the next time was a week from today. not happy at all as i scheduled this over a week ago and planned around it.

PIH&SM exceeded our expectations. My wife and I are up-​to-​date on latest research (embracing the alternatives) to BE healthy. So, we are patients with our suggestions and lots of questions. Our naturopaths (Vanessa Esteves & Phil Grasso) listened intently and explained thoroughly what we needed to know – with genuine concern and care.
The friendly front desk (Sara) helped arrange appointments to accommodate some recent health matters. The medical assistant (Cody) went the extra mile – with a smile – to expedite insurance referrals for my wife. The med assistants’ (Christina & and Cody) we worked with are so very knowledgable too!

My Doc called a few days after an appointment to discuss routine blood work results – RESPONSIVE and CONSIDERATE. Some facilities may schedule you back just to go «Ka-​Ching» at the cash register.
We envision a long-​tern relationship with PIH&SM. They also provide chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, mental health, sports med, etc. I am actually looking forward to my annual physical, blood work and health assessment.

VERY hit and miss with providers at the clinic– after my experience here I will never, EVER see a nurse practitioner, or any other non-​doctor medical provider, ever again. The providers with «Dr.» in front of their names were pretty great, but overbooked.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I moved to Portland and was looking for a Primary Care Physician to have some standard blood tests done, as well as discuss the severe anxiety I have been experiencing. I found this place through my insurance and liked it because it was close to where I live. As I walked in and I instantly felt uncomfortable. Cody, one of the medical assistants, brought me back, recorded my height, weight, etc. and asked what the reason for my visit was. I started to explain that my anxiety was causing traumatizing nightmares, panic attacks, and that I had started to rapidly lose hair. Then I mentioned I would like some routine bloodwork done as well. The doctor came in, rushed me through the bloodwork and then when I tried to take out my list of symptoms and problems that I had been suffering from, she said, «We don’t have enough time to address these now, we can touch base in 2 weeks when your test results come back.» 2 WEEKS ARE YOU KIDDING. If there is anything to make anxiety worse, its the feeling of hopelessness. 2 weeks go by, no call. 3 weeks go by, no call. Finally I call them and ask if they have received anything yet and after being put on hold for 10 minutes they say, «Oh yeah, your results are here, everything looks fine except you have a hormonal imbalance in your thyroid.» I asked what happens next and Cody said, «Uhhh let me talk to the doctor and I’ll get back to you.» I asked if I could have my records faxed to my previous doctor back in California and Cody said I would need a release of records, and put me on hold again for another 5 minutes, the receptionist picks up and says, «Oh no you don’t need release of records, I’ll have then faxed right over.» I call my previous doctor in California the next day, guess what, no fax. I called Portland Integrated and Sarah started to tell me she had already faxed the records! I corrected her and said she did not and she said, «Oh it looks like I didn’t, I’ll do it today.» You’d think after that she’d want to send them right away to get rid of me but ANOTHER 2 DAYS GO BY before I have to have my California doctor personally call and request the records. Worst experience with a medical facility, I would NEVER recommend it.

The one stop for everything. Medical, chiropractor, acupuncture, physical therapy, massage, Counceling. I am extremely happy with the services I received. I have referred two friends and they love it here as well.

Inept at primary care. I was sent here by my insurance. My first experience with the Doctor was not great. Long waiting time and I got an impression Dr. Esteves had never treated anyone recovering from the type of surgery I had. Which is fine but she kept calling it something else and I had to correct her. She also gave me advice that was really off base.
Then I came back for my 3 month blood work, after another hour of waiting they told me I needed to be fasting and to come back. No one could of figured this out sooner?
Then I come back for the blood draw and two different techs couldn’t get my blood and they told me I needed to go to a lab. The guy made a point of telling me it was my fault because I was dehydrated. I told them I’ve always had hard to veins to get which is true. Usually new nurses poke and poke me and then have to go for my hand anyway.
So since I don’t have enough time to waste going back here I’m going to my old Dr. and paying out of pocket.

Great facility and Dr. Howell, what a great chiropractor! I tweaked my back a week or so ago and had heard great things about Portland Integrated. They fit me right in, emailed me the paperwork to complete, and were running right on time with appointments when I arrived. Dr. Howell quickly assessed my back injury, did some adjustments, and worked on it a bit-​all within 30 minutes. My back is feeling so much better and Dr. Howell’s treatments and advice really did the trick AND put me at ease-​I was so worried about it prior to going in. I would not hesitate to recommend both Portland Integrated Health as a whole as well as Dr. Howell. Thank you so much!

Dr. Howell is an awesome chiropractor! I am so skeptical w/​going to a new chiropractor, I usually don’t go unless I absolutely feel it necessary. I went to see Dr. Howell blindly because he offered a discount for Care Oregon members since Care Oregon doesn’t cover chiropractors. I think he’s the best chiropractor I’ve been to! He gives me an adjustment each visit as well as a massage & then he hooks me up to those electric massager thingies (ha) so my muscles get a little workout, too. I highly recommend him! It’s nice not to get ripped off either :)
Also to note, he is one of the owners of this new place & they have a really great space! I also agree with the other reviewer, street parking here is no biggie even though it’s in the Pearl… I’ve never had to walk more than a block.

I was so happy to find that my Nurse Practitioner who I have been seeing for the last 19 years is part owner of this new clinic! Patty Brandon FNP WHCNP is fantastic! She specializes in women’s health, but she is also a Family Nurse Practitioner. She truly listens, and cares. She takes her time, which is so rare in this day and age. My physicals are normally scheduled for at least a full hour. She is very thorough, and easy to talk to. There is nothing you could tell her that would make her blink an eye (I have tried, believe me).
I have sent several friends to her when their physicians couldn’t solve their medical issues. She has vast experience, but will not hesitate to refer you to a specialist when she feels something is out of her scope. In a nutshell, I love her.
I found it easy to schedule my appointment. The front desk, and medical assistant were very nice, and helpful with insurance questions. This clinic has a range of specialties, from primary care, naturopathic medicine, massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic. I’m impressed. It’s a very easy location to find. I found plenty of on street parking even though it’s in the Pearl.
Seriously though, if you’re in need of a good primary or women’s health provider, I can’t recommend Patty enough!
