History

Established in 2011.

Portland Student Movers was started in 2011 by a group of college students. After working for an entire for various moving companies around the city through a temp agency. As a student at PSU Jason and Ed wanted to make their own hours, make money and give opportunities to other students in the Portland metro area to work partime, make a decent wage and not have to work so many hours during the week while in school. This is also a perfect opportunity for students that are no in school during the summertime.

Having lived in Portland since the age of 6 I love the fact that I provide affordable moving services to Portlander’s. Having worked for bigger moving providers in the area I know how expensive moving can be. I am a sports fanatic, love football, basketball and my childhood sport soccer is right up their again thanks to the Timbers. I am also a foodie and living in PDX I am spoiled with all the amazing and unique food options that surround me. Being self employed and having the chance to make my own hours has given me the time to explore my city and all that it has to offer. I also love traveling for work outside of the Portland metro area to rural Oregon and beyond. Family, friends, sports, food and the gym best describes me.

I had Portland Student Movers help move me last week, and the process could not have been easier. I needed to move things out of my storage unit into a new apartment, and what took me at least 3 hours to pack up myself they were able to get done in under 20 minutes! The whole move took only about one hour in total. The guys were professional, friendly and communicative, making sure to take care of my belongings and to ask where I would like them placed. I highly recommend them. In a weird twist of fate I’m moving again (already) and have to be out by the end of the month, so I will be using their services again!

Taylor and Brad just finished unloading a 16′ POD into my upstairs town home. Super job! They were friendly, professional, quick, worked well together, and were careful with my belongings. Somehow they also managed to have a professionally appropriate sense of humor given the hard work they were doing AND told me a few things about Oregon that I didn’t know since my family is new to this state.
This was a last minute kind of mover request and I’m very glad Portland Student Movers was the first to respond to me!
Of course, I HIGHLY recommend these guys. :)

We recently moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 2 bedroom single family home.
PDX Student Movers charged me 95/​hr$ covering the cost of 2 movers and the truck.
Kane and Alex showed up on time and after showing them the inventory they quickly got to work. Fast and efficient, we were packed and unpacked in 2.5hrs. I appreciated their positivity and communication.
Only negative was I had to call towards late afternoon the day before to confirm appointment as I had not yet heard confirmation from them. They were, understandably, very busy.

Portland Student Movers were hired to unload our ABF trailer of belongings into our new home. While they were an hour late, they were friendly guys that did the job of unloading my items safely indoors. Not much above and beyond here, they did the job they were hired for.
One mover helped take apart and put back together a CB2 couch that didn’t fit up the staircase. That was incredibly appreciated.
In the end, the job was fine.

Portland Student Movers are awesome!
Moving is one of the least fun things about getting a new place and an excellent moving company is absolutely necessary. The two Portland Student Movers associates who greeted me were punctual, courteous, and good communicators. They are obviously very experienced at what they do and they carefully and easily took care of my belongings. I love that their prices are also reasonable too — I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

My issues with Portland Student Movers have been resolved, and thankfully! A kind man named Jason has purchased and taken over the day to day operations of the business. He reached out to me help rectify the treatment id received from the prior owner, even though he himself was not a party to that.
I have used Portland Student Movers twice and was dreading the idea of having to find a new company to use! The guys who actually do the labor a great, nice and friendly guys who are deserving of work. With my second move although the issue I experienced was very minor the treatment from the owner was less than stellar. This new owner makes me feel great about supporting this local business in the future and truly made me feel valuable as a client (a tough thing to do in this industry as you dont use them very often).
The movers are on time, efficient and the appropriate amount of friendly. The value is definitely there for the headache moving yourself with the help of some friends would cause you. Any business owner that cares enough to reach out to clients there prior to their involvement deserves a fair chance!

I called and ask to hire some movers to help my friend who just moved to Portland. I spoke to Larry for an estimate and the price was pretty reasonable. I decided to hire two movers to help me and my friend to unload
the U-​haul truck we drove into Portland. Brad and Caid, the two movers were right on time with their dollies and lifting straps. They were really sweet and helpful, worked quickly to get the stuff up the flight of stairs. My friend and I were really exhausted after our drive into to Portland and the movers helped out so much. There was no way we could of gotten all of the boxes and furniture up the flight of stairs. Very helpful movers.

I hired this company to load my small u-​haul trailer for my out of state move from Clackamas, OR. They have great prices and excellent customer service. Leo and Lucas were great! Very nice and easy to work with.
I’m so glad that I went with professional movers. I’ve had friends help me pack up my stuff before and a few items were broken in the process. Leo and Lucas wrapped all of my important belongings in thick blankets and shrink wrap for extra protection. Which allowed me to be stress free for the long road trip.
I was very pleased with Portland Student Movers services and I definitely recommend them to anyone in the Portland area.

I hired Portland Student Movers for my parents. My parents were moving from California to Oregon. I chose Portland Student Movers because they gave me a really good deal and stayed within the quote they provided. Leo and Alex was my parents’ movers and they were able to move the furniture into the Uhaul truck efficiently without any issues. The movers were on time during the move in date which made it easier for my parents. Leo and Alex wrapped all the furniture and fragile stuff in either bubble wrap and/​or protective covers. My parents are very critical about moving their stuff and luckily the movers where able to move the furnitures and ensuring it was carefully carried into the truck and transported on time to Oregon. I will definitely recommend this company to my family and friends moving out of state. So glad that they provided me and my parents with a stress free move!

I recently hired Portland Student Movers to help me move all my stuff to Albuquerque, NM. Alex, Brand, and Leo showed up on time and helped me to load up an ABF truck. They and the company are very professional and courteous.
I had a lot of photography equipment in that load so I was very wary of others handling these items. But they wrapped and packed everything in the truck carefully and I was left without worry.
Did I mention they were decently priced as well? Oh, yes. I would have gone with a more expensive moving company for peace of mind, but a local business friend of mine put me on to Portland Student Movers and I’m so glad I did.
I would recommend these guys to anyone one of my friends or clients!

These guys are fantastic. And my sister was very excited to have their help.
Recently my sister who lives in Tigard got out of a long term relationship and needed to move. I live in California and couldn’t take the time off from work to help her in enough time to get her moved. So I did a search on Unilocal and made some calls. When I talked to Ed he was very professional and made me feel very confident that they were the right crew for the job. The rates were really good and from what my sister told me well worth it. Larry and Brad both assisted with the move and worked very hard. They were kind and courteous to my sister and made her feel like she had nothing to worry about. She has two boys and she told me how friendly they were with them. Apparently my nephews thought they were like super heroes the way they moved the large pieces of furniture so easy. Being so far away, that made me feel great about my decision to use them and if the need ever arises again they’ll be my very first call.

Great experience.
I live in Trenton, NJ and I hired these guys after I bought some Antiques (A gorgeous table and 6 huge wooden chairs), on a famous website, the one that ends by list.
I needed movers to load up a POD container to ship it to me.
Because of the values on my new/​old furniture, I wanted very delicate and careful movers, to be trusted to do the job. Larry and Alex were the movers I got, and they
carefully wrapped my antique furniture in blankets, bubble wrap and shrink wrap and everything got to me without any damages. Moving is stressful and buying online was already nerve racking. Portland Student Movers made it a lot less stressful on me.
I also though that they had affordable rates, a great professionalism and honesty.
Not everyone understand the value of Antiques and I was surprised by the attention the movers gave to my shipment.

I was moving out of PDX down south to Cerritos, CA and needed a couple of guys to load a small Penske truck. I wanted to make sure that all of my stuff would be safe on the long drive and get there undamaged, so I searched online and came across Portland Student Movers. I emailed them and Ed responded within a few minutes. His rates seemed reasonable so I chose to hire them for the move. I had some really nice musical instruments that I wanted to be taken extra care of and the two guys who came to help were so nice, they used blankets and bubble wrap to protect everything ants made sure everything was tied down. After several days of driving we opened the truck and nothing had moved. These guys were awesome and it was money well spent!

I recently had to move my grand mother from NY into a retirement home in Portland, Oregon. I had no idea how I was going to do it. Then a friend told me about the Portland Student moves and let me tell you. Alex, Cain, and Brad were so friendly and professional they really helped in making the move stress free for us. And, to top it all off their rates were extremely affordable. I am so grateful that my friend referred me to them. I had to find movers on short notice and was extremely flustered as no one would return my calls or emails and if they did they wouldn’t quote me a set price. However when I contacted Portland Student Movers, Ed responded within minutes and answered my questions with concise information and a set quote. The price he quoted was fantastic (better than ANY other moving company) and he worked with my time schedule.
On moving day, Larry and Brad showed up early and instantly started. They listened to all of my OCD request and were on the road in less than an hour. It was over 90 degrees and they moved all of our stuff into our new second story apt without any complaints and kept asking where I wanted my stuff instead of just assuming.
I would recommend this company to anyone moving!

I didn’t have a clue of who to call for our recent move. I requested quotes from 3 different movers and found the two other movers wouldn’t commit to a fixed price and charged for blankets, wrapping, etc. I found Ed from Portland Student Movers to be very responsive, a direct communicator and in both cases (we moved our belongings to a storage until our new home was ready – and then from storage to our new home) our actual charges came out less than Ed estimated. Honestly, I would have paid what he quoted but this is an example of his honesty. The movers themselves were on-​time, friendly and handled our things with care. An added bonus was that they were supervised the entire time by an on-​site manager.
Late in the day – keep in mind we had a lot of stuff. The movers were still laughing and going up and down our stairs with a smile on their face and were taking the stairs 3 steps at a time. We enjoyed asking the college age movers about what school they were attending and hearing about their career goals.
I did read posts on Unilocal and I thought some of the people who complained about them to be crazy. Of course they want to get paid when the work is complete – I am not sure why other posters expected anything else. When your haircut is done you don’t tell the salon… hey, I’ll pay you later, if you take a cab you don’t tell them you will pay later, if you eat a meal at a restaurant (you get the idea). This is a service industry so, if you hire them expect to pay at the end of the move.
In my book, Portland Student Movers get an A++++++ Would recommend them to anyone.
