Regal Lloyd Mall 8

If I could give zero stars I would. They’ve removed the fandango machines from the theater, so even if you prepurchase tickets, you can’t pick them up. On a day with 200 people in line for matinée showings, they only had one ticket window running. Incredibly incompetent management.
Though the location is convenient for taking our kids to the occasional movie, my family and I will never return to this theater after today.

It’s a Regal Theater.
That said, it’s pretty close to the apartment, and if you happen to find yourself in the Mall and decide «Hey, I kind of want to go to a movie» you’re already there.
If you want to avoid long lines winding through the food court, just go get your tickets early and then meander the food court or shop (or just go hang out in the bookstore for awhile).

We went to see Star Wars IMAX 3D. I am amazed at the customer service at this theater. Theater crew is usually nice but here I felt like the people, especially the manager, went above and beyond. It was clean and comfortable and I am definitely coming back for more movies even though this one is a bit of a drive for me!

If you’re shopping out and about at Lloyd Center Mall and you want to watch a movie, they have 2 movie theaters. One is located outside, which is across the street and is in visible view as you drive down Multnomah. The other is INSIDE THE MALL NEAR THE FOOD COURT.
So on a lovely Sunday evening, when the mall closes at 6 PM and you would like to watch a flick, keep in mind that you can’t access the mall since all the doors are closed. The mall keeps one entrance open, which is near the food court at the 3^rd floor.
So how do you get to this location if the doors are closed?!
Well you have to drive your four-​wheeled friend up the ramp! The ramp is located near the Barnes & Nobles parking lot. You’d drive up the circle ramp to the top floor. There you’d drive all the way to the corner of the opposite end of the ramp, where you’d find a bunch of other cars parked (who know where to go to watch a movie).
Once you walk into the mall’s doors (these are open), then veer to your left as you enter the food court, there you will find the Regal movie theaters.
So how long did it take for me and my buddies to find this freaking place?! Probably a good 30 minutes since there was nobody around to direct us, nor there was any signs pointing to the directions! Thank you for the other yeeps who happen to post some quick tips to help guide us along the way!
We were able to just get to the theater in time to watch some previews before our movie started (saw «Argo»). The theater seems like your typical run-​of-​the-​mill-​cookie-​cutter Regal theaters (but kinda smaller since it’s within a mall and there were only 10 theater rooms.
Overall, I think it would be a good place to watch movies if you like the seclusion from the outdoor theater. But I think there needs to be more signs and directions posted to guide people where to find the place! *sigh*

Clean this place up already… smelly, dirty, uncomfortable and worn out seats… and a bunch of homeless people hanging out at the entrance asking you for money. Will not return unless they do a major makeover!

This is probably the worst Regal theaters in Portland. It’s tiny. Plus, if you see the last showing and the mall is closed… it’s virtually impossible to get out of there. Well, ok… not totally true. You can get out — but if you’re parked on a different level than the floor the theater is on — you’ll have to find the stairs OUTSIDE in the parking lot to get there. Not fun when it’s 20 degrees outside. Boo.

Ok. So this is definitely not a tiptop cinema. I actually didn’t have any major issue when I went. It was a Monday evening and I had no teenagers, no locked doors, and no disturbance in the movie itself.
I was a little worried given the other reviews, but there was no other time slot that worked for me and the movie I wanted.
I would definitely go back again if I needed, although I admit the one across the street is simpler.

God awful. If I could give them zero stars, I would. We’ve been in two or three times in the past, usually to see movies not playing anywhere else, and we’d always thought it was pretty crappy — stained carpets, uncomfortable seats, rude teens running the show, etc. — but it would due in a pinch. This last time, however, was, well. .. the last time.
We went in to see a film in 3D. Right away we noticed the 3D part of the trailers was amiss; blurry with and without the glasses on. I went to the concessions to let them know and was «greeted» by a dead-​eyed teen who could not have cared less that there was a problem. Luckily (I guess), a manager happened to shuffle by, because the popcorn jockey was making no attempt whatsoever to deal with the problem. I informed the manager, and he asked me if I was sure. I assured him I was neither blind nor stupid and he said he’d look into it. I re-​entered the theater and the trailers were still playing, blurry. Once film actually started and the problem was still unresolved we decided to leave. We walked out of the theater and encountered the same manager. We told him of the problem and he seemed unconcerned. He said he’d look in it (he’d done such a good job of that the first time). We told him we were leaving since we were missing the actual film at this point, and he told us to go to the box office for a refund. We explained the situation to the girl and she said, «so, what? You want a refund or something?» We said we did, which to her credit, she knew how to do quickly. We won’t be returning, and if Regal had any sense they’d flush that septic toilet of a theater and start anew with decent seats and a competent staff.

$ 11 for a matinée!?! Are you kidding me, Regal? OY. Yes, it was 3-​D but still. We were the ONLY people in the theater, and I think I know why. Also because this theater is one of the sketchiest in town. I only go when it’s the only place in town showing what I want. I’ll give you this, though: the bathroom was clean enough.

Overpriced for a place that’s outdated and doesn’t have stadium seating (don’t expect to have a cozy viewing experience!) — The only upside was going on a weekday and being one of only two people in the theater

There are many better places to see a movie. Many. The seats are uncomfortable but they have improved their projection and sound at some point in the last 10 years.
This location seems to be «low cost child care» so expect to see pods of children coming and going from your movie at random times.
2 stars because you will be able to see and hear the movie, and the place is air conditioned.
And I guess you could pay for a single ticket and see all 8 movies in a day, if you’re inclined. All the kids seem to be doing it.

The only time I would ever come to this theater is not on the weekend. I was here not on a weekend. It was empty. That is good.

I have to agree with Sean G on this one. For the price we are paying for a movie ticket, you would think the theater could arrange for updating their interior. I went with a group to see Burlesque yesterday. The Show was wonderful. However I could have enjoyed it more if my ass wasn’t sore from the uncomfortable seats.
The time has come for this theater to upgrade and update itself. If you can go to see a movie anywhere else do it. Stay away from this theater at all costs.

This is a review of Fandango. An online system that Regal uses to manage online on over the phone ticket sales. Fandango is completel worthless. Don’t waste your time. Poorly conceived and executed system. Possible the very worst example of how not to handle customer service I have ever experienced. Truly awful. They could learn a lot from Netflix. No wonder people aren’t going out to the cheaters any more.

Remember the old days when theater seats didn’t recline, and they were always in bad shape, and the arm rests didn’t even pull up? Well, Lloyd Mall 8 does. And it’s not like the Broadway theater downtown, where they kind of make up for the crappiness of the theater by giving you a discount… no, they charge you full price for an awful 80’s style movie experience. AND the Lloyd 8 is in WORSE shape than the Broadway.
I am generously giving this one-​star theater two stars because the movie played through without interruption… so in a sense, they did deliver the product purchased. However, since I could have saved $ 1 (not to mention the drive across the river) and went to Living Room Theaters instead… well, it was a horrible value for the product. Not to mention, it started about ten minutes late. Next time, if this is the only place showing the movie I want to see, I’ll stay home.
Shame on you, Regal Cinema. Shame. On. You.

Haven’t been here in a long time and went yesterday because they were playing a film that wasn’t being shown anywhere else. Being a foreign film, I was one of 4 people in the room.
What a strange place. Definitely will try to avoid it at all costs.
First off, it seems to be staffed by 3 people. One to sell tickets, one to sell popcorn, and one person to walk through during the movie to make sure you are behaving and not trying to illegally record films I’m sure. Other than that, there are no other people in sight, not even a guy to tear your ticket stub to validate you bought anything. Thinking back, there was nothing to stop me from just waltzing in, entering any door I wanted and sitting down to watch a movie. Or even buying 1 ticket and entering with a group of 8 people. Was this because it was a Thursday night? Or is it always like this?
So the clincher. The theater smells. The seats smell-​as soon as I sat down I wanted to move. And move I did, tried about 3 different seats and they all smelled. Yikes. The movie I saw had subtitles and I thought it was pretty annoying that no one checked to make sure the subtitles were showing up on the screen correctly. They were all below the screen so you could only make out the first line. At one point a patron left and talked to someone and they adjusted the screen so the words could be seen.
Finally, to the person doing theater checks– you are annoying. Every time you entered from the back, the door made noise and you walked to the middle of the theater-​stopped-​watched the movie for a few minutes-​then turned around and walked out. Even more annoying-​to the man dressed in a trench coat who walked in towards the end of the movie and stood in the back for a good 5 minutes watching it, then turned around and left… that is just poor manners and you creeped me out. It also goes to show how there’s no security in the theater at all. Joe Blow could have killed me in that stinky theater and no one would have known.
Overall, this place is part of the Regal family and charges full price but certainly doesn’t act like it is. Dingy, worn down, smelly, and understaffed-​it seems deserving of being converted to a second run theater.

This is very very important.
If you are afraid of Zombies, at all, you should NOT attend this particular theater after the sun goes down.
Something strange happens and I’m not quite sure how to explain it.
First off, they lock all the outside doors when the mall closes, so you better be creative in finding a way inside to SEE the movie.
Once inside you will follow the stale smells of popcorn and soda syrup, up the escalators to the theater. Regular Prices. Regular Screens. Regular seats.
Now. Here is where it gets interesting.
Try to leave when your movie gets out. What? You want to go home and use a clean bathroom?
HAHAHA. No!!!
The Regal Lloyd Mall Gods haves spoken! They want you to use your proverbial «smarts» to find a way out. You are now LOCKED INSIDE THE MALL.
The mall at night is a magical mystical place, full of darkened food courts and motionless escalators with large chains across them. You must then duck under said chains and walk down the old escalator that always seems on the verge of moving.
From there you are released into the Mall, where every door you try to open only greets you with a locked grunt. It is up to you to find your way out of this consumer labyrinth and back to a world with no random massage chairs and bubble gum machines.
Everything is quiet. The ice-​skating rink glistens in the dark. Frozen and still. The white faceless mannequins in the Forever 21 window, look on. And I SWEAR it feels like Dawn of the Dead. Any minute now hungry zombies are going to come hobbling out to eat your flesh and steal your gift cards.
Eventually you will find 1 of the 2 doors that remains unlocked, after walking all the way to the opposite end of the world, (aka the other side of the mall). And the air of the outside world will hit you when you open the door, and you will be free of zombies and their love of all things retail.
Would I go back?
Ummm. Yeah sure.
This theater is nothing special and it would never be my first choice. It gets points for absurdity and confusion and general ‘WTF’iness.
But I don’t think I’ll be back unless I’m already in the mall shopping. Or I’m just having a craving for some brains.
