Rock & Rose

While not from Portland, I’ve had two opportunities in the last month to pop into this adorable store in this area. I’m not hip to thrift shopping in the least bit, but I found the cutest vintage lemon purse for a friend that just screamed her name. The second time, I bought some cute shades and lovely earrings here, both at reasonable prices. Just a word to the wise, be gentle with these $ 16 shades, or get yourself a case, ’cause I’ve already cracked them.
Alas, they have such cute local jewelry, and my boyfriend was able to find some fun button downs for him and a friend. I loved their hats in the back but wasn’t looking to spend $ 60+ on myself that day but may put in a request for an early Christmas present ;). They also have a ton of Members Only jackets that didn’t look good on me, but if you love MOs, this is your spot!
The store attendant was very sweet, and said she really enjoyed working there since they’re always getting new stuff in. I know that sounds a little cliché for a vintage shop, but I totally believe her since this was my second time in and they had new items around and about.
Will definitely be back next time I come to Portland!

Have found some great jewelry here! Clothes as well. Though I usually can’t afford a full on shopping spree here I have found some great items and come here when searching for something unique. Service has always been great as well :)

Love this store! They have a great selection of locally made jewelry (Betsy & Iya, Beach Bones, et) and lots of local soap, perfume, lotions and other goods. I picked up a new incense, perfume, and soap and love them all!
Didn’t spend much time looking at the clothes, but saw some interesting things.
The customer service was outstanding, I got extra help picking out fragrances, and everyone is really lovely.

I really liked the purses and the leather jackets. They had this fringe purse that was almost too groovy to pass up. I was not a fan of the vintage dresses even though the selection was immense it wasn’t for me. But maybe for someone that is into flowers, peter pan collars, and difficult to wear cuts might really enjoy these dresses.

Really good selection of gorgeous clothes. Definitely a good place if you’re between a XS to M size — not so much if you’re a L or XL (ie my size was hard to find).
Shoes were lovely and the vibe was nice.
I’d definitely revisit if I’m ever back in Portland :)

Aw! I love Rock n’ Rose. Staying at the Jupiter and walking down the street, we discovered this place one of the last times we were in Portland. I’ve never purchased clothing here however, I’ve purchased a good amount of jewelry.

This was our favorite vintage shop we went to! They have a mixture of new and old and nothing was over priced. I got an amazing leather jacket for only 120! Even my husband who really isn’t into vintage wear found a few it’s to take home. The women working were super awesome and helpful. We will be back!

rock n’ rose does a couple things really, really right…
–They offer beautiful, unique and fine-​crafted jewelry
–They have an immense selection of vintage dresses and skirts, expertly curated so you don’t have to do any digging through racks– everything is great!
Their selection of blouses (my vintage store item of choice) is pretty slim, but that’s okay because they make up for it elsewhere. Fun fact: they actually cut and sew the vintage blouses they buy. A dozen of them– different styles, brands and fabrics– were sewn into smocked short sleeves, which I’m not realllllly a fan of. If YOU are though: dear Tavi Gevinson, this is your place.

They carry both vintage clothes and independent, and local brand clothes.
This place is awesome!

I liked a lot of their vintage clothing and all were at afforable prices.
The lady at the counter was very friendly and allowed my friend and I to play dress up with a few things. I think that’s a great quality of customer service.
You’ll also find some of the cutest one of a kind jewelry. Did I say that enough?

Althoe I did love the dresses here and the very cool and unique jewelry. I will think twice about going back based on the prices. At least of the dresses, seemed steep! The staff were nice enough and the manager or owner consigned some jewelry of mine even thoe she said they normally didn’t! Nothing sold but I thought it very nice of her!

What an incredible store! I just happened upon Rock n’ Rose while walking back to my hotel a few blocks away. I was actually too lazy to pack a toothbrush and had to walk to a nearby convenience store to nab one. As I was walking past I thought, «Ohh… I should stop in there on my way back. Maybe.» And then a few mins later I was thinking I’d just head straight to the hotel. But a few items in the window ended up catching my eye and I absolutely had to duck in to see more. So kudos to whoever does the window dressing, I absolutely couldn’t walk pased again without popping in. There’s a great mix of items here for both men and women. I spotted some formal clothes, great winter coats, incredibly adorable summery dresses with fantastic prints, and lots of great shoes and accessories.
Impressed with nearly everything, I must’ve spent about 30 mins browsing. It’s not a big store but literally every piece is worth looking at. I even ended up looking at men’s clothes just in case I spotted something for my boyfriend.
I loved the jewelry, too. When I was browsing a smiley, happy woman behind the counter offered assistance and let me know to just ask for help if I needed it. I felt very welcomed and even though I wasn’t totally sure I needed to buy anything, I didn’t feel like they were bothered at all that I was really just there to look and check out the store. I had spent a lot of money on a trip recently so I was trying hard not to bust out my wallet. I do stay at this same nearby hotel a few times a year though… So I think next time I’ll set more time (and money) aside to do some serious damage here. A total Portland gem.

One of my «must visit» shops when I’m back home in Stumpytown.
For me rock n’ rose is alllllll about the cool T-​shirts from 70s-​90s. I bought a rad shirt last year that features a star spangled motorcycle above the words, «Chopper: An American Tradition» and I wear it whenever I’m feeling nostalgic for the states and pumped up with weird expat patriotism. It’s a great talking point at bars and parties over here in Oz. Rock n’ rose also has an amazing selection of shoes, including 80s era penny loafers and ankle boots and some truly awesome cowboy boots. All the shoes are cheap, cheap, cheap (mmm…by Australian standards at least) and in good condition. Haven’t yet scored with skirts or dresses here yet… maybe next time!

A perfect mix of all things Portland– vintage and «vintage» wear ranging from ladies aviator jackets to old grandpa sweaters are mixed in with a few house brands and knock offs (look alike Black Milk tights stand out as one) and a small but well curated selection of vintage boots and shoes. The dusty and well loved is mixed with the shiny and soon to be loved front of the store, which contains a fabulous selection of jewelry, accessories, and great gift items like locally made candles and bric a brack. Almost everything new is made locally, and a few of my favorite pieces of jewelry are from a designer and line who also happens to be a Rock n’ Rose employee.
I made off with such a great selection of items on my last visit, all of which were reasonably priced: Wool leopard circle scarf (new); large geode ring from the in-​store line (new); button up vintage woman’s shirt (vintage). I was really leaning toward a great pair of vintage boots, but I felt like the leather was a little too un-​cared for suggest a long life– take a good look at the shoes and try them on before you wear them, most are fashionable but not all are in the best shape.
Rock n’ Rose is a must visit when I go to Portland. Even if I don’t find anything in the vintage section, I always find something in the front of the store to drool over. Portland quintissential.

Rock-​n-​Rose is the place in Portland to find Members Only jackets.
I started my MO jacket search in every vintage store in the Hawthorne district and only found sizes for Andre the Giant. Those stores were so unorganized that it was frustrating just trying to find the one or two jackets that they carried.
Then I stopped at the Rock-​n-​Rose. They had about 15 Members Only jackets. They had white, Grey, light blue, blue, navy blue, and black. They had a myriad of sizes. Plus, all the jackets were all organized on the same rack. The jackets were $ 24 (standard going rate), but they have a 20% Unilocal check in offer that brought the price down to $ 19. Yay! I am the emperor!

Everything in here is a) affordable, and b) adorable. Lots of cowboy boots, funky shirts for men, cute dresses for women, hats, bags — all priced for normal people.
They also carry soaps, candles, flasks — all locally made, all equally as cute as above items.
And they have a fantastic First Friday to boot — so if you get the chance, visit while that’s going on — you’ll love it!
And now to save money so that I can blow it all there…

I was hunting for something specific here today; a video game themed tee-​shirt for an event that I will be attending the next day.
I pawed through all of the tees and they do have a pretty good selection but did not find what I was looking for. I will tell you what I did find though, I found a really great full length suede coat with a fur collar and lined with a faux fur. This amazing coat was priced at only $ 42.00 and when I used my Unilocal for iPhone Check-​in Offer of 20% off it was about $ 33.00. As much as I adore the hot weather, I want a cool evening so I can wear this coat.
I’ve been in this shop several times and the folks working are always friendly. I am always impressed by the amount of leather jackets that they have and the prices are not bad. They have some cool purses, jewelry, and the men’s section looked to have some really cool selections as well. This is definitely one of the better vintage shops around.

If what you seek is affordable thrift do not go here. Go instead to the nearby Goodwill. rock n’ rose is nothing more than a space that has gone to Goodwill for you, weeded out the crap, and slapped a $ 26 price tag on a t-​shirt. That same t-​shirt cost a buck last week when THEY bought it at Goodwill.
If however you like overpaying for thrift clothing and can’t be seen at Goodwill, r n’ r is right for you!
