Specialties
We are a full service bike shop, with a complete clothing selection, 2000+ bikes in stock, and a well stocked service department. We also have an outlet store two blocks away that stocks bikes from the last couple of years at good discounts. We have been named as a ‘Top 100 Bicycle Retailer’ every year since we opened in 1995, and were named ‘Best Bike Shop’ in the nation in 2010 by Bicycle Retailer magazine.
History
Established in 1995.
Founder and owner David Guettler has been in the bicycle business for over 30 years, and he’s not all that old. He moved to Portland in 1995 specifically to open River City as the ultimate bike shop of his dreams. He and the staff work very hard to deliver the highest level of customer service.

Business Owner
David Guettler started in the bike industry in 1979 working as a mechanic in a small store in Chico, CA. After a six month bike tour of New Zealand, he decided to make the bike industry his career. He moved to San Francisco to manage a Bianchi retail outlet, then ended up buying the location in 1984 with a partner, and starting a chain of bike shops throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento. He left in 1994 to move to Portland to open River City Bicycles.
