Pretty paws & claws is a grooming shop with u-​wash available for those who would like to clean there own pet, We are in the heart of Sellwood in the old Sellwood square. The groomer Katie Miller will spruce up you pup or kitty cat for a reasonable price. Come on in a see what we are all about and feel free you bring your furry friend! History

Established in 2012.

Pretty paws and claws was started in my small kitchen with no clientele till I started advertising, I groomed out of my kitchen for about one year as my business started to grow. Once I accumulated to many clientele for my small home Sellwood dog supply offered me a space, And I stayed there for about a year and a half with much success, But sadly I had to say goodbye to Sellwood dog supply. Today I am in my very own location in Sellwood and I could not be happier.

I am the proud owner of Pretty paws & claws grooming and u-​wash, I have been working with people’s beloved pets since I was 16 year old, And have had a passion for animals since I can remember. I treat all the animals that set foot in my shop like they are my own.

Katie is awesome and so are here helpers! I love that frequently when I go, I see her son or her mother or her husband all helping in some capacity if even to keep her company. She is very good and I trust her completely with my pets. I read in the reviews a couple of comments about her canceling appointments or being flaky. And what do we know about the reasons why she may have canceled an appointment or not been available. I can only imagine how many last minute cancellations or no shows she has to live with as she tries to pay her bills. She is a tiny business and may make a mistake once in a while with scheduling but I’m one of the customers who was an accidental no show and has canceled as well and I get it that stuff happens.
My Nicky and Kitty love her and her great support team. She’s a family person and treats her customers and visiting clients as though they were family as well. As an animal lover, I can feel that she, too, is an animal lover and treats our pets with respect and kindness.

We took our persian kitten here for a lion cut/​nail trim. Katy did a great job with him and he was in and out of the appointment in under 30 minutes. That has to be some kind of record. The price was right (the most affordable cat groomer I’ve found so far in Portland) and the cut was excellent. Glad to have found a new groomer!

I have taken my dog her a few time.
Katy is really nice but flaky. Great with dogs not with service.
Last appointment was canceled with less than 24 hours notice and no apology. That is after scheduling 2 weeks in advance!

Katie is absolutely amazing! She was so wonderful with my «special needs» dog, who has a hard time getting to know and trust new people, and Katie took the time to let him approach her, get to know her, and very quickly he fell in love with her. I just moved to Portland and am so thankful I found a pet groomer already! She’s fast, knowledgeable, and amazing!

Katie and her team do excellent and quick work! I’m always so amazed how she can transform our dirty little puff ball into a handsome gentleman. We have brought our golden doodle to Katie since he was just 8 weeks old and she has always been very gentle with him. His tail even wags when we arrive! You can’t top that! :)

My German Pinscher is awesome at everything except getting his nails trimmed. Finding Katie a few years ago solved that… she can trim his nails in just a few minutes and he barely even realizes what just happened. I’ve tried other options a few times but no one can do it as smoothly and stress-​free as she does (for both Ferous and myself) plus her prices can’t be beat. I highly recommend Pretty Paws and Claws!

Just couldn’t be more pleased with Katie and her services! We first started going to her over 3 years ago because she was a five minute walk away. We’ve since moved much farther away but still will only take our pets (cats & dogs) to see Katie because our animals love her, she is EXTREMELY reasonable about prices, and she genuinely cares about the animals that come to be groomed by her. Top notch, 100% the BEST you can find anywhere!

My rescue dog Dusty (age 3) has never had a successful grooming experience until now. Katie and her team at Pretty Paws handled his grooming with patience and skill. When I picked up Dusty he was calm and happy and handsome in his new haircut! I couldn’t believe it. Katie really has a special way with dogs. So glad I found them. Highly recommend!

KATIE IS THE ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS. Read my other reviews… I’m ‘persnickety,’ I admit. Katie is 100% A+ all around.
She communicates with the animals and holds them in respect. I’ve seen her talk to my dogs and she’s even returned them with the astute observation that one dog seems to have arthritis in his left hip! She nailed it!
She had delivered these dogs to my house when I was stuck at home with a sleeping infant and no way to collect them.
Her work is true artistry! I have two very hairy dogs and sometimes the summer cuts are (ahem) dumb-​looking. Not with Katie! Every time they’ve come out eager to go to the park and show off the new look.
I’ve never received them back with s nick or a scratch. Their nails are never cut too close to the quick. They never smell like poop or smoke or bleach or ambient yuck.

Thank you, Katie. I’ve struggled with all of the issues I mentioned here with others. Katie truly is the answer to my prayers — a huge benefit to anyone with dogs in Portland, or surrounding areas.

I took my toy goldendoodle here for bath and grooming. Pretty Paws and Claws did a great job. Katie was very knowledgeable and my Rosie seemed to have a good time. This was a much different and better experience than I had previously had at a large retailer/​groomer.

I came here once when my new pup needed her paws trimmed. Owner was super sweet and even gave us her first trim for free. Unfortunately that that is where all the good ends. Both my husband and I have called a couple of times to double check and ask if we can drop in for nail trimming without an appointment. Each time we were told it was fine. The next FOUR times, including a few minutes ago, despite it being well within her business hours, the store has been closer. It was closed an hour and a half early today! What is the point of having business hours of you aren’t going to keep them? I wanted to like this place. The rates are good, the shop owner is lovely, but after trying 4+ times to get my pup’s claws trimmed only to find the store closed during business hours is ridiculous. I chose this place because of its vicinity to my doctor’s office and the amazing Unilocal reviews. But I am not going across town for grooming or nail trimming if this is the kind of service I am going to get. You could have had a life time customer, and you just lost her.

What a great experience! Not only was I able to stay for Sherman’s kitty lion cut (which was fun because I’ve never seen the actual shaving part), but the cut was beyond what I was hoping for and was the most inexpensive trip to the groomer ever! It’s a family affair at this place, and I couldn’t be more pleased. See you again in a few months!

$ 5 nail trim. I think that’s all I need to say! I had trouble locating the store, as it’s tucked in a courtyard on 13th (not 17th like the pin shows). Katie was great and had my pooch in and out in 2 minutes. I’ve been avoiding going to the vet because of the $ 20 charge for nails, but I’ll be a regular at Pretty Paws from now on. Also, free nail trim with the U-​Wash, which is less than $ 20 and scales down the smaller your animal.

Took Rudy & Abbey to Katie today, just moved from California, FIRST GROOMING HERE! Lucky for me and the «kids» because Katie made me feel GREAT! Best PART, DOGS look fabulous. Katie was so kind (I’m kind of neurotic and Rudy and Abbey are, OF COURSE!!, very special cases.)
A vet near me recommend Pretty Paws and Claws! Then I looked on Unilocal, every 5 star is RIGHT ON! Although my «kids» were not perfect… Katie whipped them out of there, looking SO wonderful, in a VERY SHORT TIME! AMAZING! I am hooked and will book her up FOREVER!

Kudos to Katie! I took my greyhound Punch for a bath and nail clipping this weekend. I was totally impressed with Katie’s knowledge as a groomer and her kindness as a dog lover. I say WOW to Katie. She is so wonderful and caring in the work she does. I have the honor of Katie grooming my 3 year old Persion cat, Missy, since she was 12 weeks old. She is VERY gentle with all the animals she grooms. If you need your cat or dog groomed, I highly recommend Pretty paws & Claws Grooming by Katie Miller!!! I give her 5 star plus… love her!!!
