Radiance Nails and Spa

Everything a nail salon should be! Katie is great at her job and seems generally happy to take care of the customer. My nails looks great and her bonus massage is excellent.
Will recommend this place to all my friends.

I always go to Kaydi because she does an amazing job with the shape of my nails and she always makes time for me. Sometimes she stays late for me if she is busy all day. Calling ahead of time is ideal because they get really busy and have their regulars. Kaydi also massages your back and shoulders after a manicure. Defiantly my favorite part of the manicure. They have wine too!

Hands down the best pedicure I’ve ever had. I was in town visiting a friend and we randomly walked by and decided to go in. The polish was applied perfectly and lasted forever. The foot massage was AMAZING and a lot of time was spent on it. The massage chairs were also great, high quality chairs! I live out of state and wish I could hop on a plane every time I wanted to get a pedicure, just so I could come back here.

Update: there is a weedery on the 2^nd floor in the the same small house/​building as this nail salon, hahaha. I have a new game I play with staff where we guess when someone walks in if they are going downstairs or upstairs. Most people are going upstairs! Haha. My favorite nail salon in Portland! I found this place while living in NW, and although I don’t live near anymore, I still drive out here because every other place disappoints. The owner is wonderful — remembers all her customers names, very kind and personable and they all do a great job! Could not ask for more.

Had a great experience here! The staff was very friendly and accommodating last minute. I was very pleased with the thorough work and attention to detail. I’ve found my new nail salon!

I am updating a review that I had previously wrote regarding my services here. After I had a sub-​par experience and spoke with the owner, I went back and she personally did my shellac manicure. Not only that but she was extremely attentive to what I wanted and very apologetic for a not so great experience. Everyone is extremely nice there and I couldn’t be more happy with my new manicure. For sure will be back.

While out shopping on 23^rd today I saw the sign for Radiance nails and decided to stop in and check it out. First of all, I was blown away by the incredible customer service, the girls were so friendly and warm. Katie, my nail tech, even poured me a glass of wine! The basic pedicure comes with a 10 min massage per leg, and Katie was the best! My nails turned out great and my skin feels so soft! The whole experience was very relaxing, for $ 33 (mani-​pedi) I might just start coming here instead of getting a massage! Bring cash, but they have an ATM inside if you forget. And tip these girls well ;) they seem to love their job, but we all know its hard work, and a great attitude deserves a reward!
I am very surprised by the reviews below, everyone was friendly, the shop is very sanitary, everyone brings their own file and buffer, or it’s only $ 1 to purchase a new set. The massage was fantastic and could have even been harder and that would have been fine. This is one of the only salons I’ve been to where my cuticles turned out flawless. The owner clearly reads the reviews and takes them seriously cause it sounds like a lot has changed (even in the last few days!) That really shows how much they value their customers. I am so glad I didn’t read the reviews first, otherwise I may have skipped the gem!

My friend and I had a manicure here yesterday. Her manicure was amazing, but the massage was rough and hard. My massage was wonderful but the manicure was something a 7 year old would give.
She was banging into my nails as she applied polish and then kept telling me to «be careful» — I’ve had manicures for many years and I rarely smudge my polish.
She was trying to dry my gels under a fan as the 3 coats of polish she applied were not drying fast enough!
When someone saw what she doing they stopped her. I’m not sure if it was inferior polish or bad lamps but they have not cured and are full of smudges — so bad I’ll be having them taken off this week.

This place was a doozy– I left halfway through my manicure! My friend and I stopped in to get our nails done and not only was the customer service poor (both manicurists constantly interrupting the manicure by getting up to do other things), but their sanitary practices were horrifying! The instruments had clearly been used on other clients before us without being cleaned, and when they clipped our cuticles (which I realize is already a risky proposition) they cut us both clean to the skin. We both left with bleeding cuticles, weak nails, and a lingering fear of infection. Not optimal!

Katie is the owner and I always book with Katie. This place gets 5 stars because of the overall value to customer experience. Katie bought this a few years ago so any reviews before that would not be relevant.
I always have had great service Katie knows how to do a manicure w/​o cutting cuticles and to help nails grow stronger. She takes her time and you won’t leave until you are satisfied with the work. My observations of the other workers is that they take care with everyone. Recently I noticed a college age girl that kept complaining about her manicure (she hit her nail on the fan) but tried to blame the salon. Katie was very patient and kept redoing unit SHE was happy. Then the girl came back ten minutes later with another nick. Again Katie took the time to take of her even though this person had already left with a perfect manicure. While the salon does not have all new equipment-​everything is very clean. And if you have any worries all you have to do is ask Katie to take care of it and she will. A very hard working family owns this place and they know who butters their bread-​the customer…

These ladies are sweet. I’m very pregnant and have been in a couple times. One of the gals knew certain pressure points to avoid, and I appreciated that she had that knowledge. The other did not and massaged my ankles profusely. I let her because I am at my due date and would not really mind going into labor! But earlier I would have had to stop her. There is a shorter woman who I like the best (forgetting her name now) – she is super sweet and removes callouses well. I recently went with a girlfriend, and it seemed the woman doing her nails was not as a nice and smudged her a few times. Maybe it’s luck of the draw? The woman doing mine didn’t do much callous removal even after I asked… I wish it was a bit more consistent. I should probably make an appt. if I want the same person, but I usually drop in unexpectedly if I’m in the neighborhood. Anyhoot, good, cheap pedi if you’re in the area! There seems to be a little pressure to «upgrade» your service, but they do drop it if you stick to your guns.

I give Radience props for being inexpensive, it certainly came in handy when I was younger. As my go to nail place for the longest time, I did expect my return to it to be a bit more pleasing. As far as service goes, they were absolutely amazing, but the quality of work was rather questionable. My nails over all, were actually very well done, it was a simple manicure so there wasn’t much that could go wrong. But after sitting, waiting for my nails to dry I began to notice many uneven spots, areas that quite honestly should not have been missed. I hate to admit it, but either there has been a decrease in quality or today was just a bad day, I do hope it was the latter.
Some additional thoughts:
* This occurs at other salons, but they can sometimes be a bit pushy about trying to get you to purchase other treatments (i.e. waxing/​pedicures). In my past experiences there they have been especially pushy about this sort of thing, it didn’t occur today but it really got ridiculous the previous times.
* The space itself is not particularly well put together, they sanitize well (or it seemed like it was so) but it can feel a little sketchy.
I hate to write a negative review (honestly, this place had been a favorite for a very long time) but despite the cheerful staff, the work today seemed rather lazy (and I could understand if it had been a busy day, but I spoke with the manicurist and she said it had been slow) so in the long run, Radiance is fun with groups and cheap, but the quality is not (and remember kiddies, this has been /​my/​experience) fantastic.

I usually hate everything but I didn’t hate this place! I called to see if they accepted walk ins as I was standing outside annndd I’m awkward like that. Indeed they did and had time right then and there so in I went.
The pedicure was great, there wasn’t any wax treatment (which personally, I don’t see a big difference with anyways but I guess the hot wax feels good? I guess.) but it was the BEST foot massage I’d ever had. I find the foot massage gets cut short or just isn’t super thorough more often than not, which I mean, I would probably skip through that phase too because I hate giving massages, but it is their profession so they must not hate it thaaaat much.
Anyways, moral of the story: fab massage, good pricing, good overall pedicure. My little toes and I will be returning just as soon as I trash them again for wearing heels too much… so like, now.

I think that all of these reviews here are outdated. I moved back to PDX at the end of 2010 and this place has become a staple. It’s always packed with regulars so I’m sure that others agree!
After shopping around I found that Katie gives the best and cheapest Brazilians and they do a fantastic job on nails! For example, I got a pedicure before going to Europe for 3 weeks and after walking miles/​day in sandals… My nails still looked fantastic and had no chips.
I have brought several friends here in the past and we all agree that this place is a little gem. We always get the deluxe pedis and they massage your legs for so long. They are very attentive and take directions really well! They even convinced my boyfriend to get a pedi and now it’s his treat after working long 12+ hour shifts in the hospital.
I guess I have nothing but positive things to say about this place so it shocks me go see such negative reviews…

Got the French shellac pedicure looked great for almost 2 months!

I’ve been a customer off and on for about 10 years. I can only speak to the pedicure service. I find the same familiar, friendly staff has been here for years. They are prompt to greet and give you simple instruction on waiting and picking polish. I am a fan because the salon is of good quality, close by, no high pressure up sell, and inexpensive. I have always had a nice experience.

I was here with a friend a few months ago and the manicurist made a comment about my feet in Vietnamese; and it was not nice. When I started to laugh and responded back to her in agreement, she was in total shocked and apologized profusely. The owner instructed her to offer me a free polish, of a flower, on one of my toes. I declined.
She went on to do a decent job and apologized every five minutes. After a few of them, I was more annoyed of her repated apologies then simply working on my toes and nails.
Since then I’ve returned, and notice a new team of workers replacing the previous ones. They are very friendly and do a decent job. They do try to up sale as most salons do, since everyone posts cheap pricing on their doors to get people in. I noticed that when I spoke with them in their native-​tongue they were more friendly and at ease. In the end, they do their best. After all, you can’t expect five stars when you’re willing to pay next to nothing for a clean, polish, cut, massage, paint, free water, etc.
So far, I’ve been very lucky with the two girls I’ve been assigned.
The pedicure room is quite small, but it’s two rooms divided by a wall. There are only two manicure tables, so be prepared to have your mani done at the pedicure station.
I do not use them for waxing or tanning, therefore, I cannot speak to those subjects. I never have them inquire if I need either services.

This place is horrendous! This is the last time I make the mistake of getting a Brazilian at one of these cheap salons. There were hairs all over the table, which the woman did not bother to clean up, and it was incredibly painful. The best waxes take 15 minutes, and this one took over an hour. I wanted to stop the woman and just walk out, but I felt like I should just suck it up and get it over with. And the woman charged me $ 10 more than the price advertised on the sign! What a rip off!

I have never been so annoyed after getting a manicure. By far the worst service I have ever gotten.
My friend and I were just walking down 23^rd, doing a little shopping when we decided to get our nails done. We were planning on going to the nail salon that we’ve been to just down the street but we happened to see this place on the way, so we decided to try it out. How bad can it be, right?
We walked in and waited for about 5 minutes before getting seated. The lady that was doing my nails was nice at first. I told her I wanted a French manicure, and then she asked me if I wanted to try the gel kind. At first I was a little iffy about it but she convinced me that it would be much nicer and last up to 3 weeks. So I agreed… but then she kept trying to convince me to get color, when I already told her numerous times that I wanted French. So by then, I was starting to get a little annoyed because I know what I want but she clearly didn’t care. She kept trying to convince me to add other things and get more $ out of me. When she started doing my nails… she kept messing up, so she would take it all off and start over again. I can understand maybe a mistake once in a while but she had to re-​do my nails 5 times, which I think is a little ridiculous. She also caked on 4 – 5 layers to the point where it looked really bubbly. Then she was getting frustrated because it would start to wrinkle. Well maybe it wouldn’t wrinkle if she didn’t put so many layers on? (Just a thought…) But she insisted it wasn’t her doing. She says that it’s just my nails. Excuse me? There is nothing wrong with my nails, thank you. Unbelievable. So she then asks me to wait until the other lady (who was doing my friends nails) was done so she can give it a try. At that point, I was really annoyed and frustrated since it had already been over an hour. I asked her to just take it all off because it just wasn’t worth it. So after she takes it off… she tells me to pay her FULL PRICE for a manicure that I didn’t even end up getting. I explained to her that I didn’t feel it was right to be charged full price for a service that I never got. She refused to cut the price, saying she still provided a service. Trimming my nails? Please! I’ll pay for the trimming but not FULL price of a french manicure.
Customer service is terrible at this place. I will NEVER come back to a place like this.

I always have a great exspirence everytime I go to Radiance Nails. Everyone who works there is very attentive and nice. My sister first went to radience nails and told me what I great time she had, so now always go there as well. I get my legs maxed every month and it’s always qick and well done. I plan on telling friends to stop over.
